Don’t buy a TCL – Slow and laggy tv, my wife hated it, remote wouldn’t work half the time. 3 years and 5 months the screen went black. TCL support won’t cover it fortunately I had paid with my credit card and that gave me an extra 1 year warranty cover. They paid me out and I am off to buy a new TV Definitely not a TCL! Show details
Will not buy tcl again – Bought the tv and lasted 3 years of limited use of about 3 hours a day. Was slow and lots of software issues despite regular updates. Finally got the black screen issue with sound problem which is not repairable on this model. Outside of warranty of course. First and last tcl to be bought by this customer. Show details
Great TV, short life – All the features at a lower cost than the competitors. Unfortunately, it died 6 months out of warranty. Worked well until it didn't - screen doesn't come on anymore. Show details

Great TV for the price – I bought this TV (50p8m) to downsize from my 55" TCL LCD LED 1080p. The purchase was $595 from JBHIFI, excl. Delivery price. I'm very satisfied, the home menu is easy to navigate and the picture quality is amazing. The only downside is the occasional judder. The pictures were taken while playing 4kHDR content: Our Planet, The Witcher and The… Read more

Hope this helps!
Better than expected for the price – My 50" Panasonic TV failed and being Christmas break and in a Port Macquarie a quote for repair was not possible until February. I bought the TCL 50P8M for $545 at Bing Lee following shop assistant Linda's advice and info. Internet research showed it was a good buy so I bought it and set it up myself. I am 84 and had no difficulty in set up. It is… Read more
light enough for me to lift into position on my own. Initially I was very disappointed in the picture quality, being hazy and lacking contrast. I used the settings suggested by a previous reviewer but had to tweek them more. Colour was set on Standard, Black level was reduced to 39 and brightness increased to 70. Picture perfect now especially on Netflix whose movies are probably made using the latest equipment ( see earlier comments re ABC Brisbane.) The attached photo is a crop of part of a screen showing a Netflix TV series taken with a mobile phone with no adjustments other than a crop.. SUMMARIZING. Very pleased with TV so far. An excellent buy.
Good image - terrible software support – Built in Chromecast is a mystery. Works some days. Other days it won't work at all. Lost am hour today with TCL support to do factory reset and checks. After that the tv still crashes and reboots into "safe mode" Tv won't run Disney app. Opens Disney + but refuses to work on internal Chromecast on Disney. My own external chrome cast ultra runs… Read more
Disney just fine
Built in Chromecast is also much softer volume level than external Chromecast on Netflix
Casting from phone to internal Chromecast on Disney just opens from phone app and then says 'unknown device' if cast to tv Chromecast
Won't turn off sound on tv if using Bluetooth headphones
Sounds crashes if I turn of amp during movie needing the tv to drive audio. Won't mute either at that point

