Toolex Welder 140Amp Turbo Var Acesss 580021

Light, cheap, does a nice weld. Great hobby machine – A basic cheap functional welder. I bought mine a few years ago and probably put about 8 kg's of rods through it. It welded steel with Satin-craft 13 2.5 rods and GP rods 2.5. The welder is light and easy to carry. The only real problem with this unit is the duty cycle as it is quite low. It will easily burn two rods from cold at about 85 amps before the internal overload overheats and shuts the welder down. It will burn about a two thirds of a 3.2 rod before it gets to hot. The way to get the best out of it is to wait a minute or two between rods and it wont overheat. When mine overheats the fan also turns off and that will cause it to take 3~7 minutes to cool down. I leave it for a while with the fan on to allow it to cool right down. For home hobby use it will get you out of trouble. If you give it a little time between rods you could use it all day though. If you are running above 80 amps welding I would put it on a 15 amp supply. The earth clamp was ok and didn't overheat the rod holder worked well. The leads are a little short for my liking but it is only a hobby machine. Easy to strike arc when using decent rods and smooth to use for a AC machine. The trick for these little welders is using the correct rods, some of the cheap rods around require a higher current to start easily and wont weld nicely at that voltage. The adjustment for current locked correctly and never moved on me whilst welding. This welder never tripped the RCD so it it probably well insulated. Cheap, light weight and small. Easy to use with decent welding rods Duty cycle a bit low
