should have been 5/8” “B” section not 1/2” “A” section to handle the power of the motor. I upgraded to a Donaldson 2 stage air cleaner because std filter not up to the task. Best decision ever. This mower is still going strong.
Superb basic engineered mower – Reliable workhorse for my large 1hc farmhouse yard. Over 12yrs old, never missed a beat, never broken anything other than usual wear items and operator mistakes. Comfortable, easy to use, regular maintenance is a given, kept clean. Used every month of the year. Outstanding machine! Show details
Reliability issues – The mower is now 6 years old with about 250 running hours. While the Kawasaki motor has few issues many of the other bits are failing, from switch gear, to braking unit, to PTO clutch. This is a lightly used machine that's been regularly serviced with fairly low hours, but as soon as one issue is fixed something else goes wrong. To add to the… Read more
problems the only dealer in the area offers unsatisfactory service. I'll be looking for a different brand next time.
excellent mower, belt damage is OPERATOR error – Purchased the Toro, because I wanted a bigger and better mower and I noted that all the golf club mowers were Toro. I have lived on the same "challenging" acreage block for 30 years and owned 6 mowers in that time. I broke 2 belts early on , one on a stump and one on a clump of heavy thicker grass, both 100% operator error !! The mower has more than paid for itself in the mowing time saved. Show details
Great Zero Turn mower – I have had my ZS 5000 for over 3 years now with approximately 200 hrs work. The only parts I have replaced are oil, filters and blades. No problems with the machine at all. I live on 18 acres and regularly mow about 3-4 acres. I note others problems but think this is possibly due to rough use. I wash and service the machine regularly including… Read more
removing the deck and cleaning thoroughly. Correct use and maintenance is the secret to any machine and will usually guarantee years of trouble free use. I am not connected in any way with Toro (but I am a qualified mechanic)
Could not be happier with the Toro
best mower – this is the best mower i have owned ,zero turn mow right up to trees.Big fuel tank .Love mowing now.Stan Verra
This is cheap rubbish – All the reviews I have read only seem to come from people who haven't had their mowers very long, mine is coming up 4 years old now and i have had nothing but trouble, the bearings in the spindles let go meaning I had to buy new bearings and spindles as they both flew to pieces as the bearings went, new ones had to be purchased with the dealer… Read more
admitting that cheap Chinese bearings had been used no warranty and I had paid extra for the better deck
the tyres are continuingly going flat more $ for tubes a build up of grass under deck results in the deck falling off as you reverse, always check the front mount of the deck it too fell off as the bolts fell out soon after delivery I am now in search for a mower I can confidently mow with not spend my time fixing
Learning curve – I have owned the same mower for some fourteen months. In that time I have broken two belts; once on a tree root and once in spinifex (type) grass. The first was a fluke and the second operator error. Now that I've got the feel of this unit and its torquey motor, I do not have any problems. These belts are 'slip' belts, do not require further… Read more
tension and are, acordingly. teflon wrapped. Persevere and I believe that you will find this to be a great mower. I've done 110Hrs and regularly mow a 10 acre paddock with it: quicker than with a 6' slasher.
Very disappointed – I have had this mower 1 week and have used it for 2 hours, in that time it has chewed up 2 drive belts. I am mowing a lawn not a paddock. My experience so far is once they have your money you are on your own, and will be kept poor in cash and time replacing belts. Disappointed in the TORO. My neighbour was going to buy a TORO we have talked him… Read more
out of, lucky for him.
I believe that there is insufficient tension on the drive belt, but how do you get help.
The customer as swaped out by the dealer as a goodwill gesture, we sell heaps of these mowers, they – I am the owner of the store that was mentioned on the post last year & I just now found it. We believe firmly that the mower deck was suffering impacts from the incorrect use of the unit in a bush paddock. As a good will gesture (one that I thought would not have my store slandered on the internet). We gave the customer a new mower of his choosing… Read more
on the condition he agree to not come back if he continued using it as before. I am sure that the units are great productive & trouble free mowers.
Kind Regards Steven
great mower – If you have not tried a zero turn then you are missing out on firstly, enjoyment... Second, time wasted with other ride ons..... third... Manourerability is second to none.... .... Comfort... Compared to my old "steering wheel mower" which tossed you around everywhere the toro is a pleasure to sit in. I had a mower left for us at our new… Read more
house we bought and used it twice ( with steering wheel) and after using a zero turn at our business i could not bear the thought of mowing the block with the tractor.
Went out and bought a toro and love it.
Great service from eastern shore mowers who are toro agents.
Super, even on mild slopes – This mower was our pick after reviewing a few others. The Toro with the kawasaki motor always receives great reviews and this is the model we wanted. We have a block with a mainly a 10 degree slope and one portion around 15-18 degrees. It looked steep and not suitable for a zero turn at first. Dealer bought the mower to site and it worked… Read more
perfectly on the slopes and the cut was excellent, much better than i expected from a ride on.
On mild slopes like ours, the mower performs perfectly and is highly recommended.
The mower has plenty of power, always starts easy and so far hasn't dropped a belt. Power, speed adjustment, zero turn, works on slopes
Very Nice Mower – I now have 12hrs on machine and am very impressed fast powerful and beautiful cut. First Zero Turn I have used and I love it. Have a hilly block and this machine is easier to use on the hills than my ride on (22HP) I have heard ZTs were not that good on hills, this one is. Could not buy cheaper on the net! Power, speed, build, great looking cut, comfort and price No carburator adjustments Show reply
Toro Zero Turn Mowers can cut it! – Nothing is more annoying than reading a review when you realize the reviewer has just taken the item from the box and decided to put in a review. In the case of the Toro TimerCutter ZS4200 (20HP) I have actually used the machine for over eight hours now and have just changed the oil which was an easy process. I spend hours researching all the… Read more · 4
reviews on ride on mowers on this site and asked colleagues about the Toro before buying this one. I have 3.5 acres of slightly sloping land across the block with about 100 trees so zero turning is important to me. The footpath area is 93 meters long with a spoon drain with sloping sides down the middle. The block has 1000 sq mtr of turf and the rest has been cut by a contractor for the last 15 months so all major stumps and holes have been located and removed but there are still a few holes left to be filled. The dealer was flexible on the price and even offered a bonus dump cart and hitch as part of the deal. The above items were delivered to my home free of charge as well. I researched the recommended cutting heights for acreage grass in Queensland and decided that my block would be cut at the 64mm (2.5 inches) setting. Having never used a ride on mower before it took me about 15 - 20 minutes to get used to steering the mower in a straight line. The grass on my block never exceeds 150mm so I do not expect the Toro to mow through waist high grass on a block, that is not what they were designed to do. The bonus dump cart is a godsend. It only can take 120kg and a draw weight of 80lbs so grass, leaves and twigs only please - no large amounts of dirt or concrete or you will damage your Toro's transmission! The fuel gauge is a visual strip on the side and is easy to see. There are safety provisions which cut the motor if the operator gets of the seat when the blades are still turning or the brake is not set. Considering my land topography, the Toro is perfect for me and I am happy with my choice. Mulching or discharge - your choice. Easy to start. Comprehensive manual. Easy controls to operate and steer. Easy to adjust to crawl speed and fast speed options. Good seat, cup holder and pocket. 3 year warranty. Easy to change the oil and grease the bearings. 100 hour dealer servicing period. Approriate cutting heights able to be selected. Good price. Would have liked an motor hour meter as standard.
