Top value for money – I had 2 of the late models twin turbo vvti and got rid of 1 but im still keeping one and i cant fault this car its very true japanesse sports machine for anyone interested in getting into the sports car scheme without getting a huge loan and i tell you its the most reliable car ive had, ive also had about 12 toyotas in past which include lots of soarers all ( turbo of course) mark ii turbos and i drove them like lunatic and i never had to see mechanic because they bloody never broke down on me, but i had to have the king of course Supra and i kept the excellent example it has 76000 on clock with twin turbo vvti and it puts me smile everytime i get into this power house i know i can push as hard as i want and i know it want brake down on me, in my house im from perth wa no other car comes in our garage if its not made in japan and yes they are old, and yes they still outperform all those fancy looking new toys out there in any way. i had bmw before, i had mercedes and they are puffy cars because every month i had to see mechanic and pay through the nose for repairs for owing that bloody merc, bmw badge. no more.

Best Japanese Car Ever Made – This is the most reliable car I've ever owned! It's very fast and the gear ratio's are very long, (130k's in second gear). Handling is excellent, well balanced and it's a very fun car to drive. Not very fuel efficient though on long trips, needs to be serviced every 5000 to 10000k, needs an high octane fuel (95 to 100) to keep the engine happy. Reliable, Very Fast, Bulletproof engine, Long gear ratio's, High octane fuel needed, Backseat useless, Small boot, Not fuel efficient, Speed restricted, Heavy.

Excellent – My dream car, although it is no longer a dream but reality. I currently own a twin turbo 6spd version that is more or less a weekend car. With subtle modifications it is a very sexy car. Engine is extremely smooth and the potential to produce alot of power with minor modifications is tempting. Handle really well although it weighs in at a hefty 1550kg. You wouldn't pick it though behind the wheel. Its a great car in general. Ashame that Toyota never brought out a replacement, maybe it was too hard to improve upon. - 2JZ-G(T)E one of the best engines from Toyota/Yamaha
- True sports car
- Style and design - How can you dislike it???
- Fuel economy, but keeps you happy
Excellent – A car worthy of mention. Outside and inside styling combined with the techs was way ahead of its time. had test drove one (second had). Full blitz body kit. lowered with 18" Toms racing rims. Excellent handling. Low to the ground. The driver's cockpit is body hugging yet confortable. Good handling at high speeds. Responsive steering. Power and torque throughout the rev range. Good boost response even when boosted to 18psi. 2JG GTE + 6spd gearbox + torsen diff = Bullet proof car. Potential to produce 600Hp without internal mods only bolt on. Sets the benchmark on sports car reliability. one of the best JDM sports cars ever. the Limited editions were very sort after. consistant all round performer. Heavy at 1550kg and thirsty on fuel for the TTs.
Rear seats not practical. Boot storage space is premium.
Hard to drift with all that weight.
Good – A well balanced car with high limits for handling (even for a 'big car'). Straight line response and speed is formidable - the top end power of these cars is impressive and when unrestricted can reach 280kmh. At the higher speeds the supra is well composed (weight, dynamics and wide track). Whoever says that Toyota only make boring cardigan cars really should drive one of these, even the non-turbo variants are competant sports cars in their own right. I helped fit aftermarket traction control to some of these cars with fantastic results. Due to the competance of the MKIV supra as a sports tourer, it's a shame that production ceased in 2002 (emissions) and it remains to be seen if a MKV will be released in the future. Fantastic all-round performance. The Mark IV twin turbo system in this car is dare I say smoother than the TT set ups in R32 or 33 GTRs, Liberty B4s, 300ZXs or B5 Audi S4s - and I have driven all the cars mentioned. Modification potential to unleash even more power from the Supra is easily had. The standard offering of 206kw and 440nm are provided in a thick useable power band and rolling response is exceptional. Timeless looks. Most cars are compromised in some way shape or form, and the Supra suffers from a lack of practicality when it comes to boot (tiny) and room for passengers. Some also don't like the anti social nature of the cockpit which curves around the driver. Standard traction control is intrusive and clumsy. As usual check for rust on grey imports.
