Unreliable and Costly – Constant Issues with the C7 Thermal – We have had constant issues with this unit. After spending approximately $7,000 replacing taps, aerators, pipes, and a regulator to rule out other causes, the problem remains unresolved. The common denominator is the C7 Thermal, which was installed less than three months ago. Which, within the first month required the hot water unit to be… Read more

replaced. On a brand new unit. Despite this, I have yet to experience a consistent hot shower. The water temperature fluctuates so much that I cannot even rinse my hair before it turns cold.

This has been incredibly frustrating, and I am beyond disappointed. A hot water system should provide reliable hot water, this one does not. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

***Additional Information*** We are on our fourth unit within 6 months. Each dead. Guess what. I contacted the service company and they said there was hard water. The newest one, that lasted longer than the rest is dead. I had a different plumber out. He said it made no sense. He said the filter has no sediment or evidence of hard water. There is no evidence of hard water in the system at all. He then said he couldn't get the pilot light to start. I AM DONE. He is ripping it out next week. We are putting in an all together new system that is in no way related to this company. He also told me that the inconsistent water temp is pretty normal for this unit.

I also forgot to mention, we would turn the tap all the way to hot to let it heat up, then slowly add cold. It didn't help the issue of inconsistent temp. We also had to run the vanity tap at the same time to keep the most consistence of temp. Have I mentioned how aggravated I am about this?

Unbelievable savings – I had a Vulcan 135L when I purchased my home and was constantly running out of hot water. I had a Thermann C7 installed and my gas bills were halved. Time for hot water to arrive is maybe 10 seconds longer than my old storage unit and the pressure drop with multiple taps running is similar. Show details ·  1

Very bad – Constant change in temperature when in shower or doing dishes. At night a buzzing flicking noise can be heard constantly. 2 months old and already problems. Wouldn't recommend to anyone, unless they enjoy unreliability. Show details

Happy with it now – The unit was making "morse code" noises, which would wake us up. After contacting the service dept, they had the PC board exchanged, and things have been great since. This is our first gas HWU so have nothing to compare it with, but happy with my choice. Show details ·  1

Takes some getting used to – We previously had a solar boosted hot water system (Dux brand) that worked perfectly for 14years. When it died we explored the options and the plumber pointed us in the direction of this system citing that its the best energy rated product on the market. After installation we had some issues with the water temperature surging. The water would… Read more ·  4

come up to a usable temperature and then suddenly drop to freezing cold and then slowly build back up to hot enough to take your skin off. We were spending the entire shower adjusting the water temperature and there was no way it was safe to have our 6yo son shower under without one of us being in there with him to adjust the water constantly. I was ready to rip the system out and install another brand altogether. I had previously given this product a 1 star rating and would've given it no stars if it was an option thats how much I was hating the unit. I have deducted 1 star here for the noise, the unit is on the external wall of our master bedroom and you can hear it kick in and switch off, especially at night but aside from that no complaints. After consulting with Thermann we were appointed a technician who contacted our local plumber who had installed the unit and they went through a thorough check of the unit to ensure that everything was working correctly, which it was. The technician then walked us through the best way to get consistent hot water from this unit. Basically, you turn the hot tap on all the way and allow it to get up to the highest temperature it is capable of running through your shower and then slowly turn the cold water on to bring it to the required temperature. Since adopting this technique I have noticed a huge difference and having a shower is no longer a nightmare tap adjusting experience. When I first spoke to the technician he promised me that they would get the unit working correctly for me and that we would love it and they came through on their word for sure! Their after sales customer service has been excellent and I cant fault their diligence when it came to trying to sort out our issues. One thing that is really important to note has been the gas saving. In our household we have 2 adults and a child and the only two appliances we have connected to gas are the cooktop and the hot water service. I was amazed when our first full gas bill arrived after we installed this unit. Our gas usage has plummeted from 83mj a day to 35mj and given that the usage of the cooktop cant vary that much it can only be the hot water service that has causes such a huge drop in gas consumption. I honestly now wonder whether the solar boosted system we had before did anything at all!

RUBBISH – Bought this heater on May 2018 by the plumber for a new house, moved in January 2019 when I noticed that the heater has a problem. If you need to have a shower ask all the house occupants not to use the water in the house, otherways you will have a cold water shower. called Reece for assistance, and the advice was to stop using the water in the… Read more
