Terrible waste of money – Absolute waste of money, and terrible company to deal with . Had 3 cameras fail . They try charging you for the re sending of replacement. Please dont waste your money
Keeps resetting from new and still with supplier – Have been a fan of Viofo until now. Contacted them everyday for a couple of weeks as the unit keeps resetting. They gave me some instructions to try but no luck. Sent the unit back and the technicians still aren’t able to diagnose after another 2 weeks. This is unacceptable that it’s taking too long. Clearly it’s faulty so just replace the unit or… Read more
give me a refund!!!!
Will never buy again due to poor customer service.
Buyer beware…go for another brand and save yourself some headaches as you will be buying something else while Viofo just hold on to a faulty unit
Replacement sent even out of warranty – So, the power in my front dash cam went. It was out of warranty by a few years but I contacted VIOFO customer support to see if they had any solutions. I returned my camera to them with a payment if USD 30 and on receipt of sending item they immediately posted me out another camera. Fantastic customer service and great communication. Thank you for making it so easy to solve. Not often that happens with products today. Show details
Not without shortcomings – First I like to review only after using a product for several months to avoid 'Honeymoon Period' or 'Buyers remorse'. Good: Adequate to good daytime video. Can be removed easily for footage download to PC. Crash detection works - tested with NSW potholes..lol Bad: Feels only like a cosmetic upgrade to 4K from older models, for example an old… Read more
fashioned slow USB port. Status lights are so dim they are next to useless - again same as old models. Night footage unless in well lit city streets is horrible. (Gopro leaves it for dead, and Gopro is renowned for poor low light) Clumsy button interface. Viofo App is dreadful, never connects by WiFi automatically, have to press a button dashcam as well as phone then exit and restart App. Have to stop dashcam recording to change anything by App.
Lasted less than 12 months – I ordered this in January 2021, and I installed it. I had issues with my rear camera being dark and hazy. I contacted BG in June, and they sent a FULL replacement out. I attached the new replacement camera to it. Though and behold, I am embarrassed to say there was a camera lens protector on it. LOL. Anyway, it worked well but I would keep… Read more
getting it beeping, usually after I took out the Samsung Recommended EVO security card (which was formatted in the device). Eventually, I had a Road rage incident, and discovered it hadn't been recording. I put the replacement in, and it is now working fine.
Battery killer. And simply doesn’t do what it should – I had cameras professionally installed by an auto electrician into my 2021 Mercedes’. Quality of recording is fine. Front and rear cameras record to an acceptable standard. The issue is that the instructions are terrible, and the five buttons make no logical sense. The app does not connect easily and when it does, the changes do not appear to be… Read more
implemented. My biggest issue is that I have to disconnect this camera every time I park the car overnight as it continues to run non stop and my battery drains. The other day I was unable to start the engine as I had forgotten to disconnect the camera for two days. We used the supplied wiring harness which has the auto cut off switch but clearly it does not work. Dash cams should just work. I have turned all parking mode off - which is annoying as that’s one of the features I liked about this camera. But even after turning everything off, my as card was full of clips of my garage….and the car battery was dead. New dash cam comes tomorrow and I will never ever touch VIOFO products again. I do not recommend this product
Only lasted 14 months and Stop working do not buy – If I can give it a 0 I would, the dash cam is ok when it is working but it only lasted 14 months and then died. Forget about warranty and customer support, once it’s outside the warranty period they do not want to know you. You have been warned DO NOT BUY….. Show details
Didn't last for a year and no warranty – - To install the dash cam and use fully feature, the technician needed. - The footage is great but need a polarizing len to reduce a reflection. - The connectivity is relatively slow over the wifi signal. I started to have an issue after 6 months using it. The dash cam just randomly stop working. Show details
I am very sorry I bought it **UPDATE** – ** UPDATE ** My unit died completely about a month ago. It killed my battery first. It was about 2~3 days out of the extended warranty period. I contacted the support service and asked if I could get a replacement/repair. After a number of emails back and forth, saying that the unit was out of warranty I finally arranged to get a replacement. I… Read more
sent the unit back in original box and finally get a replacement in a plastic bag. The replacement unit (I believe) is a returned unit or as it turned out, a faulty unit. Since I installed it, it has flattened my battery a number of times. In use the unit will continually restart, so it is drawing power continually. I’ve taken the unit inside and tried on a power supply and it will do the same. I believe that is over heating and it has a cut out, so it will continually restart. I haven’t contacted support, last time was too stressful and I would possibly only get another returned unit. So I still would not recommend this unit.
