Comedy of failures – Began with "instant power on" not working. Then when they tried to "fix" it the TV started powering on at random times. After 6 months of a nearly unusable TV they refunded my money but the retailer kept a cut - I didn't get a full refund. If you buy anything from TCL buy from a big retailer like JB, Good Guys or Bing Lee because small retailers & TCL will leave you hanging. Show details
Awesome warranty service – 18 months after purchasing from JB Hi-fi the tv would not turn on, just stayed in standby mode. Contacted TCL through the website with all the requested information. They sent back an email outlining several thing to try, if they failed to solve the issue to email back. Emailed back informing it still would not work. Shortly after a girl from… Read more
TCL called and allocated the job to Woolley Appliance Services. Serviceman Jesse promptly came out and diagnosed the motherboard was faulty. Returned a week later and replaced it.
The 3 year warranty on TCL TVs is awesome. Couldn't of had a better servicing experience if I asked.
We are very happy with this tv.
Real problems and support is hopeless – I have been talking to TCL support since February. Power on takes 47 seconds to do the full boot. Instant power on does not reliably work. The TV turns itself on by itself. Sometimes the TV will spontaneously reboot. Once the TV went into safe mode for no reason. Dead robot screen has sometimes come up. When Chromecasting the volume is goes up… Read more
to 100. Once it forgot all the TV channels then spontaneously rebooted.
TCL support has not been able to fix the problems, has not provided a replacement and has not approved a refund.
Pro of the TV: very good sound - shame everything else sucks.
Wifi developed a fault after 1.5 years – I bought this TV less than 2 years ago. Recently it developed a fault in wifi and it shows wifi networks with a message "Not in range". ? I tried all options to make it work but wifi is reluctant to catch any signals. This problem started a month ago and it gradually increased with the time. I have got full signal in that room and I have also installed a repeater to strengthen the signals. Luckily I bought extended warranty when I bought it. Show details
Cant believe how good this TV is – Having never heard of TCL I took the salesman's advice in selecting this model TV. We had a Sony Bravia Full HD and had always thought the picture quality was brilliant, but once we turned on the TCL it was clear how superior the Ultra is over the Full HD. Add to that the amazingly simple Smart TV operation and you get an idea how good this… Read more
television really is. Could not be happier with our choice and the ONLY slight negative is the length of time it takes between turning it on and the device being usable. It was quite a surprise, but then again I guess it is like a computer booting up and takes about the same amount of time.
All in all I highly recommended this product and I couldnt be happier
First impressions good, but heaps of inperfections – Pro's: Appearance and design are good, with the picture quality being great and meeting expectations. It is lightweight and makes easy mounting to a wall. It has Bluetooth and Chromecast. There are ample enough HDMI inputs. The device also carries a 3-year warranty. Con's: The sound, however, is lacking depth and tone control. … Read more
Down-firing speakers giving little stereo definition.
WIFI does not support 5GHz
The Andriod "Home" applications are somewhat quirky and responses in the menu rather lagged.
The settings menu does not provide enough customization around sound, management of the HDMI, Chromecast, and Bluetooth. There is a significant delay when using Bluetooth, losing sync to the video.
Other manufacturers using the Android software provide auto TV power on and auto-detection of HDMI when turning on the Apple TV or media player. This TV does not have this smart but works the other way around.
Chromecast does not configure to customize in Google Home, and the settings options appear to have other "unknown users" as part of the "Home". Haven't been able to work this one out, and not sure what to make of this given it being made in China.
Conclusion:
For a few hundred dollars more, there are far better products, albeit perhaps only a 12month warranty. I would think twice before going cheap on a TV again.
Absolute rubbish with poor customer service – First purchase was brought home and connected only to discover the LCD screen was bleeding in the top left corner. I returned this within 2 hours to the retailer for replacement. The second seemed ok at first but started freezing within the menu structure only to have to be powered down to reset it. The TV then started switching itself on and off… Read more
randomly in the middle of the night. I rang TCL customer support about this and they weren’t at all helpful. I returned this for a third unit which seemed to be working ok for a week and a half until i switched it on one afternoon and the bottom quarter of the LCD screen had failed. I emailed TCL customer support with no response. This one was returned and i now own a Samsung.
Poor Quality Control – First TV was brought home, set up and switched on only to find LCD screen was bleeding in top left corner. Possibly transit damage although box was unmarked, This was returned to store and the second one was set up and working. This unit started randomly switching itself on and off for the next two days and nights, sometimes hours between or… Read more
sometimes seconds. Looks like this one is getting returned too. Not sure if I should go third time lucky.

Update. The third TV has just died. I now have horizontal lines across the bottom quarter of the screen. Refund time.
