Low inaccurate results – This is an expensive product that has never worked. Right from the start is has read very low and when a proper thermometer is used you can see how wrong it is. I too would like my money back.

Total let down. Did not work when needed – The hard case was glued shut. The product did not work once I got it out of packaging. Did not work. Thirty words is not necessary to get this message across. Show details

I had the same problem with low and inconsistent results, but it shows correct temperature when used correctly – I had the same problem with this thermometer showing low, and inconsistent, temperatures, but it gives accurate results if used properly. To get an accurate reading make sure to: 1. Wait at least 15 minutes after eating, drinking, smoking, exercising, or doing strenuous activity, before taking your temperature. 2. Use in a room where ambient… Read more

temperature is at least a few degrees less than the average "healthy" body temperature of about 36.7 degrees (I tested a few units at 24 degress).

3. Wipe under the arm(pit) with a dry cloth or tissue.

4. Place the WHOLE thermometer under your arm, not just the tip.

Hold it vertically instead of horizontally, with the tip under the armpit and the rest of it down the length of the arm (so that none of it protrudes from under your arm).

This is critical, and the reason is to avoid ambient temperature affecting the result.

5. Keep it under your arm for at least 1-2 minutes, even if the buzzer rings saying that it's ready.

That's because the temperature shown will often keep going up the longer it is under the arm (until it reaches body temperature which is when the reading stops increasing and correct result is shown).

Ps. the instructions above are not included with this thermometer, which are very basic.

The instructions above are from a Vicks Insight thermometer, which has much more detailed instructions, and I have found they work very well with this thermometer too (and I assume will apply to all under-arm thermometers).

I deducted one star because, when placed correctly under the arm, the buzzer indicating the results are ready to read is practically impossible to hear.

But it's a plus in a sense, because it suggests that you have placed the thermometer correctly, and completely under the arm.

Also, as stated above, you should keep it under the arm for at least 1-2 minutes anyway, so not being able to hear it buzz after as few as 15-30 seconds is not really a big issue.

Reading Always low – I took the reading of my 3 year old and showed 34 degrees, I felt the child was hot so checked with a normal thermometer it was 38 degrees. It always shows low reading in spite of changing batteries. Quite frustrating and do not trust the product anymore. brought from malouf pharma.

It consistently reads too low! – Every time we use this, the reading is always low, regardless of who is getting tested. Quite frustrating, especially when we spent $80!! I would have expected a better quality product for that amount. This has been like it since we bought it, so it's not a battery issue. Extremley disappointed and would not recommend this product.

Works – Good basic thermometer. Doesn't have a lot of the features as some other thermometers out there (can use it only to test temp of my child). It says it can be used to measure rectal temperature but considering it is so rigid I would say don't try thisat home! It is pretty good for oral and under arm though. basic thermometer that does what it says… Read more

it will. You do need to read the instructions as I didn't realise you need to keep it under the arm longer to get a more accurate reading