Viofo A129 Duo Dual Channel 5GHz Wi-Fi Full HD Front and Rear Dash Camera I have had this unit for about 3 months now and all I can say is that I am very sorry I bought it. When this unit works it works well but the design flaws are what make this unit a very bad investment in my opinion. Upshot is you never know when it is working and when it is not. If it is needed in an accident situation you could get a very rude surprise. My reasons below.
• I must say upfront, the video quality is very good @ HD1080 both front and back and installation was easy (the in-car part I had installed professionally) … now read on. • It claims it is Wi-Fi enabled … well that is a loose claim at best, if it works (I got it to work) it is so flaky and slow as to be mostly useless. • MAJOR FLAW .. Because of the unit design and the way and angle that it adheres to the windscreen, you cannot see if it is on because of the glare/light coming from outside, you practically have to do acrobatics and twist down between the steering wheel and gear stick to see the dim small screen. The screen goes black after a time and the LED indicators are so dim that you can’t see them against the glare/light coming form outside. • I have my unit professionally installed with a in-car power system so that it will be on all the time without flatting the battery, for motion detection and so it will automatically go into wake-up/record mode when I start the car. This works occasionally, but because I can’t see the screen or LED’s it is impossible to say if and when it is working. • I also bought a Bluetooth remote button so that I could lock a file when I wanted, On first install it needs to be paired and then just press when you want to lock a file. This is a great idea if it would work which it doesn’t most of the time. This is how I find out my dash-camera is not on as I need to pair it again 90% of the time.
If the unit was reliable and came on when it was supposed to I could live with the design flaw but it doesn't a lot of the time, so the design flaws exacerbate the problems.

Great camera, just not for Australia – Camera was easy to install and gave great quality footage, especially at the price point. The build quality is not the greatest and clearly not suited to the weather in Melbourne. After 6 months an 1 summer (2019-20) both units attached to the front windscreen melted and buckled to the point the camera was unusable. Show details
Good value dual camera with some issues – First experience with a dash camera & I think overall the A129 duo is a good value camera system. I've been using the camera for about 1 month. Initially using front camera only & plugged into cigarette lighter accessory for power, the camera had no issues. Issues started after I installed the ACC HK3 wire kit for Park Mode (installed correctly… Read more
with wiretaps & correct orientation of line & load). Using a Samsung pro endurance 64g card which I don't think is the problem. So potentially could be a camera/firmware or wire kit issue.
First problem I notice is the camera will randomly restart itself whilst driving (all cables are securely attached). Not end of the world but potentially could miss vital recording if an incident were to happen). The second problem seems to happen when in Park Mode. When I return to the car & park mode is recording, as soon as I start the engine, the camera will crash and render unresponsive (not all the time but most). No beeps if I press any buttons to wake camera and doesn't record anything - the only way to reset camera is to cut power from the device (I pull the camera off the power module and wait about 10 seconds). When I reconnect the camera it works fine again.
Lastly, I live in Melbourne & the time is GMT +10 but when I check the time stamp on footage it is always 1 hour behind. I tried syncing with iphone time & it's still the same. So in order to get the true time, I have to use GMT +11.
Overall, it's an affordable dual camera system with park mode, good build quality & footage. Easy to install & operate. Hopefully flaws get addressed & would recommend the camera. Perhaps the next firmware update will address all the above issues.
