Can’t get rid of chemical smell & taste – I have boiled and emptied the water 10 times. I’ve used white vinegar in water and boiled it, then 3 more times with just water. The chemical smell and taste (in coffee) is still strong and I can’t drink it. Very disappointed! Show details
Do not buy, it's a dud – Lasts about 3 months then it starts to boil over. I put more water in it that was minimum recommended. I let the kettle cool down and refilled. It happened again. This is the 2nd kettle and it does it again. Show details
Made in China – I've had 3 Todo kettles so far... They didn't last much more than 1 year each, almost as if they were programmed to break down a few days after the end of warranty... Still, with cheap chinese garbage, it's expected... A bit too noisy but otherways ok,,, except for one thing... The hot plate inside, gets coated with this rust looking flakey… Read more
substance, probably rust, after a couple dozen uses... It needs to be scoured off but comes back after a few days... 5-6 scourings later the rust stain is permanent and the flaking more frequent, almost daily... It ends up i had to scrub the ''hotplate'' every time before I used it... and soon after they all broke down and tossed... I'm not sure if this caused any health issues like cancer or something but I will not buy one again... HOWEVER, I've been searching for a cordless glass kettle and there seems to be nothing which is not "made in china" crap... :(
Makes my blood boil if anything – We bought the HHB 1771 Todo Kettle. We didn't have the pouring issues that I have read on other reviews, so maybe they fixed that issue. Instead, after two months the rotten little POS kettle has decided just on breakfast time when I am hanging out for my first coffee for the day before going to my dreary daytime job where they treat me like dirt… Read more
and pay me a pittance, and....where was I? Oh, yeah, the kettle. Well, you know it looked a bit cheap and nasty, but it displayed a nice colour while it was boiling and it boiled water quickly and life, for the last couple of months, was tolerable. But now that my kettle no longer works, I am contemplating sticking my head in the microwave and ending it all! Two months, people! This kettle lasted two months and then...nothing. No pretty coloured lights, no nothing. No morning coffee. Life is but a drag! Hoping to get warranty coverage on it, but you know how these eBay deals go. Some guy called Lo Wang in China says I have to return it to him at my expense. Entirely unimpressed. Do yourself a favour and buy a decent brand kettle. Guess where I am heading today (if they let me out of lockdown)?
This is a dangerous design – When the water boils the lid lifts, so when you go to pour, the scalding steam burns your hand. Some poor soul could drop the boiling kettle when this happens. Also, the cut-out switch does not always work, especially if there's only a cupful in the kettle, so it just keeps boiling away, and it's still on when you replace the thing onto the… Read more
power base, so it boils all over again.
This kettle was designed for visuals, not for function. At least it does boil water.
Absolute rubbish – This kettle is junk, l have no idea how it achieved any good reviews. We went through three of them with the same problem. The design of the lid is flaud, as soon as the water gets hot the lid lifts up and let's steam escape out the sides, it also allows steam to go all over your hand when pouring. All three did the same thing..... We ended up… Read more
buying a Sunbeam for an extra $10 and the quality, build and performance put this piece of junk to shame, some things just shouldn't be sold.
Poor reliability – Bought one in January 2019 and it stopped working within a month. The second unit has stopped in a similar way after two years. Suggest you do not buy this unit if you want a long life! Otherwise, functionally and aesthetically it is excellent. Show details
Great Modern Kettle - fast boiling – Bought the kettle due to the modern appearance- it is built well and works just as a kettle should! You can easily see the water level and importantly for me, see how clean the kettle is. Would recommend. Show details
Don't buy it – After only 2 weeks the lid will not close. Expected it to last 12 months not 2 weeks! Kettle looks ok and is a good small size for one. Boils quickly so saves power. Very disappointed. Show details
"This is an entry level kettle... don't expect it to last more than 12 months – Where the plastic part of the handle / lid attaches to the glass broke, so the handle is not attached to the jug at the top and wires are now exposed at the bottom of the handle. This is the second time within a 12 month period this has happened - the previous time Todo quickly replaced the jug, but now the same thing has happened and as it is a… Read more
week past the 12 month warranty Todo will not rectify. This product is not of an acceptable quality - electrical products shouldn't break like this after a few months use, it just adds to the amount of resources we are sending to land fill. Todo's response via email: "This is an entry level kettle for $20 kettle with $9 postage cost paid to Auspost. $20 for daily use would have served its purpose for 13 months period. We sincerely apologies but this is clearly outside its warranty period."
