Poor product… Tactix Bluetooth Earmuffs – I purchased a pair of Tactix Bluetooth Earmuffs and found them very difficult to find an FM channel. The Mode button didn’t work at all. I eventually fluked the channel I was looking for and went mowing. They worked well then. I put them on the next day accidentally hitting the Bluetooth button which cancelled my channel. I couldn’t find the… Read more

channel again so I took them back to Bunnings who were happy to give me a replacement pair. I took this pair home and charged them up and tried to program the channel and was unable to do so after about 30 minutes. I then took them back to Bunnings who were happy to let me select a different brand or a refund. I chose a different brand. I would recommend staying away from this brand of Bluetooth Earmuffs..

Very disappointed and out of pocket – Bought 2 sets both lost the radio in record time. Purchased the headphones because I wanted the radio in particular. Very disappointing as now I am left to listen to silence or static.

They're OK, at best! – Purchased the Tactix bluetooth headphones as they were cost effective and had a built in radio. Bluetooth was a bonus. The positive points:- I feel are they have decent noise cancelling due to the type of headphones they are. They connect easily to bluetooth. The controls are fairly easy to use and to feel. Negative points:- They are incredibly… Read more

tight on my head and squeeze my ears. At first they feel snug but after wearing them for longer than 10-15 minutes they necome ubcomfortable. The volume on them doesnt turn up load AT ALL. So purchasing them to work in and mow etc kind of defeats the purpose because I can't hear the music too well- however this could be considered a good thing because it saves my hearing. Also, being a trademan, I work with my hands and have on numerous occasions turned the volume down with my arm as Im working. This can be fairly frustrating. The radio stores heaps of stations but it's annoying and time consuming as you have to click through each to get from, say station 6 to, say, station 1. Also once the battery is a little low, not low but maybe 2/3 capacity it starts interrupting the radio or the song to repeat over and over and OVER again "Low Battery"

Honestly blew my mind – Overall good quality sound and great quality noise cancelling. The PTT function is great, and they don't cause a headache after wearing for a while. FM tuner is a bit poor and I've struggled to use it, but to be honest the radio for me was never a selling point, and as for the bluetooth dropping out, I solved that problem. If you have your device… Read more

playing at full volume, whenever it gets too loud the audio `cuts out`, just turn down your device audio, and turn up the audio on the headphones, et voilla, no more `dropping out` (which is probably just some software issue when the audio clips). But that wasn't why I wrote this review. My audio driver on my computer got messed up after reinstalling it to try and get sonic suite working, that ruled out any type of 3.5mm connector for normal headphones, and then the onboard bluetooth appeared to need an external antenna, which I had lost, so RIP bluetooth headphones, so as I was just about to give up hope of ever hearing music again, I discovered there was a plug and play solution that allowed me to simply plug in via USB and my music was returned. It wasn't even documented in the manual, but hey, I'm impressed. I didn't even need to manually install a driver. As for now I haven't been able to get a KS output working over it, but wave output is working great and sounding flawless.

First I've seen of BT Earmuffs - Not bad, but not great – The Tactix BT earmuffs come in a nice, quality built package probably aimed at being a gift idea for dads, husbands and boyfriends. While I'm not a big fan of BT for music because of quality loss, I am also a tradesman and use earmuffs quite a bit and sometimes for extended periods. The appeal of having BT streamed music while working with… Read more

earmuffs is appealing so I grabbed a pair of these to try them out.

At time of writing, I've only had these a week so I'll just share my initial thoughts and concerns about them.

Pros:

Large and adjustable sliding sides for comfortable fit

Sits comfortably over ears - doesn't dig/cut into/feel sharp on my ears

Rechargable Li-Ion battery, probably replaceable by buying another from ebay as well. Just find out what type Li-Ion it is and you'll probably find them for $2 on ebay

Aux cable input, nice to have all the options

Comes with aux cable, always handy to ave these kicking around

BT Connectivity - works with all devices I tried: Android tablet, Win10 laptop, cheap $29 "ZTE" brick phone.

Cons:

Plastic - plastic, plastic, plastic. Mostly I dislike that the sliding adjuster arms are made of plastic (can bend or snap) and the hinge points that join the muff to the headband are all completely plastic. You only need 1 out of the... 16 pieces of plastic I just mentioned to break and your $70 earmuffs are useless. God damn plastic.

Speaker quality - it's not great. There's no bass. Don't expect to really enjoy your music using these. The music should be viewed as a bonus to the alternative of no music when you have some huge blaring noisy machine next to you making you wear earmuffs.

Heat - I find these muff heat my ears up really fast. They do fit snugly which is good, but the trade off is heat build up and loss of comfort. It's a fine balance to get snug fit and optimal comfort I guess. Note: I don't think the earmuffs generate any heat, I just think it is body heat building up and maybe friction.

FM Radio - there's 2 down points: 1. poor reception 2. I find it really hard and not intuitive to manually tune a station and then save it to one of the presets. I did manage to do it somehow, but I can't tell you exactly how. It should be a lot easier with the buttons at our disposal.