DON'T BUY TCL TVs – I bought a TCL tv (model: 55P8M) on 10 Dec 2019, but it was only delivered to my home in late January 2020. This meant that I was cheated out of more than one month's warranty out of the 12-month full warranty period even before I got the tv. And as if it was pre-programmed, in late January 2021 (ie after the 12-month full warranty had expired),… Read more
1/3 of the screen started blinking. But as the 12-month full warranty had ended, I had little choice but to live with the blinking screen. I thought the worst was over.
However, almost exactly two years after I received the tv, the screen went completely kaput in late January! Every time I switch on the tv, I only see multi-coloured lines! No picture, no sound, nothing else! And this after just two years.
I have bought many other tv brands - Philips, Samsung, JVC, Panasonic, Sony, etc - and they all lasted for at least five years each. None of them got completely spoilt after just two years. I very strongly recommend NOT buying a TCL tv. Spend a few dollars more, and get a better quality tv. TCL tv quality is crap.
A Big TV – Covid Home Cinema during Lockdown. Choice said it was ok so I bought it from Harvey Norman without going into the store and they delivered it promptly. It was very heavy and took me a month of bin cycles to get rid of all the packaging. It has been trouble free and gives a good picture on FHD but lacks scaling skills and shows how bad most of… Read more
our broadcast SD TV is where it lacks impact and is probably worse than my old Hisense 4k tv. Its android operating system is snappy and full featured with every app you would want or the ability to access a play store and download it. It works well as a computer monitor with crisp 4:4:4 text at 4k/60Hz and a PC color mode that makes photo editing professional. It is a very functional product and shows how tvs have evolved to be more like computers. To be better, I think I need to find some magic picture settings to improve the picture a smidgin, or use the nbn for viewing at 4k all the time. This size tv would look sexer in a wide screen format if that occurs and the broadcasters definitly need to lift their game and do higher quality free-to-air broadcasts.
Update: I improved the colours considerably with white balance settings I found online: Gain R- 0 G- -1 B- -30, Offset R-2 G-0 B-0 My model is 75p8mr and I updated the firmware to the latest but did not notice any changes. I contacted TCL and asked "how do you delete a pvr file" and they said we are working on it but currently just take your memory card to a computer for that. Currently the ABC are annoying me on this TV by often broadcasting substandard FHD and with experimental extra audio, on some programs, for the visually impaired, which I can not turn off on the TV or a connected receiver.
Early Review for the TV - not yet fully tried it out – I have to place a note - the model is a 75P8MR (75") no option to place it here Now we just got this TV, its picture is fantastic and the response times for things are great, blacks looks great for a LED, HDR is nice and it comes with feature rich content. Bluetooth, WIfif, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Chromecast, YouTube, Netflix and Stan. Remote… Read more
control has built in voice commands alongside a normal remote and it also has google home and allexa support.
As I stated we only just got this and so far I am impressed but ultimately time will tell on everything (so will be updating in the future) The connections are standard, I think there could have been more connections but its OK, if your running a few devices with older RCA plugs then you will need a switch box to connect it as only 1 input is able to be applied.
The sound of the TV was impressive, TCL is really a budget orientated market brand, but am impressed by the sound quality - I haven't gamed on it so cannot actually make any references towards gaming
well I will come back in a few months to give an update but to what I see now its really a lovely TV that I have no probs in recommending

Extremely disappointed – I bought my Tv from the good guys store and with only a few days of use the tv screen went black. The Good Guys store exchanged that for a new one, now after 3 years and 5 months the tv screen went black again. I called TCL today and was advised that the warranty has expired for 5 months so they couldn’t do anything for me. How come a tv can… Read more
suddenly go black ? What is the TCL guarantee with its products? The tv is in perfect condition, we have never moved house ou moved the tv from the lounge. Whoever answered my call today barely care about the issue and didn’t make any effort to give me a best option. We are very disappointed with TCL as a $800 tv has to last more than 3 years.
Please don’t buy from this Brand as I’ve seen there many unhappy customers with the same issue.
Amazing value best TV I've ever had – Amazing best Value EVER. Got the 50" for $404 in 2019 thru the Bing Lee ebay promo. Still going strong. Best TV bargain I've ever had. There were a few issues at times. Like midnight TV turn ons (however after reading online fixes, I simply turned off auto update and done). Another one I do is regular cache memory clearing and never a problem or… Read more

I learned to love and respect TCL over the years. Google TV is a must now for the future, great software experience. As of writing the TV is still going strong!! (09/2019 - 01/2023) 5 stars!! Will consider a TCL for the next big bargain that comes up. Will admit will go larger than 50" on the next one now.
Was perfect till internet went down – We loved our big TV, unfortunately after 2.5yrs we had an internet issue, that was fixed, however our TV didn't, since then it doesn't go passed the 4 circles then says Android then goes back to start again, frustrating, got in touch with tcl they informed us to download an update, to which we did, but to no avail, have rang 2 TV companies, 1 said… Read more
it was probably the motherboard, the other stated it was the main board, good luck in trying to find one and that it's a common problem with that particular TV, so we still have no big TV, have had to go back to our smaller tcl and thats had no issues but we want our big one fixed. At a loss now as to what to do.