Pretty but short life – My mum brought this pretty kettle some months ago. Has different coloured lights for different temperatures. It Stopped working out of the blue. No physical damage. We were using it one minute Then refilled it to heat it up again and it didn’t work. Show details
Beautiful for a short time – This was the 2nd TODO kettle I had. The first was less than 12 mths old, but was promptly replaced when it failed to work. This 2nd one, lasted 17 months, but is outside the warranty period, I was told. Beautiful to look at the dancing blue light, but I would expect the item to have a longer life. Most disappointed Show details
No customer service for a kettle not working – My HHB1771 was purchased on 23 October 2019 and ceased to work on 8th April 2020. I purchased this kettle through Catch.com.au for $49. I have tried to contact the after sales support for information on warranty and how to get a replacement, as advised on the instruction manual but despite three emails and 1 request through efo web page I have… Read more
had no contact at all. Very disappointed as up until it just stopped working I was very happy with the product. Now given the lack of communication from the company I would not advise anyone to buy this product.

Great kettle for the family household – Great kettle for the family, we use it every day and haven't had any issues with it at all. It's so reliable and ther glass is a added bonus so you see how much water is left in the kettle without always opening the lid. We would buy it again! Show details
Love it as it's easy to use – Love the transparency of seeing how much water needs to be filled, and it boils in no time. My kids know not to touch it as it's hot, but are intrigued by the boiling process especially being able to see it through the glass. Show details
Worst kettle – Stopped working after 2 month. Was a struggle to get a replacement. Once got it, the kettle only last a month. Waste of money and custom service was shocking. Wouldn't recommended it. Show details
Incredibly dangerous product! Does not deserve any rating! – After 2 weeks use the jug "split" in two having just boiled water. Luckily I was in the kitchen and able to unplug the unit which had separated at the top of the glass bowl. I could no longer use the handle to pick up the kettle. Minor difficult in return of the unit. Seller wished to replace with a identical kettle which I refused and purchase… Read more
price refunded. My view is that a 2 week old kettle that splits in two should be withdraw from the market place - lifting the kettle close to the boiling point and most likely you would be badly burned by boiling (or close to it) water. Horrendous that the same kettle is being sold today!
Terrible product – My family bought two of these kettles and they both failed within 6 months. Both also developed rust inside before failing. Some of the features, like the colourful lights, were nice while they worked. I'd buy any other kettle over this one. Show details
I have had two of these kettles die on me in less than a year – My most recent TODO kettle is Model HHB1771. It was a replacement for a previous TODO kettle which lasted for less than two months before it ceased to function. The replacement kettle has lasted around eight months but has also ceased to function. Because of the short life span of these kettles I would not recommend purchasing one. Show details
I liked it but stopped working just after 6 months – I purchased white one by Groupon. Nice to have a temperature sitting function for different kind of tea, works well and blue light looks nice... etc. I liked it but unfortunately stopped working just after six months... I need a kettle right away, so I bought a different brand kettle after this experience. Show details
Great for the money – I had purchased our Todo glass kettle about a year ago, and in that time, it's been an excellent kettle. It has some great features, such as keeping the water hot, setting different temperatures, and different temperatures have their own colour, and the most important thing, is that it boils the water fast. Our kettle finally died on us, but I… Read more
think it's fixable, as I think the contacts on the vast just need cleaning. It's the old thing, never overfill a kettle.
I have had expensive brand name kettles, right down to this one, and it seems I don't have much luck, as even the brand name kettles don't last that long.
This kettle had lasted longer than some expensive name brands that I have had, so I can't complain. I will be cleaning the contacts with some wet and dry sandpaper, and hopefully it will live again.
I have read some of the reviews, and for those with a failed element, I believe that the element can be replaced, just have to ask Google. I have no idea what we did with the instructions, but even though my memory is bad these days, I seem to remember the mention of the element. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Even if it doesn't, I'm sure that an element exists, even if it's a generic one.
If you want a kettle that will last for years, then get a stove top kettle. They don't have any electricals that can fail.
I am happy with the kettle, even though it has failed, as in comparison to some of the expensive ones I have had, it's great. I would buy one again without a second thought.
