Good budget tv – I’ve had this tv for few years and haven’t had any problems with it .the Tcl 60 inch gives a decent picture for a bargain price so when updating I decided to stick with Tcl and got the latest model 75inch only to be disappointed it looked very washed out . I may have been unlucky and got one made on a Friday . Show details

Great TV for the price! – I've owned this Smart TV for 2 years and have only really had one issue couple months into the purchase with the WIFI not connecting (which was fixed quite quickly with TCL and their warranty supplier in our area.. they even picked the TV up and dropped it back home for us). Great picture, sound and a lot of ports (for whom would need so many) I'd… Read more

recommend to anyone and everyone looking for an inexpensive TV, that plays Netflix and YouTube with a click of a button!

First Smart TV we’ve ever bought – Amazing picture quality and the sound it came with is perfectly fine as well as the functionality this tv has got is amazing and so much worth purchasing for. Got all of the apps that you need like Youtube and even browse the internet with it. Purchased mine through ThegoodGuys and it has got 3 years warranty with it.  Show details

Borderline Personality Disorder – Works when it wants to. Turns off when it wants to. Promises you the world but never delivers. Sounds good on paper but never delivers. Total fraud. Buy a Sony or Samsung. Apps are crap and buggy and never any software updates. Looks good but no substance. Save a few pennies more and buy a decent brand.  Show details

Cheap tv, cheap components – For an Ultra HD TV - pic quality not the best, having difficulty connecting to internet and devices - haven't had much success on SMART end of the TV. Lately, I noticed the screen freezing and unable to switch channels and the latest was a white screen and was unable to remotely and manually switch TV off - had to unplug from wall. Stopped Working – Stopped working a few weeks in. Got a part replaced by the Technician, stopped working two days later. Called Customer support, logged a ticket for a tech to come and replace TV, 2 weeks later, no response. Terrible customer care and product. Already wasted half a days work waiting for Technician to come visit and fix.  Show details

OK for its value – The picture quality is not good. For people who expect HD solution, this TV is NOT recommended. Apart from that, everything is OK for its value. It has enough ports. It is easy to get on YouTube and Netflix. The sound is OK. All in all, it is OK for its value.  Show details

Problem right from the start – Within a month of purchasing this TV our screen kept turning white and everything would freeze. Had to turn if off at the power point to get it going again. Despite several phone calls we had to provide 'evidence' of what was happening so every time he screen went white we had to take photos and send them off. After several complaints they sent… Read more

out a tech and replaced the motherboard. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Apart from that we are happy with the picture quality and the price was extremely good.

It's huge... and smart and has great picture – For a 60", 4K Smart TV, 5 Star Energy Rating, 3yr Warranty I'm pretty sure I got everything I wanted for around $1000.00. I'm so glad my internet and Netflix released 4K movies because otherwise I would never see this baby at its best... fitted my budget perfectly and I was only going in for a 40" set, but was only a little more money so I did… Read more

it...

I have had to reconnect the wireless internet three times because it keeps dropping out and the switching modes or connecting modes can be slow but realistically it's all something I can deal with.

I had to deal with TCL for the cash back claim and I'm pretty sure I don't want to deal with them again, was not an easy transact and wasted my time at first but fingers crossed I don't need to use the warranty.

I would recommend this TV considering it's ratings and efficiency and price. It's a total bargain.

apps other than what is on there already.

Had to call out the texhnicians several months after purchase as it kept freezing and dropping out. He told me that there was an issue with this model, the software can’t be updated from the unit, he had the upgrade on a thumb drive.

UPDATE with TLC tvs, I have contacted the company twice and the retailer to have a technician come out and still haven't heard back from them. Beware if anything goes wrong, customer support is crap!!!!

Warranty and Tech Support a Joke! – Good picture and sound. Bought 4 months ago and unable to access Netflix, You Tube etc. Contacted TCL and was advised that software out of date - so after 3 software updates and the run around just had enough. Will never ever buy TCL product ever again! The Good Guys at Prospect (Michael- Manager) when made aware of the hassles we were having offered a replacement (bought Sony) with free pick and delivery . TCL - Buyer Beware!  Show details

How can you complain! – For a 60", 4K Smart, 5 Star Energy Rating, 3yr Warranty, Bright Contrasting Picture Quality, 400Hz Motion, Ample Ports, Good Sound, Mirroring and is priced below $1K, HOW CAN ANYONE COMPLAIN ! TCL 4K UHD LED Smart 60E6000US – Great buy from The Good Guys, under $1000. We reviewed a lot of smart TV and Samsung came up as one of the top ones. Then we reviewed TCL and decided to risk it. First one has a slight fault and TGG (Kotara) were happy to replace it in the same week. TV has good clear screen and excellent colours. Easy to install Netflix.  Show details

Not that smart a TV :( – Got this TV as a replacement for the 60" Hisense I purchased from The Good Guys after the Hisense one came all cracked up and they could not locate a replacement. appears to be old and we have no idea how to upgrade it. As such, very often, I ended up not being able to watch what I have on my USB as either the Audio is not supported, the Subtitles do not come out right, or the files could not even be played. Also, when using the apps in the Smart functions, such as DailyMotion, the show keeps skipping on, effectively rendering it un-watchable. I guess as a basic TV this would work, but since it is supposed to be a "Smart TV", I am pretty disappointed.