Freezing, lag – Laggy interface, audio and video freezes in and out of shows. Audio outputs different in different apps. Backlight bleed at sides of screen, and backlight flicks on and off in dark scenes
Stand by light – Don't buy if you want to put this tv in your bedroom, you have to turn it of at power point if you don't want the bright light on. It then takes age to start up Show details
Good while it lasted, worst after sales support I've ever encountered – The TCL TV was good. I tweaked the picture settings for a better display, and although it is a little laggy to turn on or switch between apps, it was decent for the price. However, I would NEVER purchase this brand again. One year after purchasing the backlight died (which I've now learned is common with this brand) and down the warranty wormhole… Read more
I went. Following TCL warranty procedure was so stressful and downright laughable in the end. I was lied to, told so many different stories and strung along for two months of back and forth arguing and threats of legal action from me before they finally relented and approved my refund. On the condition that I return the TV to the store - an eleven HOUR drive away! After a bit more fighting they finally agreed to approve to have the TV collected from me. I'm about to send it back tomorrow and will have to wait until they receive it before I get my refund. I'm so paranoid something will go wrong that I've taken photos and video of how well I've packed it (I had no box so had to scour the local shops for packaging and cardboard). Wish me luck, but learn from my mistake. Worst service EVER. If I didn't fight for my legal right I would still be waiting for service.
Wouldn’t purchase again – Nice clear picture, reasonably easy to use. The problem we have is it keeps shutting down whilst using apps or YouTube. Have had repair man out twice, had motherboard replaced once, updates done regularly but it continues to shut down. Every time we contact TCL we have to start the explanation process from the beginning - so frustrating. Would not recommend this brand. Show details
Low product & customer service quality – -It took us a while to adjust the picture. It was ok after that. -You can't have headphones and speakers working together. -Headphone port was detached! after plugging in the headphones no more than 10 times. TCL blamed us for causing this damage by moving the 65' tv around with the headphones hooked on! That's the scenario that they came up with… Read more
in order to walk away from their defective product! Not in a million to accept that the tv (at least the headphone port) may was defective. Their customer service reps. sound like robots. They do not listen to what you've to say. After numerous emails and phone calls I gave up. NEVER AGAIN cheap Chinese tv (or any other product).
TV Start got some problems after few months later – The images go brighter to normal or dark to normal as playing PS4 or watch Netflix. Happened often after few months purchased and just feel very annoying...better go for others good brand one! Show details
Good value, but, – Great picture quality. Good price My only drawback is having to continually pair remote to tv for speech, even after factory resets. Has the clearest of clearest test pics come on when idle on utubes, don't know why pic isn't that clear all the time even on HD stuff.? Show details
Great TV bought for a steal! – I bought the 2019 model during the 2020 runout sale in April 2020 for an amazingly good price. I loved everything about this TV. The picture was perfect, the sound was great and there was heaps of apps, plus Chromecast included. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the time it took to turn on. Otherwise, best TV I've ever had! Show details
Great TV (but a little slow when turning on the first time) – So happy with my new purchase. It was an upgrade from a 60 inches that I had from TCL. Definately better picture quality and sound. Price was also amazing under $2000. Totaly recommend an android TV Show details

