Verbatim Active Noise Cancelling Headset
Verified1 review
Doesn't have it's own mute and volume control built in. Ear cups need to be worn in/broken in – This is from a working in an office or call centre environment viewpoint. No side tone. Not wireless. Earcups don't fully enclose ears and were making my ears sore at first later in the day. Once worn in, they're better and help with background noise blockout. A bit heavy at first too. Active noise cancelling is great. Wind from constant and varying aircon can confuse the ANC if directly being blown on to them, (most ANC devices suffer form that). ANC needs external charging with the micro usb cable. Don't think it can charge will in use at the same time (not recommended).
If your voice is soft and gets tired through the day like mine, adding a wind filter is ideal for closer volume but not necessary. Sound is great if you plug it in through an external device like an external sound card. Orico ones are pretty good. Jabra and Mpow ones might work with it ok too. External sound cards are good with it as it doesn't have it's own volume control, volume regulation or mute feature. As is, it's just purely a 3.5 mm jack connection which can be risky to acoustic incidents or surges depending on the computer's sound card, the software platform or phone line to a customer.
If you hear your own playback or voice through these, you might think you're sounding bassy to the customer, but that will just be the natural bass qualities of the speakers themselves. Not the microphone (you'll still sound clear to them). Sounds dumb, but hold music becomes enjoyable due to the fullness of the speakers.
Messing around with this headset by wearing it in and adding things like sound cards and wind filters is worth it if you're in a loud office and you're after both active noise cancelling for the speakers and noise cancelling for the microphone. Usually that combo is expensive (300 and up). But as is, it's only a standard, hit and miss headset that could be annoying to some.