Beware good reviews! You get what you pay for – Read the good reviews but terribly disappointed with the picture quality. TCL GOOD FOR ME – I bought a 60 inch Ultra HD TCL TV recently for only $1100 which comes with a standard 3 year "replacement" warranty. And despite what this website seems to say, this model is a Smart TV. At first I wasn't happy with the picture but once I learnt how to personalise the screen (and there's a multitude of settings to use) I am now pleased indeed,… Read more ·  1

with the picture. you can personalise or just use the many pre-set picture choices but you'll be able to find something to suit your tastes (or eyes).

The speakers and their many choices (and once again) multitude of various personalised possibilities, are excellent. Although this seems to depend on the source of which you're watching at the time. I say this because some movies and TV shows etc. seem to have an over zealous emphasis on the sub sounds like the bass rumbles which can cause that infamous vibration to occur in the TV frame.

I'm sure every body knows what I'm saying there.

But this is rare with the TCL compared to the 10 year old LG I used to have which did this no matter what I set things to or were watching. And this was from brand new and warranty techs couldn't (or wouldn't) remedy it which caused me to have to use the surround sound system every time, to watch it comfortably. I swore after that experience that I would demand a replacement TV if it ever happened like that again... But I digress.

Yes the TCL has more than enough ports to connect whatever gadgets you want to use. None of these new TVs have any "old school" jacks (as far as I can ascertain) so bare this in mind if you want to connect a device which isn't HDMI or USB equipped. It won't happen!

Because it is a "Smart" device, you can use it as a "screen for all" if you wish. Now on that smart subject, It comes with countless pre-installed apps for many different uses. It has SBS on demand but does lack any other Freeview apps and I haven't been able to (or bothered for that matter) figure out how to add them. It doesn't seem to like YouTube very much but I'm suspicious that it may be due to dodgy Telstra network. We don't have NBN where I live yet. It comes pre-installed with Netflix but none of the other streaming services and I haven't worked out how to install them if I wanted to (but I'm happy with just Netflix anyhow).

It is connected to the net via WIFI and works extremely well with my T-Box and when connected to the laptop. I just wanted it as a TV anyway and needed to replace the one I had.

It seems slow to start up but I've got nothing to compare it to in stating that. Anything you've got plugged in or plug in will be recognised automatically (which I'm told they all do) but the main things which made me decide on choosing the TCL brand are as follows...

My son's and partners bedroom TCL TVs (not smart) are absolutely 1st class,

The picture quality (dynamic) when showcased in the store along side other brands was as good,

The streamline design is better in some cases,

The standard 3 year replacement warranty was a big one and... Of course, the bargain price. The next closest in price was $700 more (Hisense) and all the other major brands were at least twice to three times more in price!

Of course, if you want all the apps etc. then pay the extra and get 12 months warranty with that! From my own research into that, apparently there are now brands that come with all the apps anyway. They may align with a few more apps but none have them all.

I can't make up your mind for you, but I'm happy having paid what I did for a TV which does what I need it to do and has 3 times the warranty.

Happy TV hunting.

January 6th 2017 Update: Addition to toeknees 1st review

I would just like to add a couple things in light of the 2nd reviewer from November.

Firstly, yes I agree, the picture (as usually set on dynamic at the store) is terrible but it can be altered to ones desired viewing via the myriad of settings available. And this can take up to an hour to conquer and get right. I have also not had any issues with the bitrate shuddering mentioned.

Secondly, yes, the menu is dodgy for some parts. The pre-installed apps are mainly rubbish and do I cannot add or even purchase /install additional apps which is a trade off I suppose for the $1000 price tag with 3yrs warranty(which was another selling point for me I didn't have to pay extra for).

Thirdly, by the sound of the 2nd reviewer, they may have ended up with a lemon (which happens frequently with the cheaper brands) and is well within their consumer rights(Aust.) to return it if it is not fit for the intended purpose of purchase! Remember this fact always even if you purchase online from an Australian trader.

Finally, All the other 4K smart TV's brands are twice to three times the price (with exception of the Hinsense brand) with a 3rd of the warranty and most of them won't allow additional apps to be installed either, as certain brands align with certain app owners etc. For this you need to by a special additional box. So much for smart TV's eh? Some of the $5000 plus models may allow it but I can't say for sure.

For the price and 3yrs warranty I'm happy enough with it but must concede, if I had known a bit more about smart TV's to begin with, I would have probably opted for a Hisense as my Uncle owns one the same size as my TCL and it is somewhat better albeit the price was twice what I paid ($1000) and didn't have 3 yrs warranty. You get what you pay for and if it isn't up to the standard you consider it ought to be, return it!