Overall, I think these earmuffs are OK because they are quite good earmuffs. They block noise out pretty good and then add some music too and you will hear nothing. However, you won't really enjoy the listening experience because of the speaker quality (I don't anyway, but I'm fussy when it comes to listening to music - I don't use FLAC files, but I like really high quality MP3, I dislike the quality of most streamed services so that gives you something to gauge my fussiness to)

I give 4 stars for them, I mark down 1 star down for build quality (plastic) and speaker quality (no bass). If the sound quality was good It would be a steal for the price.

Love mine – I use these all the time when I am needing hearing protection. I find that they are comfortable and the Bluetooth feature makes the day go much faster. Personally I found them a little heavier however I got used to over time. I have even used these when I wanted to watch something on my phone or tablet in bed and the wife had the tv going. The sound quality is fine for me however I am certainly not and audiophile.  Show details

Great earmuffs, great headphones – Very glad I bought these. Had them for 6 months now. Mainly listen to music on my phone while I'm doing noisy things. Great external noise suppression and great sound. I use them all the time. Better than airpods in earmuffs! – I love these! For years I would use corded headphones under earmuffs and then my airpods under my earmuffs while mowing the lawn and it was always painful as they would never sit right. comment on the range but I would say it would work at least 10 meters away from my phone. In terms of sound quality I can't really comment as I only use them for podcasts not music but they are perfect for what I need them for. In terms of battery life it takes me about 1 hour to mow my lawn and they last fine, I have not tested them to see how long they would actually last for. Good value for money in my opinion and solved a problem that I continuously had. Love them!

Just another reason why Bunnings sucks butt – You will have a better use of your money by burning it. Absolute trash headphones. Crap Bluetooth strength/range, crap battery life. Worst of all, a constant static/buzzing sound. Returned the original and got new ones, same issue. Shame on you Bunnings. A little bit of QC could have told them these are garbage. This is what happens when you have accountants and not craftspeople pick your stock. Do not buy!  Show details

Very low volume even at max – Very good at cancelling out noise, but the main perk of these is listening to something via Bluetooth when working. This is where things become disappointing. Volume at max is still extremely low. And buttons and volume knob constantly get pushed and turned. Not an ergonomic design.  Show details

Average to below average – Durable with possibly the worst sound you could get. If you love music this thing will let you down and is probably only good for audiobooks. protection I would say that only thing they drown out is other peoples music when on a construction site when playing music. They are not effective as earmuffs either and don't really stop loud noises such as dropsaw's and hammers as effectively as regular earmuffs although they feel well built.

Battery life is good.

Soild performance, but some major design issues – Have been using these in a warehouse environment. Sound isolation is good. However, the band on the head has no cushion or foam, so you have a hard plastic band that sits on your head, and starts to hurt after 30mins. These also weigh a lot for headphones, so again without the cushion, you can't have these on for long. I did a little DIY and… Read more

added own rubber cushion, but you should not have to.

Connectivity is easy, the sound is 4/10, lacking in bass.

No AM radio option.

Call volume is ok, but the microphones pick up everything around you, so it is almost impossible to take the call without stepping to a quiet place.

The press to listen button also sucks. As it distorts everything, so basically not the best. Better off using some in-ear monitors.

Brilliant for the price – I bought these after many years of basic AM/FM radio ear muffs. The Bluetooth and price were what sold them for me. controls and seemed to work better in general. The radio doesn't work too well in certain places like sheds or the cabin of a vehicle but i have only ever used it a couple of times when my phone went flat. I find that it blocks out sound great when i'm in the main factory at work surrounded by very loud plant and machinery. They are 100% spot on for what they're worth. if they cost more then i would be less happy with them.

HOT TIP: jump online and get spare BL-5B batteries and wall charger which are very cheap. keep spare batteries charged so you can quickly swap them over if one goes flat.

Waste of money – It’s incredibly hard to use it, once you have machinery working around you, no chance of being able to hear the music, if some one calls and you answer they can’t hear you as it keeps cutting off, so you look like stupid yelling to your self. Show details

Does more than I expected – I bought these for the noise reduction and Bluetooth, both of which it excels at. The FM radio works well though is obstructed by metal shielding (sheds etc). Do you want semi decent quality? Well this is NOT it – These were dead straight out of the box. I charged them but I couldn’t even get past turning it on. radio signal strength were absolutely disgraceful. The Bluetooth would breakup with the phone in my back pocket and the FM signal strength was also too bad to make use of. I bought 2 pairs for when the first ones die but after seeing how bad they are, I took them back to Bunnings. Rubbish! Not a decision I made easily either because over the past 2yrs, they've made my day a whole lot more entertaining and answering calls was easy but they've totally lost it. little bit to figure out, but there are only a few buttons so all good, or read the manual! I find the sound good, picks up radio well, the phone side of things makes you sound in a tunnel, but I dont use to talk, knowing a call is coming in is ideal, then take it. Only gripe is when listening to FM, it’s not connected via BT so no call notification :( I also found the battery to last and last, both with heaps of use, and with no use. I’d buy again.
