This kettle leaks, very dissapointed – This kettle leaks, leaving water all over the bench. I would expect a kettle to last for years and years, but this is our third Sunbeam kettle, all different models, and all of them have leaked after a couple of years of normal household use.

Leaking water from base and dangerous after 2 weeks use – Bought the Sunbeam KE6400 kettle 3 weeks ago from Myer. We noticed water leaking from the base nearly every time we boiled the kettle, a water trail of small puddles was left behind all over the kitchen bench top, the power base even had water puddles on it as well. Taking it back for a refund and buying a kettle that does not LEAK after 2 weeks!… Read more

Sunbeam would be aware of the design fault, as this problem is regularly mentioned in the reviews over the last couple of years.

Dangerous – Not sure when we bought this kettle but we haven't had it leak yet. Instead, my wife burnt a strip of skin off her forearm last night as she reached for something on the bench. Although the stainless steel looks good, it gets as hot as the water inside it. With safety standards the way they are, that to me is a design flaw and think it would've… Read more

been insulated. What if someone needs to pick it up with 2 hands? With 3 young boys in the house, we'll be binning this today and replacing it with a safer option.

Love the jug – I have had this item for a few years now and find it great. Love the fact it has the button to push to open lid for filling. My hands no longer able to open conventional lids. Only problem is no filter replacements. Filter now gone so replacing jug and buying same again. (Would love to see Sunbeam add the filter as an accessory)  Show details

I love it – I have had this kettle for a few months now & it's great. It's not the quietest of kettles (normal) but this is not a feature I look for Looks great, uses a button to open the lid & I'm yet to burn my fingers once. Nothing so far Show reply

Good kettle for a good price – It's one of those things that happens from time to time...you put the coffee and sugar in your cup, lick your lips in anticipation, turn around to flick your jug on...and its dead. No coffee!!!!! So it went for me last weekend....flick switch...nothing. I needed coffee so I was on the door of my local 100% at 9am to replace the offending kettle. … Read more

I saw the Aquella quickly due to the fact it was on promotion(normally $70.00 I believe)and grabbed it. The brushed stainless exterior was also a good look for my kitchen and matched my other appliances.

Its a kettle. There is nothing to set up, nothing to build. You plug it in and it makes coffee...at least it seems that way.

After a week of use, I am really happy with the Aquella. It did give me a fright on the first day as the switch would not activate the heater plate. I never found out why, but it stopped playing up after the first couple of days. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about that or not to be honest.

You certainly know this kettle has been switched on. It will not be recieving any awards for silent operation. In fact it may be one of the loudest I've ever had. But so what, it works fine and it works fast. It goes from zero to boil in under 4 minutes with nearly two litres of water in it, which seems fast anyway.

Pouring is smooth and drip free. The handle remains cool to touch and there are really no issues at all with this kettle. I would recommend it without hesitation. Good price, fast boil, smart looking Noisy

Leaking from the base after 1 year – Bought it about a year ago. Can't remember where from. Great while it worked. Noticed a pool of water on the base plate, thought it was just water from refilling the kettle. Nope, turns out it's now leaking from the base of the kettle, just under the on/off switch. Great.  Show details

Lid Keeps Flipping Open At Random. Safety Hazzard!! Almost burned hands a few times now – Was a nice kettle to begin with and looks good, but now the lid keeps flipping open at random and almost everytime the kettle boils too... I've nearly burned my hands a few times when pouring it and the lid pops open spilling boiling water everywhere! Someone actually recommended sunbeam a while ago to me, but since having this thing fail on me… Read more

Keep your hard earned coin and spend on another brand instead.

Leaks - Dont buy – Started leaking after three months, seems to be coming from the base and based on multiple reports it looks like a design fault around the base when its stamped together. Looks nice but as a general rule water and electricity are not a good combination. This product should be removed from the market.  Show details

Leaking after second use – My kettle is also leaking. After speaking to a colleague at work he also had this problem earlier this year. Cannot believe they are still allowed to sell this product after seeing all the other reviews on here. I have been trying unsuccessfully to contact customer service for 3 days now. Maybe they will respond to this as they seem to monitor this page.  Show details

Absolute rubbish!! – I had mine for quite a while. It left drops of water in the beginning and gradually got worse until I had to leave it on the bench (not it's base) as water went everywhere. Took it back and the shop assistant said water and electricity are not a good mix and refunded me. Bought Russell Hobbs instead and am very happy.

