Excellent it is the first one made I think – Think this is one of the first ones made its still going strong but alas making sauces and rum balls has just about killed it get for onion for the BBQ or salad chopping use a plastic bag to catch you veg it's not suited for any veg to be caught in a bowl that's the only design fault I can find Age of machine unlike me has aged gracefully and has done so much work Excellent product Show details
Terrible! Don't buy! – Absolutely terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!Don't buy it!It leaks everywhere!Very very messy!Such a shame as was very excited when I got it for Christmas! The continuous flow attachment was maybe a good idea except the fact that your chopped food goes everywhere but the bowl and half the amount stays stuck inside the attachment. You also can't control the speed… Read more
and no matter what kind of food (wet/dry)you are trying to process half the amount will leak out of the bowl on to your kitchen bench and all sides of the processor-very very disappointed!I also read a lot of reviews of other types of sunbeam processors and they weren't very flattering so don't think I will be ever investing into this brand again! Also it's advertised for 'kneading'pastry-well the bowl is so small that maybe it would knead 1 doughnut but it would take you a long long time to knead a pastry for a cake and I'm not even mentioning the mess it would leave behind!!!!Shame on you Sunbeam!
Messy and leaky
OK – Overall this a is good product for a 2 person family. Though the Flow attachment is a tad messy and quite a bit of product gets stuck on the inside of the flow attatchment. I love how it chops onions, carrots and garlic in seconds, quicker than taking using a chopping board. It is also good for making sauces like Salsa veride and Pesto. I… Read more
enjoy it and recomende it, especially if you dont mind a little cleaning around the Oskar after you use the Flow attachment. Personaly it dose not bother me because it is still faster than cleaning the boards and knife.
I must have for those who love quick and easy cooking Quick, Easy and Compact A little Noisy,, A tad messy
Don't buy it! – A very poor product for the price. I was looking for a device to aid with vegetable preparation but this is not worth the money or effort required. It did cut vegetables reasonably well but it makes a lot of mess. The unit is very loud. It has poor grip so has to be held while in use due to the vibrations. There is no on off switch it has to be turned on and off at the power point. Difficult to channel the food into an external bowl.
Shame about the leaky lid – Oskar 400 is powerful for such a compact unit. I had a great little Sunbeam Oskar back in the 1980's and wanted to like this updated Oskar just as much. Sadly, Oskar 400 leaks big time! The lid is simply not tight-fitting enough for food. No matter how much you hold the lid down during processing, centrifugal force makes whatever is inside the… Read more
bowl escape up, out and down the sides. Wet or dry ingredients and it's the same problem. Making pesto? Forget it! You'll have olive oil oozing through the rim of the bowl, down the outside then into every nook and cranny imaginable, including the motor vents on the sides of the machine. Grating potato, carrot or zucchini? Don't even think about it, vegetable juices dribble out everywhere. Grinding nuts or coffee? You'll have powder all over the place. This is one MESSY little machine! Oskar 400 is going back to the keeper I'm sorry to say. I nearly slipped and broke my neck on the food that escaped from it. Apart from the major flaw, this unit is actually good at processing food. If only all that food stayed INSIDE the bowl! My first Oskar never leaked like this? Powerful motor, weak design. Powerful motor that processes well. Leaks both wet and dry ingredients.
Classic..all rounder – My mum had one of these when I was growing up and I remember she was always using it for everything..so i decided to buy one. I use it for alot...shredding /mixing veges for baby food, salads...soups..onions...it CAN leak but I think this is when you have had it for more than 10 years..I have not had any problems with mine and its about 2 years old. Very useful for everyday Can leak after some time...not short term though
Terrible – I was so excited to by this product after reading the reviews. I purchase the item and first go chopping celery the Oscar stopped working (blades wouldn't turn after 1 stick). So disappointed.. I sent the item back and was given a replacement. Eager to try again I this time went to make hummus. Again within a few seconds the same thing happened… Read more
again. 2 fails out of 2 means I am not going to bother trying again. Very disappointed in the product. Size didn't last 2 seconds
Very useful – This was a Christmas present so haven't had it long, but my mum's had one for 20-odd years and it's still going. I've used mine a fair bit for chopping up food for my one-year-old. I'm looking forward to as many good years with my Oskar as my mum has had. Powerful, nice large & sharp blades, useful attachment for continuous chopping/slicing. It would be good if the bowl was a bit bigger, but can always use the disc.
Terrible – I would not waste your time or money! The store and reviews have both said what a wonderful machine this was, yet it would not even preform the most basic function. It was too weak to even grate carrot or cheese. I hope this model was just a lemon and the next batch is better. Not that i will be trying. the size i too, purchased this machine due… Read more
to the reviews on this website only to be disappointed when i got it home. I have since realised it had a been a few years since the last reviews. Maybe the model changed? Mine worked twice before it would not turn. I was grating carrot at the time. They replaced it only for the second one to do exactly the same thing. I didnt bother trying a third time.

Terrible – I'm suprised by the good reviews as I really don't like it at all. I had a large sunbeam for over 20 years that I just loved - and after helping me raise 4 children and do a catering business for awhile - it finally broke. I was told that the Oskar 400 would be just as good and all that would be needed for 2 people. The small bowl doesn't do… Read more
much at all and has a hard time reaching everything in it. The flow attachment is messy, to say the least, and there is no easy on/off switch. It is also extremely noisy. It has gone to the back of my cupboard, I'm using the old hand beaters and hand mincer until I've saved enough pennies for a larger machine again. One Oskar 400 going, going....
Maybe it's me and I use it incorrectly, but it isn't the machine I expected it to be. Hats off to those that find it easy. okay for very small jobs flow attachment throws stuff everywhere, it doesn't seem to matter how large a bowl I use.
Excellent – Couldn't live without Oskar in my kitchen I use it all the time, easy to clean, simple to operate, just fantastic. Oskar is fantastic, I use it several times each week. It makes chopping onions, shredding cheese so quick and easy. Its easy to clean up and small enough for a two person family. Not one thing bad about Oskar, I love him.
