Post migration pairing issue – Hi i bought these cameras on trademe. Tried to pair them with swan security app and they did not get connected to mobile tried 10 times. Asked customer service and they said your cameras were not migrated to their new sysytem. And cant help much. Swann SWWHD-INTCAMPK2……Appalling waste of money! – We bought the two pack from Bunnings on Boxing Day, 2018. We had seen them advertised in a Boxing Day sale catalog from JB Hi Fi for around the $350 mark, which was a significant saving compared to the RRP at the time in most stores, which from memory was around the $450-500 mark…I don’t recall the price exactly, but it wasn’t cheap. Bunnings were… Read more
kind enough and came to the party of their price beat guarantee and beat it by 10%…even though it was a sale item, and we paid $320.69. That was the only positive for this purchase, and it goes entirely to Bunnings for their excellent service.
Excitedly, we got home and set the cameras up…we ended up buying the screw in mounts, as the magnetic mounts were useless. This was a mistake, as had we had the cameras on the mag mounts, we may have had the fortune of having them flogged, which would have saved us all the grief we’ve had to go through thus far. As many have mentioned, the functionality of both the cameras and the Swann Security app was garbage right from the get go; poor WiFi connectivity, even though both cams were literally meters from the router; cams not recording actual human activity in from of them, yet picking up the movement of seemingly any non-important movement…insect flyby, leaf falling to the ground, wind. The app was extremely buggy in just about every facet of its functioning.
Around 18 months after purchase, the app was changed and along with firmware updates, we started to see major improvements in functioning. Other reviews have noted an even worse experience after the app update, but for us, it was actually an improvement….nothing to wright home about, but an improvement nonetheless. Cams still don’t connect straight away, many connectivity issues, intermittent recording, recording of insignificant things…bla bla bla. But the worst aspect of these cams is the absolutely woeful battery life. I’m struggling to find an adjective that adequately describes just how bad the battery life is. Both are bad, but one cam literally gives us a low battery notification 2 (two T W O) days after allegedly charging to 100%. We briefly, and I’m talking nanoseconds, considered buying the solar panel for charging, but there is no way we’re spending any more money on any Swann product.
Under no circumstances would I recommend these cameras to anyone…I thought for a moment that maybe I would give them to my worst enemy, but I just don’t have that level of cruelty in me.

Don't buy. Waste of money – I bought a set and managed to get only one camera running. Within months SWANN changed the app and the system became inoperable. No refund and communication with SWANN stopped after they accepted their fault. Do not trust SWANN products or the company.

Waste of money – I purchased 2 of these cameras and had issues right from the start getting them to actually work. I called customer service several times which was a waste of time being told they the issue was that the camera was too far from my WiFi. It was a couple of Meyers above it! Waste of money – These cameras are a waste of money. They always require charging and don’t even work most of the time. They do not detect movement often and night vision is crap. We actually had someone come into our yard and take some out our belongings. The camera didn’t even send us a notification and it took forever to find the video which was inly half recorded. The cameras also sometimes go offline for days without warning Show details

Don't waste your money! – Not only don't these cameras work well, there is basically no after sales support from SWANN. After installing the new SWANN app (as instructed) both cameras don't work. Installed and reinstalled and nothing. have spend too much time on the phone to customer support who keep telling me they are working.... they are not. A complete waste of money. DO NOT BUY. $499 down the drain. Show details

Very bad customer service and product! – I purchased a pair of these and after a while I received an email that previous app won't work, please download Swann's new app. And guess what! the new App is not even compatible with Swann's own cameras. Swann Australia not answering the phone and facebook pages, online tickets and I was told by online technical assistant that I have to purchase a new pair!! seems I have to spend $500 a year to update my cameras, which is ridiculous! Office365 Quarantine system but as administrator I was able to release the emails. Spent the next few hours trying to add the device to my account but it kept stopping at the point of connection. Had to stop my internet Wi-Fi from connecting automatically. Each time I went to the final connection the device would turn off. To speed up the process I added a keyboard for quicker typing. Then when I got to the pointy end the application would close so I contact tech support. I had spent most of the time from about 6.15pm to 10pm trying multiple time to add this device to my account. Some times I would have to try to login to the app several time even with the password saved. Then following the manual instructions, which on a number of occasions would log me out and I would have to start again. When I finely contact tech support I was told my device was not ported over to the new software system and I would have to log a warranty claim which I have done. This may be a great security camera but I am yet to find out. Given the Swans Website indicated the Safe by Swann App was retired on the 31st of August and they began the migration in May 2020 I would have though they would have updated their how to videos on their website but still all instruction appear they are for the Safe by Swan App. Stay tuned as I will update this review assuming I get a working unit. Advanced RMA was approved next morning

