Toast function DOES NOT WORK – I bought this specifically to toast Hot Dog Rolls. The dial will not go onto the Toast icon setting. We=hen setting the dials as per manual all I ended up with was very dried out rolls with not even a hint of color to indicate toasting. Will be returned for a refund USELESS

Does not do the job – I recently purchased a Model COM1000SS Mini Bake and Grill Oven to replace the previous one we had for many years. Unfortunately, it does not work. From an electrical point of view it works fine, but it simply does not do what it claims to do. The previous model had three temperature settings – a Bake setting with variable temperature up to 220°C; a Grill setting that activated the top element only and a Toast setting that activated both the top and bottom elements. Neither the Toast nor Grill settings were affected by the thermostat setting, which means the elements got sufficiently hot to Toast both sides of bread or Grill the top of whatever was put in.

The new model does not have separate Toast and Grill settings – these symbols appear next to the temperature dial but do not alter the way the oven works. The Toast symbol also appears on the Timer dial, but once again this does not change the way in which the oven works.

The problem is that the oven will not, for example, grill cheese on toast, because once the temperature gets to the maximum setting the top element is switched off by the thermostat and stops grilling the food. By contrast, the old model could be used in Toast setting to toast the bottom of the bread at the same time as grilling the top of the food.

I have read several reviews that note the same problem. This appliance simply does not do what it purports to do.
