Ok for dry stuff – dry sticks and leaves go through well, however the outlet chute is easily blocked when green vegetation is fed through, very frustrating to have to clean it out often when shredding green leafy product. note i have a vegy garden so we have lots of greens like lettuce, cabbage etc leaves.

It is only as good as it's weakest point – Great motor. Great cutting mechanism. Dreadfully inadequate canopy. My third canopy has finally terminally fallen apart. The first canopy lasted 3 years. Most of the welds parted company. I was fortunate to be able to get a replacement. It started to come apart after 2 years, so I had it welded as a precaution. This lasted for another two years when the metal around the welds failed. Again I was able to get a replacement. I have had this one re-welded twice, about every two years, and after 13 years I have a perfectly good motor and cutting system but cannot find another canopy. The machine has given me outstanding service and is used regularly (at least quarterly) with all the commonly commented on failings of clogging with green finer material, but regular sharpening overcomes most of this. If the canopy were much more robust, I am sure this machine could deal adequately with up to 30mm material provided it is freshly cut. I have munched up to a cubic metre of stuff in a day regularly and have no problems with the size of the chopped material.

Does anyone know where I could get a new canopy, as I am sure the machine has many years left.

Barely adequate – Had one of these for about 5 years, probably put about 3 tonnes through it. The size of the chopped material can varies and it certainly has a sweet spot when loaded to do the best job. It will block fairly easily when filled with green material and I have had to sharpen the blade twice a season for the best results. I found that the branch feed chute may be 40 mm but anything over 25 mm is asking for trouble. The second year I used this it split the housing around the branch feed tube and i had to strip it down and weld it up. After this it has been working fine but the chop size was still large. It will stall if not used with care. It worked well enough to maintain but I would go for a bigger model next time even if it only gets 6 hours use a year. It doesn't really chop up the mulch small enough for the best results in the garden. I wouldn't buy another. Tall outlet to get a bin underneath, overload prevents the motor from burning out when it jams. Very corse chop, doesnt cut up small soft stuff, leaves ofen come out in one piece. The blade is soft.

Supa or not so supa – I can't say I'm geatly impressed. I can compare it with my past Rover (model no. forgotten), which was easy to man/person-handle and did a better mulching job. The SupaSwift isn't good at shredding leaves or fine material. It's cumbersome to move to the work site if not on flat ground. The size and weight indicates that it's more likely to have been designed for a man to use. It's better than nothing Interior becomes clogged, even when green and dry materials are mixed as per directions. The instruction manual doesn't indicate where the re-set button is located.

Good domestic machine – Does a good job mulching the annual fruit tree pruning branches. Doesn't mulch the leaves and small twigs too well as they tend to get discharged before really getting chopped up. Overall very rugged but takes longer than a larger $1000+ machine would. However if mulching is only an occasional exercise, the time doesn't really matter. Reasonably inexpensive, rugged, handles branches well Not too good on leaves and twigs as they are quickly discharged before being properly mulched.