Steer clear of Swann ZERO customer service ! – I purchased this security camera with the solar panel From JB hi-fi and other than it fails to work on overcast or rainy days it’s been working great. But when it does work the camera quality is good and… Read more

The app was simple to set up at the time of purchase but unfortunately Swan have now notified all of their customers that they are deleting the current app and are going to a new one.
The new app will not sync to my camera and the instructions say that I need to have a QR code on the back of my camera ( which I do not have on the model that I purchased) it also does not have an ID number so it can’t be entered manually. There is an MAC number which I have entered on the new app and this does not work the app cannot find the camera. I went back to the old app and it synced to that one perfectly again! So clearly SWANN I having some technical issues with their new app! I get messages from their marketing Department daily letting me know that the app will be deleted on 30 June 2020 ( in 15 days time ) and I have sent many emails to Swann letting them know that I cannot sync my camera to the new app and I receive no reply! It’s unfortunate that their technical support team don’t care less about their customers but their marketing Department works effectively sending messages daily letting me know that in 15 days from now my camera will be no longer working.
I have informed Swann by an email this morning ( I expect no reply) that I will be raising a complaint with the ACCC because the product does not work for the purpose it was intended and I will be returning it back to JB hi-fi for a full refund!
Do yourself a favour don’t even go anywhere near this company... they are a complete joke they issued information about their new app that wasn’t even ready for download In the App Store at the time and then when it was ready it’s full of glitches!
Clearly they have no idea what they’re doing!!

Very poor product – I too bought three of these cameras for home security. They worked reasonably well for a few months and then the problems started. First, they have very poor battery life and I seemed to be constantly charging one or more of the cameras. It was rare to have all 3 cameras charged and working at the same time. Then one camera failed to be recognised… Read more
by the app. Despite hours (literally) trying to pair the camera again, it never came back to life and so the system was down to 2/3 cameras. Then a second camera failed. It does not hold its charge and therefore cannot be used. The system is now down to 1/3 cameras. Of course this means that I don't get complete coverage and there are times when there is no coverage at all because the single camera is being charged. This was one of the worst investments I have ever made and I am over $700 out of pocket with equipment that does not work. If you are choosing a security system, NEVER choose Swann. You'll regret it like I have.

Fairly good cameras wasted by terrible app - Buyer beware! – The cameras are well made and weather proof. Good all round functionality. Setup via app (Safe by Swann) can be frustrating especially if you're non-technical. I had a fairly good run initially except for the app that's slow and temperamental. Lost one camera after recent firmware update. Camera lasted about 6 months. All of them on solar panels.… Read more
Charging via solar panels pretty good. Getting support from Swann is a nightmare. Appears that Swann had some email issues over Easter. Didn't notice it until today when the app suddenly stopped working. Spent almost the entire day trying to get a response form Swann Support. Had a brief moment of glory with a support agent on live chat and then lost em after i was to told to remain on hold for a few minutes while my account would be checked. No joy since then. I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed after spending a lot of money of making this work - installing wireless extenders, solar panel, etc. and not being able to use the app which you need to manage the devices. So, after all this I'm stuck with a system that's useless. Can't even reset my password as their email system still doesn't seem to work. Had enough of this rip off. Ready to rip the whole lot out and return to dealer for a refund

A Compromised Product, But The Best I Could Hope For – I have a 2 storey house so it is impossible for me to run ethernet / POE / BNC cables from the eaves back into the house to a DVR, so I had to compromise with a Wi-Fi camera. It's not the best system in the world, but the best I could hope for. The cameras themselves aren't too bad -1080p, 120 degrees view and audio. Sure, there's bigger and… Read more · 1
better out there but not in Wi-Fi, and certainly not at this price point. Speaking of the Wi-Fi, I believe that the cameras themselves would benefit with the addition of external antennas - I have always has poor Wi-Fi signal to the cameras, so I upgraded the Wi-Fi. Every other device on the network saw a corresponding improvement in Wi-Fi, but the cameras still have a poor (albeit sightly better) connection - I suspect the cameras are lacking, rather than the Wi-Fi. The 'True Detect Thermal Heat Sensing PIR' is actually pretty good at detecting movement of people and cars, without false alarming on dogs or trees etc.
Installation is a breeze, simply download the app (which is pretty simple to use and makes sense), connect the cameras to the Wi-Fi and you're in business. The cameras have a built in battery, which can be charged with a micro USB cable, or you can get solar panels from Swann which will keep the batteries charged. Without charge, Swann don't commit to how long the batteries will last, but my experience has been that it is days rather than weeks.
You get cloud storage for 3 days, and 7 days storage on the devices themselves with an included SD card. Most notably - cloud storage is free!! This matters because it seems that all other manufacturers are selling a cloud storage product with an included camera. I have several Google Home products, and I can display the feed from any of my cameras on any of my Google Home devices - very handy! Because these are IP cameras I can pull the video feed from them and record that on a computer that I have on my network. These are the reasons that I picked the Swann cameras over their competition in what is a rather saturated market.
I've had the cameras for almost a year now without any issues (apart from intermittent Wi-Fi issues), so reliability has been good. If I could run cables I would recommend POE cameras, but if it has to be Wi-Fi, these are a pretty good compromise.
Not what they're cracked up to be – Security, I don't think so. Intermittently offline and rarely if ever record anything of use even with settlings as sensitive as the units allow. Work at night yes, for live viewing only. Would I recommend them? No way! Show details

