TECHNIKA T948SS-2 not good – The BGC builders force this on us as buyers. The oven gave trouble from time to time. Since the last 5 years - First, the oven lamp fused off. Then, the front glass panel came off the glue fitting. Finally, started tripping off the safety breaker. Not good on quality & safety. The response from TECHNIKA servicing is not cooperative and not helpful. Show details
Best oven on the Market – Oven was apart of my new Simonds home. I've had it since 2011 and it hasn't let me down. Cooks perfectly everytime I use it most during Christmas and Easter and utilise all the functions then when cooking multiple recipes. During the week I depend on the defrost feature as I feel it's more hygienic than defrosting in the microwave. Fan forced… Read more · 1
gives my meals the most evenly cooked through with out drying out. Honestly can not fault this product. Soo happy.
How to spoil a good oven with a poorly designed door – We brought a new home fitted with a Technika T948SS. The oven door didn't fit proprley from the word go. Over the next 4 years the fit of the door gradually got worse. We ended up contacting the "Out of Warranty" technician. He arranged to call and check things out. 2 days before Christmas. 3 days before Christmas the oven door fell off !! The… Read more
technician came and fixed the door but it cost me $125. The oven is now working properly. The technician did a good job. He also advised me on an easy and cheap fix to prevent the cabinetry being scorched, which I've done. He informed me that no oven should be supplied and fitted directly to unprotected cabinetry. It's a shame that what should be a perfectly good oven is spoiled by the poor design of the oven door. I have given this oven 3 stars bearing in mind the problems we've had with a poorly designed door but now that it's fixed it does a good job.
Oven door doesn't close properly, overheating and melting cupboards – Built new house and as soon as first using oven noted how hot our pot drawer to the left of the oven gets when oven is in use. I have to make sure pot drawer is open so as not to melt the laminate. Its like the door to the oven doesnt quite seal, am now jamming a wooden spoon from the open pot drawer to keep the oven door closed tightly, otherwise oven works well.
Need to change my review. Found out Technika has longer warranty than I thought, phoned them and… Read more
door wont close properly or falls off which has melted cupboards – had two technika ovens now and both have same issues , repair man said it was my fault that i rested food in the door like a table ( absolute rubbish , as i have access to plentyful bench ) and that i was oven the oven door to far !!! really ?? i have been trying to get a response now for months and months with noted calls and taken days of… Read more
work to wait for a service manager to show up twice , But didnt attend or call !!!
now looking online its a product issue with the hinges , and a common problem , all my cupboards are melted from heat release , which has a heat bar to protect it, and technika say it not the ovens fault !!!!!
My cabinet maker said its 100% the faulty oven issue , if it had of shut properly heat would not be released..
im now seeking other help as the service department do absolutley nothing about it ...
I would like the CEO of technika to deal with these major issues not the service department .
Want it ripped out of my kitchen asap – We had this installed through the builders.. not our choice but we did pay and extra $3000 to upgrade to the 900mm. First time using it the thermostat is buggered and heats up to max straight away putting the cooling fans on for 2 hours after we have turned it off. The hinges were also stuffed. Called technika and the contracters they use to come… Read more
out and look at it couldnt come out for a week.. waited that week and no one showed up... called them and no apology. Finally someone came out another week later and were there for two minutes said he needed to order in parts. Waited 2 weeks and hadnt heard from them so gave them a call... parts were in and no one informed us. Some one came out christmas eve morning and replaced the hinge and the thermostat, still heating up to max temp! The technitian called me and spoke to me like im thick and said to cook something and see if it burns it... and said he cant come back today.. no reason. so now we have a christmas lunch and no oven...
Not only is the oven rubbish, the customer service is even worse!! I just want the stupid thing gone...
rubbish service – my oven door hinge broke last week, service people very unhelpful part is supposedly on order. these products are rubbish. installed by builder I would never buy these products. I was warned about the dishwasher and gave it away. the SMEG service is wonderful fixed within 2 days
Rubbish – Technika appliances were installed with our new home. Just 4 years in the dishwasher stopped working. Last week after 8 years this oven stopped also. I called the Technika service guy, he inspected the oven and informed us that the clock needed to be replaced. Then he told me that Technika no longer stock parts for this model... so I would… Read more
need to purchase a new oven. Amazing customer service Technika. I now have a westinghouse dishwasher and my westinghouse oven arrives in 2 weeks. Never again Technika... rubbish customer service.
Bad customer service.
