Please be aware that as of 2nd of December 2020 a number of Toyota Hilux Diesel vehicles are being recalled due to a brake booster issue.
Absolutely love it – I went with the hi-rider single cab, bought 2nd hand from Queensland, for my everyday car in rural NSW, 3ry 60,000 km's in absolutely immaculate condition, like brand new, I drove up in freinds Rav, as I just sold my 15 year old Corolla ascent, the unladen 6 hour ride back was great on the highway, even on back roads it is no where near as bad as… Read more
some reviews make out, and it is not harsh, it used 8L / 100km, and that was with A/C on ,I now have so much room for my kayak, bicycle, straw for the chooks, fire wood collecting, I love being up high, and love having a manual again, more fun to drive than an automatic, I love that is has no carpet to get in a mess with leaves and dirt, yay, so if your not a tradie this review is for you.
A little love lost – Loved it when I first got it. Good on highway, good on fuel (diesel). Regular services under warranty. Then the letter came about the first of three recalls and then it became a headache. Show details
MMM – I bought a cab chassis with alloy tray in late 2015 2.4 went very well however the dpf cost me three trips back to dealer before they replaced, had seat cushion replaced Im 105k?? I found seating cramped and fancy new dash with all its angles makes it feel worse. Fuel economy good 2.4 D not 2.8 D which appears to be vey thirsty. The standard… Read more
tyres were awful wore out quickly and very scary in the wet even with but ride and power good and it felt like a Toyota, which I have bought every model since 1989 2wd or 4wd. I do wonder whether they are as well built or is it just a great marketing program we continue to fall for. The best certainly were the JAP produced models prior to 2004. I had a great run with those models some how I feel these are not the same. ( I sold this ute recently and bought a Triton 17K cheaper couldn't afford $48K for similar vehicle.)
My new office – I started up a mobile business and recently bought a hilux to set it all up. So far so good. Impressed with the cabin size. It is quite roomy and has enough leg rooms. I got the diesel run one and runs smooth, no noise issue. The only missing thing in it at the moment is having no reverse camera. It should worth the investment once I have it installed. It fits in my garage with one other car. Show details
2015, workmate 2.4 diesel., blue smoke, etc – Hi Has been blowing lots of blue smoke since new, dealer said its a purge cycle on these. This is embarrassing and annoying to say the least, it happens at least twice each day and lasts for severl minutes. Only done 55000km. I thought the piston rings have gone on it or something. Spoke to other guys in my company about this and they… Read more
have the same issues with it, the other things are high idling around 1200rpm when stationary ,the idle button doen not work (WHAT THE HELL IS IT FOR). The bonnet "THE BONNET" what a fantastic bug catcher.
And last but not least that crazy cabin screen which sticks out like dogs cohoonas, it can blind you ,from the suns reflection when the sun is low in the morning or afternoon. And that bonnet again ,not easy to mount a cb bracket in. The gears dont engage smoothly on some occasions and also have the loose driveshaft knock ,as others have mentioned as well.
Maybe these cars ,sold at a premium, should be made in Japan and if not then sell them for what they're really worth.
Lemon!!! Dont Do It! – Absolute lemon.. Even with a lemon law that's suppose to protect new car purchases don't rely on that because the only way to enforce it is by taking them to court. Do not believe anything that lander Toyota tell you! The inexperienced salesman told me it would perform the tasks I required it to do, but after receiving this problematic vehicle I… Read more
realised I had been mislead. Now 5 months of hell with vehicle running rough, very unreliable, inconsistent, oil lights continuously coming on with no resolution or answers to why, even when vehicle turned off by itself whilst driving, I have been told the only option I have is to take them to court. After 13 years of only having Hilux Utes as my work vehicles, I will never buy one again. The total lack of after sales service and being made to feel like I'm the problem, and absolutely no empathy to me not being able to run my business each time they have had my vehicle off the road to still have no answer to the faults every time, enough is enough! You've lost a once faithful customer and I will be sure to tell everyone I know in the trade world and out they should stay away from hiluxs as they aren't like they use to be! Disappointed!!!