and the cameras wouldn't have a clue. Swann fails to answer Emails. The product advertises with the purchase you get free cloud access of two days motion detected data, But with absolutely no way on this basic app to acquire it, As a customer I'm left with no cloud access and no explanation on how it works the offer is two days free storage, or pay a monthly fee for 30 days access. They have a Swann Support Community site that was useless, I got no answers there. Six days on the product has been returned to the retailer for a refund after I realised the battery was not replaceable so the cameras were only as good as the battery life. One cam was constantly going offline. At one point I parked a truck in front of it got out went inside came back out remover the truck and the security cam didn't record or see any of it. Have now purchased a 'Uniden Solo+ cam'' 'Happy with that, easier pared with more extras.
This product was returned for a full refund within a week.
Very Expensive Dummy Camera – I'm going to take my unit back for a THIRD time and demand a refund. Very disappointed. Constant connection and firmware update issues. NB: This is for the Pan Tilt Camera. I can't delete this review but my issue with Swann support still stands – At first I thought this was a brilliant camera with a great app attached (AlwaysSafe). However, after cycling through a few settings I noticed the camera "lost connection" and found that when this happens you have to physically unplug the… Read more
camera and plug it back in. I change the resolution, l lose connection. I wait for hours but still no connection. I had to reset the power by unplugging the camera. Even after the basic settings were set, while at work the camera lost connection and would not come back on. When I got home, had to unplug and replug it in then it worked again, but only for a few hours. I called the Australian support number and got a recorded message saying to leave a message with your email and they would look into it. For a big company like Swann to have no option to speak to a human is horrific! I don't know how they are still operating under this way of absent service personnel. That annoyed me enough to take the thing back to JB Hi-Fi (who are great, this review is in no way a reflection of their support) to get a refund.
My thoughts on the issue I and many others are experiencing is a possible glitch with DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). Meaning that when the camera loses connection it probably isn't able to refresh it's IP or something (I could be wrong).
Regardless, I won't be buying any product in the Swann brand due to their lack of support.
Camera has to be replaced when battery is depleted – Have to replace whole unit when rechargeable battery fails so only lasts as long as battery. 24/7 support over 40 min wait time. Needs outdoor powerpoint to make it useful outdoors unless you want to keep bringing it in to recharge. Needs really strong wifi connection Show details

Absolute waste of money – I have had nothing but trouble since purchasing the 4 cameras. At present one camera won't connect at all. Another camera was the same. recording and doesn't record long enough in some instances.
The battery life differs between the 4 cameras. For heavy use areas I had to resort to having it plugged in continuously. Slow traffic areas last 3-5 days.
There is a lot of false advertising with this product and I will be contacting consumer affairs as Swann has refused to reply to my email.
Waste of money – I bought the cameras and even before I got to use them, well actually I did not use them because the would not pair to my WiFi system. I called the retail outlet and the guy talked me through the pairing set up. Followed his instructions and then checked the camera settings in the app that I downloaded. No device found, so I reset the camera and same problem. They going back tomorrow. Load of #%%@&%$#÷¥€
They just don't charge. Need to leave plugged in – Bought 6 wifi camera's a month ago. Out of the 6, 2 will charge to 100%. Others get to 16, 28, 46 and 47%. Don't do it – I have same product just with 4 cameras. Battery life is maybe a week and a half and they do not connect to the wifi easily (even when you put them in strong wifi signal area). Swann delivers very little – 1. Firstly yes they work to a degree. OK 2. They have a rechargeable battery which take 6 Hours to charge, NP.