Don't Buy It! – Ours bought six weeks ago leaked water all over the bench twice before we realised what was wrong. Returned to shop and got refund. Bought different brand. Should not be continued to be sold. Quite dangerous. Sunbeam used to produce good products no longer though so now after a couple of their products being faulty.

Terrible product – Bought a sunbeam kettle which leaked from the bottom. Had no problem replacing it but the first time I used the new one, the same problem occurred, leaking from the bottom of kettle. Also, had difficulty closing the lid on several occasions. Won't be buying this product again. Thought it was a once off problem!!! Very frustrating to have to chase again!!!

2 months old before leaking water onto base – We bought a Sunbeam Aquella kettle late 2015. Within a couple of months it was leaking. Took it back to Myers in Adelaide and no issues to get a new one. Problem is, here we are, a couple of months later and this one is leaking. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD

So disappointed with the demise of quality – After buying a sunbeam jug from R.Edwards electrical Beaudesert, it started leaking so took it back and got another one swapped over but low and behold this new one around a year later is corroding down the back and leaking into the base. of time before you lose out completely. I'm an older Aussie and can see a decline in quality in all lines of products. They just don't last like they used to but they shouldn't leak (hate to have a short or unneeded charge). Unfortunately for me I am trusting and have misplaced my receipt because the first jug I had one and never got one when the unit was swapped and apparently you lose the warranty on the replacement. Anyway Didn't think I would need it again. That will not happen with my next replacement unit. I put in my 2 bits because I thought I was the only one, boy, I was surprised when I came on to see if anyone else had a problem. Sad they aren't cheap if you buy one every 6 months. Great for the business though. Sunbeam always had a great Australian name as I remember Dick Smith has gone so get busy and do something. Nev

Another leaky kettle – Brought this kettle over a year ago and its leaking at the base into the switch. Really disappointed as the kettle was expensive (when compared to other brands) and therefore should have lasted a few years. I have been buying Sunbeam small appliances as they have a good reputation and their products look good and have been recommending them to my family and friends but after this experience I am now reconsidering this.

Another leaky outcome – We like it's nice lines, the matt stainless steel and what seems a reasonable level of noise when operating. Unfortunately after just 13 months the base is very leaky and we need a replacement. We paid a small premium for that we thought was a supposedly reliable brand so the outcome is disappointing.

Product is Dangerous and Should Be Recalled! – Have been using this kettle for around two years and have only just noticed that the plastic lining inside the lid has deteriorated and gone powdery. Defect after just over 12 months – I am very disappointed with this kettle. After a little over 12 months the kettle started leaking onto the heating element. Leaking at base – After looking at several makes and models we decided to choose this one. After about 8 months it is starting to leak at the base. I am very concerned because water and electricity don't mix and how dangerous this is. Don't like it – Brushed stainless steel with black trim. Looks great but has some problems. The handle is black and the water gauge is at the back and appears black and because it is in shadow of the handle is hard to read. It's noisy and heavy making it difficult for disabled users. Works fine when lid does not pop open – This is a nice looking kettle and was working well until the lid started randomly popping open, sometimes during boiling. This seems to be a generic problem with Sunbeam kettles (not just Aquella) so they need to get their act together. happened to me before with a previous model Sunbeam kettle, but I thought it wouldn't happen again - so I was very surprised that it started happening with this one! So I returned it to K-Mart and am now trying a Homemaker one because I'm not going to risk that issue again. Users should look at other Sunbeam kettle reviews and the lid popping open is common. Cheap but certainly not nasty! – There's very little that can be said about a good kettle, a rather inglorious appliance. If it stores plenty of water, boils fast and blends into your kitchen, whether its marble or Laminex, it's a good kettle; the key is that it will never be noticed! kettles in its price point, it's still capable of the same job of much larger and more expensive kettles without the niggly problems of cheaper kettles such as, short power cords, tacky looks or loud operation. The 360degree platform not only makes using the kettle easier when your hands are full but makes a neat place to store the excess power cord. Cheap, quick to boil, long cord, non-intrustive style, relatively quiet for SS kettle.