Wanting more than the budget could afford – love the Android system, price, features, speed of processing. Had wifi freeze and not connect. Tried everything then turned off at power to reboot and been fine since. After kayo use it seemed a bit laggy but cleared up Show details
Great value – Great value android tv. Easy access to google play store, Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime video and all other streaming apps. Great picture for ps4 and Xbox as well, keeps up with the latest games Show details
Great until it breaks down – Good sound and picture. Quick response to the remote. Ive had mine for 7 weeks. 2 weeks ago the glitches started. Slower to start up, Slower to respond to the remote, longer waits for apps to load, periodic cutting out and returning to menu, until now where it wont load anything. Its gone haywire... Show details
Great picture:price ratio – All the apps work well and it connects to the internet very easily. The in-built Chromecast works seamlessly. It took a bit of fiddling within the settings, but eventually connected up the ARC return with my LG soundbar and can control it using the TV remote. Having connected the soundbar up immediately, I can't speak to the quality of the… Read more
in-built TV speakers. The base is sturdy enough. I wouldn't say the picture quality is amazing, with the blacks certainly not great, but that's to be expected from a non-OLED tv. It works well with both TV and gaming through my PS4.
Overall, an excellent value 4K TV.
Not sure what the point of the extra small remote is.
Great value for money – We upgraded by first buying a Big W TV. we returned it pronto and researched affordable TVs in our budget. Hubby bought this on clearance so even better. The sound is way better than we expected and its easy to use and the phone app remote actually works! Show details
Good TV , but can be better – First of all, my model is 75P8MR, not 75P8M. I am quite happy with this TV for the price I paid. This TV runs Android TV and speed is ok SDR content doesn't have any issue. But I have to say HDR is not ideal. Colour looks washed out for some dark scenes and it lacks of brightness Show details
Perfect Television – I purchased this TV after looking at many similar but this was the best in all configuration, excellent.the pictures are extremely beautiful, sound great, l would recommend this TV brand to all. Show details
Good clear tv with better app options – Sharp image, good sound and I like its android so you have more app options like kayo you can put on there. The only negative is it does take sometime to start up and turn on and sometimes a few cliches now and then but over all value for money. Show details
Value for Money – I got the TV a month ago and I am mainly using it for Netflix and Prime. The 4k resolution looks great on streaming. The only downside is that if you are playing a movie from external hard srive, the USB port can only read FAT32 format where you can only transfer files less than 4gb. Most 4k movies are 4GB+. Other than that, you can't get… Read more
something better than this at only $350. I will recommend this product for those who mainly use their tv for netflix / prime. Its definitely value for money.
Middle of the range – Very clear picture with anything that streams 4K. Not so good with channels that doesn’t support 4K yet. Great sound quality. Nice big screen, looks great. Sometimes the tv lags when a person is speaking. Not all the time though. You barely notice it. If and when it does happen it’s on Netflix and Stan. I would put that down to perhaps internet… Read more
connection. I feel you do need a strong internet connection to get the most out of this tv. Or any 4K tv for that matter.
No issues with the start up menu. It’s fast and of course there is the plus of it being android. No Disney plus but you get everything else. Gaming, as my sons are gamers, it runs perfect picture quality. No lagging or interruptions. My kids find it amazing to play on.
Overall in general regarding the tv, it’s ok. I’m not completely unhappy with it. I’ve looked at other tv reviews and in all honesty there is always negative and positive. I will give an update in 12 months or in-between if anything drastic happens that buyers may need to be aware of.
Ok for the worst part........
TCL support is non-existent. Truly, nobody talks they just pick up the phone. I’ve read other reviews on other sites stating people had a terrible ordeal with TCL support and I can 110% confirm that it’s true given my own personal experience. Having come from a Samsung tv and having amazing support, it really packs a punch when this is what you get from TCL, especially your first experience. Don’t bother writing a message to them via their Australian website, nobody will reply. It doesn’t matter how simple of a request it is. Apparently going off others, I should get a reply back within 4 months. I know, ridiculous right? So just be aware that.
I think overall TCL has a long way to go in regards to their support and Tech support and their response time. I think if that was dramatically improved more people would feel comfortable with the brand TCL. You get what you pay for but the tv isn’t shockingly bad. It’s really quite good for the money.
Would I recommend it? Hard to say this early, but for now I would say yes.
Better than expected – Really surprised how good the picture quality is and loving the voice control remote. Would buy again. We mostly have Samsung’s but needed a cheaper tv and it’s just as good. Highly recommended. Show details