Not really a COOL TOUCH oven – Our newly built home came with a Technika Oven 900mm model T948SS-3 which we chose through our builder. We chose this oven because of the "cool touch" feature which was important to us as our daughter was 2 years old at the time. Whilst using the oven, I noticed that the glass door and metal surroundings felt hot when operating at 220 C. We called… Read more
Technika who sent out a technician to conduct some surface readings whilst the oven was in operation. The technician said they would check the results with R&D and get back to us. After contacting them a couple of weeks later i was told that the oven door reached a maximum of 60 degrees C and that the AS states a tolerance of 70 degrees C. In our opinion "cool touch" implies that the oven door and surroundings will be at ambient temperatures. I wrote to another company who have the same "cool touch" feature with their ovens and they directed me AS/NZ 60335.2.6:200 plus amendments. Having looked at this document, i could not locate any separate section relating to temperature requirements for triple or quadruple glazed oven doors. Australian Standards had since contacted me to confirm that this was the case. We have not asked for any action from Technika as the oven itself is good but, in our opinion, we feel that we have been misled. We would not have upgraded from the standard oven. I just wonder whether other consumers have been of the same opinion when buying an oven with this so called feature? A good wide oven which cooks nicely Would not have upgraded if we knew the oven door still got to 60 degrees while in use. Noisy when cooling down.
AWFUL – We have had this oven for a month in our new Metricon home, the oven door has fallen off! Apparently it is our fault, so far, Tecknica have not been helpful. The door is still off after a week, they just don't seem to care. It seems that it is broken, but as yet no service centre wants to help us. METRICON< change your oven choices, this one is… Read more
diabolicle. none oven door fell off in a month, no customer support, no service centres, grill pan looked like they had played rugby with it when it was supposed to be new, no enamel on corners.

Appauling, faulty and dangerous – Heat produced leaved burn marks on the cabinetry, the laminex is now marked brown and is cracking from heat damage. It is a difficult oven to clean between element and roof. Dangerously exposed element which has left a scar on my arm where I burnt myself. Appauling appliance which I would never recommend. nothing bad warranty service,… Read more
dangerously exposed element, difficult to clean, useless manual, poor heat retention which results in damaged cabinetry
Dangerous Top Element – Serious burns on both hands from exposed top element. Concerned to see that this is a known issue. Am an experienced and keen cook and this is the first time I have ever had an injury like this. I am also trying to find a manual on how to use some of the other 9 functions without much luck! Nice size Dangerous design
Appalling. Should be able to give zero star rating – Recently had the T948 replaced by the builder after two years of the cabinetry being destroyed by the sheer heat put out by this disgrace of an oven. The top element protrudes into the cabinet and has caused serious burns to anyone coming into contact with it. Simply accessing the top shelf will guarantee contact with the red-hot element. … Read more
Technika's response? "This is normal". Their refusal to take responsibility for a demonstrably defective product is alarming.
We always maintained that the top heating element was the cause of all the problems, but when their technician arrived to "test" the oven, he deliberately did not turn the top element on, and left in a hurry claiming that there were no issues.
Unsafe, causes burns to users. Heat damages adjacent cabinets and benchtops
I currently have two serious burns, one on each thumb due to this issue. Have been a more than… Read more (+1 reply)
Find out how Technika T948SS compares to other Wall Ovens
Know better, choose better.
Good value at the time – I bought this about 7 years when 900mm ovens were pretty rare and expensive, so for the price this unit was a relative bargain. Up until 6 months ago when the fan forced element blew the oven performed really well. Previously it heated quickly (10-12 minutes to 175 deg) and according to other thermometers temperature control was accurate. The… Read more
unit recovered well when large items were put in and could manage large loads well.
Service was hard to find and expensive and the replacement element is woeful.
The unit now preforms barely adequately and cannot handle large loads.
If you are looking for a cheaper oven that will perform well for 7-10 years but is then disposable, this is worth a look. pretty powerful, accurate temperature control, good heat recovery Service hard to get, noisy, hard to clean
Bad – Oven ok but would expect a more durable film over door. Would expect more from Technika instead of wanting $250 for a new door... Looks Good After short time film over door began to peel off. No help from Technika. Said it must be the cleaning products we used.
A great disapointment – The manual consists of 4 A4 pages stapled down the middle. The lack of relevent information is deplorable with such a expensive oven. The oven takes forever to heat up as most of the heat seems to come out of the top. The information on all the programs and functions is so sparse that I don't use any of them and use an alternative appliance. Its a White elephant. not user friendly.
OK – good, liked it a lot. heating up did not seem to be a problem. The timer is useful and we miss not having it with subsequent ones we have had. nice and large and good quality the element can cause burns, shrouding could be a little better. The grill is worked with the temperature dial being used as with most ovens to select the heat setting. e.g the higher the temp, the hotter the grill.