Modern & Fantastic!!! – Love it! Works like a charm, and fun to watch with the blue light bubbles. Nice, quiet, & quick. Despite reading some bad reviews here about it, I honestly can't complain about mine, best kettle I've owned, fantastic! I hope it doesn't stop working later on, it's still fairly new but so far I'm very impressed. A tip to others about any rusting,… Read more
try bicarbonate soda & water as a paste scrub. Not sure if it will work but it's worth a try as it's polished up some of my other kettles & it's a safe method too, no chemicals

Todo kettle failed and was replaced, now second one has failed – I am just negotiating for the replacement (or preferably, REFUND) on a second Todo glass electric kettle in only a short space of time. Not impressed. First one failed after only a few months, it was replaced, and now the second one has failed. Would not recommend this product at all. Show details
Great for 6 months only – We loved the look and colour of our kettle and for the 1st 6 months it was great then it stopped working. We actually bought another one because we liked it so much and just thought we were unlucky but then that packed up after 6 months as well. Not happy at all. Show details
Was a great kettle but within 6 months it stopped working ...NO WARRANTY – Was a great kettle but within 6 months it stopped working ...NO WARRANTY At seller's request I posted it back to the eBay seller who was going to either repair or replace...this only added to the expense as I DID NOT GET MY KETTLE back ...waste of time and money ... DO NOT BUY Show details
Short life span – After 6 months of use the element has started to rust. And I don't like how the steam/condensation hangs around inside the glass. Never experienced this with any other kettle. I don't usually buy cheap non branded electricals but I needed something to tie me over for a year (and will then purchase breville kitchen appliances). I've always said… Read more
the poor man pays twice and I've proven myself right in this instance.
I have contacted Todo and asked for comment and warranty period am also thinking of contacting the department of fair trading due to the health implications of the rusting element.
Worked OK – Purchased in February 2017 lasted nine months working OK then the heating element failed. Unfortunately, Groupon could not replace it with the same unit . They did the right thing by refunding me in full, the purchase and shipping cost.. Full marks to Groupon for standing by the product...Thankyou to them ... Show details
Great fun kettle to have in the kitchen! – I bought this kettle from Scoopon so was a bit skeptical but it has been a really good purchase. I bought the yellow colour and I love how it lights up as the water boils. It has worked perfectly since I bought it and has delivered boiling water each time since the day it arrived. A great fun kettle to have in the kitchen. Show details
Kettle has now rusted inside...so that concerns me – Whilst it looks good, I had to get another brand kettle today. Six months and with only daily use, the surface of the metal inside has rusted...not happy. Had no warranty in the box, as it was gift not happy to complain to my friends who that it is going in the bin. Show details
broken within a week of use – I had purchased this through an online source and was very happy about the price. However, within a week of use, the kettle had stopped working and was very disappointed. I had also bought a todo blender however that was a very bad product as well (the blender did not turn and the motor started smoking). Will not recommend this product to others Show details
Terrible - burns your hand and glass broke! – Absolutely the worst kettle I have ever bought. First of all, when the kettle has more than half the amount of boiled water, not only does the steam begin to burn your hand when you pour, but the water leaks out and pours all over you! The glass also began to break at the bottom of the base. Luckily I could still use it, but by 9 months later it… Read more
just stopped working. Worst designed product. I cannot even find the website where it's from to ask for a warranty! Outraged. Do NOT buy this product.
Terrible in my case – Unsure if I maybe got a dud one, but purchased mine online through ebay through a known seller. Was happy when it arrived and went to do the first boil to clean. I was mesmerized by the lights but then it all went wrong - the kettle did not switch off by itself causing it to overboil. Water ended up getting on the base, needless to say the… Read more
kettle went into the bin after I contacted the seller and ended up with no response, ebay ended up refunding my money.
I just love my jug – I recently purchased a 'Todo' brand electric jug and have no problems with it at all. I find it efficient and have no problems with steam escaping from around the lid. It is modern in design and the 'blue' bubbles as the water boils looks fantastic. I would certainly recommend it to my friends. (HHB1770) Show details
Terrible – Steam starts to burn my hand after pouring half a litre of coffees. Tipping the kettle further over has steam coming from around the lid forcing me to put it down and grab it at the very base of the handle. Show details
