Needs a better design team – I bought these headphones in March 2016. From the get go, the headphones felt like they were built with really cheap plastic. It would creak and make sounds whenever you put them on (and I was always very careful when putting them over my head). The sound quality was decent enough. The bluetooth connection would disconnect so often from my Mac… Read more
Mini that I just started using the supplied audio cable.
Here, 6 months later, the headphone band (the part that goes over your head) just snapped in half when I was putting them on. I always put the headphones on carefully and make sure that they are adjusted correctly before I put them on. But the plastic headband (not to mention the design of the thing) just broke. It didn't actually snap in half. It was more of the material just giving way altogether. It feels like the plastic is so soft that it's like they just went with the clay mock up and started producing them as-is. It gave me six months of frustration with the crappy bluetooth connection, and now it finally died. Time to get a real product.
Good riddance.
Solid Perfomer – Having owned a pair of high end beats for a couple of years - and been less than satisfied with them - I researched wireless options to replace them. I was initially wary of these headphones, based on the price, but a number of reviews I read marked them favorably. I took a risk. And I really like them. Set up (provided you read the… Read more
instruction leaflet provided) was straightforward. The on-headphone button controls are situated on the left cup and face towards the rear. After a little practice, I found them easy to find and manage. After a short initial charge, I connected my headphones to my Samsung Galaxy S7 and used Poweramp Pro as my media player of choice.
Midrange performance was excellent and tunes from artists such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Daft Punk and Muse were crisp with just the right amount of bass. I have these recordings as 128kbps quality (CD standard) and I encountered no distortion or loss of sound (vocals, higher pitched instruments). When I cranked up the volume on the headphones, I noticed a kind of mix of the sounds and had difficulty in distinguishing certain sounds but by simply tweaking the settings of my in-app EQ I was able to regain a lot of clarity.
When I tested heavier music - Pink Floyd, Mettalica, Heaven the Axe - the headphones really performed ahead of my expectations. For these recordings, I went with higher bitrate files (320kbps). Sound clarity was surprisingly crisp and again, the bass was robust without being thick and soupy the way it is with my beats. I tested their handling of classical music through Freddie Mercury's "Barcelona" and Greta Bradman's "My Hero". Here again, the music was gorgeously replicated without any discernible distortion or lack of sound.
Available in several tones, I chose the gold brown color. They actually look really stylish and I don't think the cup size is over the top. They are a snug fit on my ears and actually cover them, blocking out a lot of ambient sound.
I've marked down the package on the basis of the retail packaging which is a little lacklustre and the included accessories. You get a 1.2 metre in-line cable/remote which is a handy addition and a micro USB cable for charing through a laptop or a compatible AC adaptor. Most mobile phone adaptors are suitable for this purpose but I would check the input rating of the adaptor before proceeding to charge. A proprietary adaptor would have been a helpful inclusion. I would have also liked to have seen a carry bag included in the package. The headphones are foldable for storage and would benefit from having a protective case.
That said, The TDK WR780 wireless headphones, are a surprisingly robust set with great sound quality that surpasses many higher end offerings. They're easy to set up and pair with your favoured device and offer both wireless and wired control.
I am really happy with these.
You need to charge them with ON button on! – The reason they are not charging up is because you haven't turned the on button on. They take 45 minutes to charge and last for 8 hours! Read instructions BEFORE going ape. I bet if you did this there would be no problem with them. Try it see if I'm right.
Great value for money – I pick these up today and within 2 minutes I was away. Easy to set up and use, great clarity on calls. They are however a little bulky compared to others but that's what I needed. Something to supress external noise as I use them for work in a noisy environment. For me it supresses noise, a handsfree device and produces great clarity when… Read more
streaming music. WIN WIN WIN. If this has been discontinued by TDK then I would get down and buy out the remaining stock.
TDK WR780 These are great. (Don't pay attention to the bad review) – So I bought these as budget Bluetooth headphones for my Gear VR but after hearing them the sound quality blew me away for costing under $70.00. They are mega comfortable and handle every sound across the audio spectrum with ease even at high volume they channel clear bass to my eardrums. So all I can figure about the negative review is that they… Read more
didn't make this unit discoverable.. to do so you must first hold the Play/Pause button until the light flashes blue, then press it again for it to blink red/blue, Afterwards it pairs immediately to the mobile device.. They do not need to be on charge to power them on, they do not die when disconnected from USB.. I didn't read the instructions and it took me under 2 minutes to figure this out. All I could complain about is the lack of colour choice, they look nice enough in classic brown and gold though.
TDK WR780 Smartphone Bluetooth Wireless Headphones – Rubbish. Although comfortable to wear, I haven't used them because they will nor power on. Charge them I hear you say.... I HAVE... For 8 hours on the stupid USB they give. To power them up they have to be on charge and once connected, another drawn our process they DIE. They are suppose to be wireless, but I need to be connected to a Power… Read more
