Tyresales – Bought my Toyo Proxes 4 from Tyresales.com The service provided by the online site and by the service center was just impeccable. Very good tyres. Haven't had any problem since bought. Show details
Not impressed, but they do the job – So the Toyo Proxes R40 tyres came standard. Pros (after 15k miles): - Seem fairly durable, no noticeable wear & at servicing they didn't even recommend switching front & back tyres - Do the job fairly well in dry weather. But I'm not comparing them to anything special - Love the way my car handles and drives (for the most part), but I would… Read more
appreciate a bit less road noise
Cons:
- In wet weather the grip is appalling. I fortunately have never had to emergency brake but when accelerating I often spin the front wheels unintentionally. When cornering at speed you can feel them slip and notice the under steer. This didn't happen with my last car (Vauxhaul Astra 2011)
I feel quite certain that when I get around to putting a premium set of tyres on, I will be even less impressed.
Won't get these again – I have a FG xr6 and I am 60, so I don't hoon but I like to get home quickly without speeding. I put these on because they had a "AA" traction rating. That meant nothing. Noticeable road noise and in the wet, they loose traction easily. The traction control goes ape crap when I try to accelerate quickly and the rear end fishtails. So much so, that… Read more
a Holden Captiva beat me of the lights TWICE and he, she wasn't even trying. How embarrassing!!! So now, under recommendation from my tyre dealer, I have put Falken Fk453 (245/17) on. They grip like hell in the wet and are quieter. I even tried to spin them in the rain (without being silly) and they just stuck to the road like it was dry. So far extremely impressed. :-)
Very good – I recently - a week ago purchased these tyres to my vehicle. I was looking for a good buy of tyres for a period. During the last service it was mentioned I must change the tyres as soon as possible. I had a good deal in I bought all four tyres for the price of three. Excwllent tyres. Very comfortable driving. Minimum notice. Will strongly recommended. Show details
Good all rounder – These tyres are a nicer tyre than the previous (firestones) as far as the reduction in road noise and handling in the wet is concerned. The price is on par with the performance and in this case you do get what you paid for, and if you wait for a sale you can get a little more in my opinion. I have had the tyres for approx 6 months of writing the review and have been wearing well for a daily commuter vehicle. Show details
Toyo Proxes tyres on BMW X5 – So, I needed to change my Bridgestones since they had excessive wear on the inside rear wheels while the front copped a beating on the outside edge. Decided to try the Toyo Proxes ST2 (complete set of 4) since they are cheaper at St George Tyres, Arncliffe. Directional tread pattern looks impressive and creates the impression that this monster can… Read more
grip in wet weather....uhhh.....NOPE....first rainstorm 2 days after fitment and I almost lost control through a bend on the wet road that I travel on a daily basis. Also lack of steering ability at speed on the wet road and also understeer on dry road at speed. Never had this issue with the Bridgestones....even with a worn set they were glued to the road! Stay away from Toyo's if you have a heavy car or SUV.
Toyo change – The Toyo tyres on my Mazda CX5 GT were very noisy, but wore down evenly....the dealer kept checking them at everyservice and give me a report on them.......did also read from a US review that the TOYO tyres were to noisy and that a Pirelli tyre was quietr.....so I did replace after 2.5 years with Pirelli Scorpions...much quieter. Excellent service and fitment, too! – I thoroughly recommend tryesales.com for any tyre purchases. My new Toyo Proxies 4 tyres are excellent.... Replaced Continental Sport 2's which were also excellent, but the Toyo Proxies made me see and feel what I was missing! The fitting process by the car dealer on Peninsula in Rosebud, was a nice way to finish the transaction. I watched TV… Read more
on a comfortable leather lounge, and read car mags while I waited ! The service technician chatted with me afterwards, about the job, answering my questions about how the wheels balanced up, etc.... Excellent service all told.
Excellent – Have a G6E Turbo which came with Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres. Couldn't accelerate even half way on the throttle without wheel spin, were terrible in the wet and only lasted 30,000klm. Put the Toyo Proxes 4 on and what a difference. Could finally accelerate without wheel spin, were great in the wet and lasted 65,000klm. Fantastic tyre and would recommend. Great grip in the dry and wet, amazing life span Nothing.
