What ingredients do i put in the ice-cream maker
Hello Georgia Tiara B. Please click through to read through the recipes provided in the product manual: external link
Thank you, Sunbeam Customer Care
I have a Sunbeam Heroes Icecream Maker GL5500 and a GL5400 Snowy Desert Maker. It is sometime since I have used them but now with Coverty I have the Cannot assembly the Desert Maker . I appear to have all the parts for the Icecream maker but not the Snowy. I have the Freezer container but in the booklet Page 6 A there seems to be a Slip on part to connect the Freezer compartment to the Motor?
We are finding it impossible to put the Snowy dessert maker together. The pictures in the manual are not helpful. Does the silver canister come out of the bottom white one? The blue one with Sunbeam written on it does not fit over the white canister if the silver one is inside it but the silver one doesn't look as if it comes out. Totally frustrated!
I worked it out The 2 blue parts come apart The one w the sunbeam logo slides on the canister from the bottom The other blue part S the button slides in from the top Lune up the button etc and then the motor fits on the top w the paddle Whew Saves having to hold it together for 45 minutes while it churns Yr welcome
could i plesase get a manual for the snowy please

Does anyone have any good recipes to try in this machine? I have only just got mine and have been searching for some but haven't seen many good ones.
Thank you. :)
Hey Madison, I just bought one on trade me but no instructions booklet. Would you mind emailing me a copy of yours? Using the scanner (I don't know how to do that but hopefully you do). My email is nzblack@hotmail.com
Hi I don't have a scanner but I might be able to send pictures? Or you can look for the instruction booklet online.
My iced cream maker didn't come with a recipe how does it work?
Put the insulated bowl in the freezer for a minimum of 24 hours. Make an egg custard using full cream milk, and flavour with vanilla, chocolate, etc, and put it in the fridge until very cold. Add cream and then churn in the insulated bowl until desired consistency. The instruction booklet is here - external link .
You'll need to have your bowl completely frozen, I say leave it in the freezer for 2-3 days. You can find recipes online, you'll need a recipe that makes upto 1ltr. You'll also need lots of eggs (4 eggs) and full cream.
Warm the milk and mix in the egg yolks over a low heat on the stove to cook the egg, add sugar to this too.
Let it the mix cool to room temp. take the bowl out of the freezer, put in machine and turn it on, now start adding you egg/cream mix plus your flavours to the machine. You can even add crushed cookies, or choc chips or anything really. Leave it to mix and thicken then transfer to a container and put it in the freezer.
Can you make low fat ice cream and use stevia to sweeten it?
Hi. I make low fat ice cream all the time and it works well. Never used artificial sweeteners but only use 1/2 cup of sugar, so probably would work. It would be worth a try.
When it says to add milk and 2 cups of thickened cream, do they mean beat cream until thick or just buy standard cream?
Hi jenny8858, When the recipe states to add thickened cream you will need to add cream which is labelled as thickened cream. This type of cream is less likely to separate or curdle when used in a recipe. It is sold is most supermarkets and will be found next to your regular cream in the chiller cabinet.

Hi Jenny. I just add the cream straight from the carton - I use normal thickened cream but have used lite cream as well.
Jenny 8858 is in New Zealand. I'm a regular visitor to NZ from Australia. "Thickened cream" as we know it in Australia is either uncommon, or possibly unknown in NZ. I've certainly never seen it there.
In N Z supermarkets you will find real unadulterated cream, not the thick gelatinous glug we Aussies call thickened cream.
Sunbeam should be aware of this difference, and provide separate Kiwi and Aussie recipes.
In responding in this website, Suumbeam's reps should take note of whether a reviewer is from Aus or NZ and perhaps only the appropriate office of Sunbeam should reply. (ie: in this case maybe Sunbeam NZ should have responded.) Then your advice will be more appropriate and better tailored.
Would this work with non dairy milk products eg soy milk for people with a dairy allergy? thanks
Hi nikstar, Non dairy milk alternatives can be used in Sunbeam Ice Cream Makers. Please note that the overall taste and texture of the finished ice cream will be affected by the substituted ingredients. You may also need to experiment and slightly adjust quantities in the recipe for best results.
Sunbeam ice cream makers can also be used to make sorbets which do not contain dairy. There are many recipes included in the instruction booklet for ice cream, gelatos and sorbets.
