REPORTING The Roofing Group Ltd, [Name Removed], also marketing himself under the business name The Roofing Group Oz Pty Ltd of ABN 34 679 597 338. It is our unfortunate responsibility to advise everyone in this industry DO NOT DO BUSINESS with [Name Removed]. We paid $5000 to have our tiled roof sealed and painted by [Name Removed]. of the job was poor with a very uneven finish and areas with visibly poor cover. After several weeks trying to contact [Name Removed] to request a review of his work, he finally returned our calls only after another business, with a very similar name, posted to a professional group on Facebook, about our experience. He then apologised profusely and promised to either give us our money back (or most of it) or allow him some time to save some money and he would come back and remedy the finish, which he agreed was sub-standard. We believe in giving people every chance to do the right thing so agreed to give a few weeks for him to be able to do the repairs. He stayed in contact for about three weeks and again has gone silent; unresponsive to our many contacts for the last six weeks. We have given [Name Removed] every opportunity to fix his POOR WORKMANSHIP, yet despite his promises he has not delivered. We must, as reasonable people, take the steps we are now taking and advise everyone NOT TO DEAL with [Name Removed] and his business. Thankyou.

***WARNING*** DO NOT EMPLOY [Name Removed] (possibly an alias) FROM THE ROOFING GROUP OZ PTY LTD [Name Removed] and his cohort [Name Removed] aka [Name Removed] are con men – [Name Removed] has also referred to the name of Michael as his “partner”. [Name Removed] was employed to restore my roof to undertake as per quote completely clean roof… Read more

This did not include the garage and deck roof, however whilst [Name Removed] was here he offered to do these areas for $1500 cash which I could pay off whenever I had the cash – no pressure.

I mistakenly took this offer.

After hearing of other people’s issues with this company there is now a belief that [Name Removed] did not do as per quote – ie no cleaning only banged the roof to make out any bolts or screws had been replaced and certainly did not fix the lead work around the flutes and chimneys as there is still a dripping noise that happens in this area during rain. At the time of quoting, the time line to do the job was 2 days he completed the job in less than one.

There is also a belief that he has intentionally damaged one area above the bathroom where there has been a leak which has caused subsequent mould damage and movement in the ceiling when he banged the roof – in 16 years there has never been an issue in this area.

A few days after the job was done and paid for - overspray was found on a relatively brand new car, casement windows, windowsills on the side of the garage and parts of the railing on the deck. After emailing [Name Removed] about this he was extremely apologetic and said he would come out to fix this all. After a couple of messages and no shows it was decided to fix the car myself and in emailing him this he offered to take $200 off the $1500 owing – the overspray on the house is yet to be fixed.

After a phone call from his offsider [Name Removed]/[Name Removed] advising me that [Name Removed] had had an accident and fell off a roof In Darwin (at the time of him doing the job he advised he was going to NSW to a job and could be there for a few months) and subsequently broke his wrists. [Name Removed] advised that [Name Removed]’s wife had requested to “call in any monies owing”…it was at this time they were informed about the leaks and this was to be fixed before paying the outstanding monies owning. Side note – they have also used having an “accident” with others that have had the misfortune of being scammed by these predators.

It was agreed that [Name Removed]/[Name Removed] would call back in 2 weeks to discuss further as I was extremely ill and did not have the funds on hand. When [Name Removed]/[Name Removed] called back he told me that two of their team had been out to fix the leak and that he was to come an collect the outstanding monies owing.. This was questioned when, as I work from home and due to the mould exposure was extremely sick had not left the house in over 2 weeks. It was questioned what day and what address they came to - could hear him shuffling papers and then smartly said “your address”. [Name Removed]/[Name Removed] completely gaslit me and made me out to be a liar. An email was sent to [Name Removed] directly straight away and he replied offered to scrap the outstanding amount of $1300 and that his “partner” Michael will be in touch with 10 days to come and fix the leaks and mould damage. !0 days came and went and after a couple of emails and phone calls not being returned that is when more research on this company was done and have since found bad reviews and further evidence that [Name Removed] and his cohort are nothing but deceiving heartless con men.

At the time of researching this so call legitimate company, they had heaps of great reviews - including on HiPages…this link is now gone.

Since doing more research it has come to my attention there are at least 5 claims in with Office of Fair Trading and many others that have been stung by [Name Removed] not only in Queensland but in WA.

If you have had any similar dealings with this company, highly suggest reporting them to Fair Trading, the QBCC, the ATO (for suspected tax evasion), Google, Trustpilot, and ProductReview etc.

It is no surprise to see other reviews warning about [Name Removed]. From what I have uncovered, this man operates like a transient tradesman. exaggeration, but I was not expecting perfection. I simply wanted a professional job. I will attach photos of the quote as proof.

[Name Removed] is not a licensed roofer. He is not registered with the QBCC or any equivalent state authority. The so-called "warranty" he offers is worthless, and his word cannot be trusted. He sometimes trades under Clarks Roofing.

He arrived on a rainy day, climbed onto the roof, performed a small amount of hammering, and applied a single coat of paint – which, unsurprisingly, did not adhere properly because the roof was still wet from the rain. He originally claimed the job would take two days: the first day for cleaning, repairs, and priming, and the second day for two coats of paint.

Instead, I came home from work to be told the job was complete. There was paint overspray all over my new decking. I had informed him the decking was recently installed and had even left a tarp for protection, which he blatantly ignored. Now the decking must be sanded back and re-stained at my own expense.

Worse still, he did not repair the roof at all. Sections are visibly lifting. I wish I could attach a video to show the extent of the mess. He applied one coat and left. When I confronted him, he promised for over a month that he would return to complete the job or issue a full refund.

He attempted to guilt me for questioning his integrity, spinning long-winded stories about problems with the paint supplier and how he needed to be reimbursed before he could fix anything. The excuses were endless.

He was supposed to return this morning with his brother-in-law [Name Removed] (who has also lied). I confirmed their attendance yesterday, but they never showed up. Now both of their phones appear to be disconnected.

I believe he may now be operating in Darwin. If you are located there and reading this, take this as a serious warning. He is personable, well-spoken, and actively seeks out work. He insists on full payment before leaving a job site and will use every excuse imaginable to gain sympathy.

To anyone else who has experienced this, I strongly recommend reporting him to Fair Trading, the QBCC, the ATO (for suspected tax evasion), HiPages (if they have not already removed him), Google, Trustpilot, and ProductReview.

He has taken $7,000 from a single mother and shown no remorse.

Do not trust him. Do not hire him. Stay away.

I have included reviews from other people, my scope of works, the fake "warranty" and the cancelled ABN's (all on public record) and the video of how he left my roof.