Factory tyres for brand new Mazda 4WD – I was horribly disappointed to see these tyres under my brand new Mazda CX-5, not the cheapest but the most expensive CX-5 GT version. Straight from the factory. For a car this expensive I would have thought Mazda could afford some premium brand tyres. It may be just the Australian market that gets hit with this cheapo ? Noise so far, awaiting wear with fear as I read the reviews.
Great!! so far – Just had a set fitted in place of old hankooks which the tread lasted forever on, but the sidewalls started to crack after 3 years. these new proxes seem VERY comfy, and rather sticky on a dry road. They are much more quiet than the previous tyres. so far, im very impressed! a brand for a low price, sticky in the dry, very quiet nothing yet
OK – Because of the above, I'm cautious about keeping tyre pressures up near 38lb since grip becomes lazy and the walls mushy when the tyre temperature is hot. I'd consider T1R or Adrenalin RE001 next time I think. Good tyre for cornering in dry or wet conditions on my R34 GT-R Quite grippy so long as the tyre temp is reasonable The tyres go mushy… Read more
and soft on corners when the tyres get hot.
This happened on twisties & sweepers under road conditions and NOT track
Terrible – I liked the tyres and the price, but the tyres were only two months old before the bubbles appeared. would appreciate ant other persons with same problem to submit a comment looks, ride and handling 3 out of four tyre developed bubbles on inside walls in the same area, causing it to blow out. The rims have cracked on the inside 12 inches from the bubbles

Bad – I have 245/40/18 Proxes 4 tyres on 8" rims fitted to my AWD Magna. These tyres are a bitter disapointment. I found mid corner grip average, but turn in is vague even with tyre pressures exceeding 40lbs. My only hope now is that they wear out very quickley! Very smooth ride and very little road noise. Very poor steering response and mushey handling even with very high tyre pressures.
Notso Cheap Plastic – Proxesa 245/45/ZR18 100W were recommended by reputable trye dealer in lieu of the expensive Bridgestones on my 07 Calais V ( V8 so heavy vehicle). Nearly lost it on sweeping bend the second day cruising at 110kph on freeway conditions. Oversteer is horrendous, spongy and sidewall sway is very noticeable on bends and curves. drift under V8 power,… Read more
particularly on hill climbing and crests...meaning absolutely no grip at all. Drive wheel spin at 10kph in the wet at normal take off.
Very noticeable loss of steering control when not in the straight line postion wet or dry. Noisiest tyre I have ever driven on. The most dangerous expensive tyre I have even driven on. Only been on for 6000 kms. Coming off tomorrow, and I will take them to the tip and destroy them personally, lest some inexperienced driver will get them on the cheap and kill themselves. ( Yes I am an old fart!) Shouda got the manufacturers recommended tyres in the first place for the extra $2,000. Yep $4,500 for a set of normal Bridgestone Pontenza for a VE Calais V. Quiet, stick like glue....but wear out in 30,000kms.
Bad – I chose this base on a friend's recommendation who have a Nissan Pulsar. Maybe this worked well on his small light car but certainly not mine E60. I was strongly recommended by the tyre manager to opt for Falken 452 (originally designed for large premium cars)as I was strictly on a tight budget at the time. With regret I bought this Toyos instead.… Read more
My next tyre would probably be the Falken 452 (seemingly getting positive international reviews) if I am on a budget again or if not the Michelin PS2 or Yokohama Advan v103. There is another Toyo CT-01 which is comfort oriented but just like Toyo T1R, cornering power is really just average only. Fairly good grip and terrific appearance and great price Noisy and mediocre cornering power
Bad – i replaced bridgestone potenza with these and noticed straight away they were inferior - particularly in corners. and my bridgestones were very worn!!!. but i was on a budget so you get what you pay for. also had a front tyre recently go bad. unfortunately the fault was 1 month past warrantee. i'm not replacing it with these. look good, price was reasonable poor cornering power, poor wear
Good – Very good all round tyre. Good price, good tread life, very good steering feel and nice to drive on. Recommend to anyone. Overall performance is very good. Longevity is the best ive used on current car. Price is very competitive. Not as grippy as Yoko S-Drive, but cheaper and last longer, and still very secure on windy roads with plenty of feel. No complaints