Good value, easy to install good size – Hi, so i really needed a good dash cam that was both reliable and didnt cost an arm and a leg and this one seemed to be the way to go when i did days and days or research. It is small in size and as it sits behind my rear view mirror it is a refreshing change from the old one that used to size much more bulkier under the mirror. I like for ease… Read more
that it has a screen so you dont have to use the app and it makes setting up the camera angle easy to set up. You get an installation tool that makes installing the cables a breeze so i think it only took me 15mins to set up the front and rear cables done. I am happy with the picture quality it is very good for the cost price. In addition another main issue i have had in the past with dash cams is the adhesive or suction cap or swivel that the camera was attached to and i can so far say that i have had no issues as i leave my car parked out in the sun all day do heat wise so far so good as the plastic on my last camera actually warped in the heat, lucky for me it was insured. Hot tip, if you register the camera at Viofo you will get an extra 6months warranty time on the product.
Affordable and best you can get at this price range – Easy to set it up with the tool provided, rear camera can be a bit tricky on line the cable, but didn manage to a nice finish with help of YouTube. Picture quality is good during day, normal at night. Wifi connection is very handy but if you want to browse across multiple videos soomthly, you might still want to take the sd card out. sometimes find the camera doesn't start automatically when car is powered up, about 1 in 20 chance, I don't think I had this problem before with my old blackvue, not sure if this is common to this, will see
Find out how Viofo A129 Duo compares to other Dash Cams
Know better, choose better.
Viofo A129 Duo is easy to install and good value – The batteries in my old A118's had finally died after 5 years (not bad!). I decided to look for a similar type dashcam and found the A129 Duo on linelink.com.au. GPS + WiFi + backup battery makes the A129 Duo much better value. It was fairly easy to install. Removal of the old dashcams took me a few hours due to the strong adhesive. I had about a… Read more
foot left for the front and rear USB cables after installing the cables in my fairly small car. If you have a large vehicle, then you might want to consider getting a longer cable or some other front/rear dashcam combination.
I read the manual after getting stuck trying to find out how to access the Main Menu. I had to press REC first to disable recording so that the Main Menu button would work!
Before hitting the road, I checked Viofo for firmware updates. They had released a new update for the A129 firmware yesterday. Talk about supporting a product!
The glare is a bit annoying. The A129 mount seems to create a slightly bigger gap between the dashcam and the glass compared to the A118. I'll get a CPL filter to reducee the glare.
Premium Features at Half the Price of Expensive Dash Cams – Bought this dash cam online from Linelink Online. This is my third dash cam purchase...first was a DOD RC500s for my car and second was Thinkware F770 for my partner's car, both expensive dash cams. My DOD RC500s dies after 1.5 years...yep. The Viofo A129 Duo is the replacement and I have to say I am very impressed by the build quality and video… Read more
quality. I installed it myself using my current DOD DP4 hardwire kit that I had been using with the DOD RC500s. The 2' screen is big enough to navigate through and setup the dash cam but I also love that you can connect to it via 5G wifi and the android app is far superior than the DOD app.
The latest firmware 1.8 finally has buffered parking which most users were hanging out for. I didn't buy the Viofo hardwire kit as I wanted to use it with my DP4 and the parking mode still works with it. Instead of switching to parking mode instantly after switching the ignition off, it waits about 3 minutes for non-movement which is not a big deal for me.
For the price, the a129 is up there with the more expensive so-called "premium" dash cams in terms of features and quality. The price is in the budget category but the dash cam itself could easily be sold for more for what it does. I thought I had bought a premium dash cam when I bought the DOD RC500s but it only lasted a year and half and I didn't get good support from DOD at all. Viofo however gave me great service before I even bought the dash cam and post purchase. They are also quite active on Dashcam Talk forum. I am very happy with this dash cam and my only regret is not knowing about them at the time I bought the other dash cams over a year ago
Best Value Dashcam – First up let's talk about the quality of the footage, which I was very impressed by, comparing it to the premium BlackVue DR750s which by the way is 2.5X more expensive, it actually provided a much sharper image - both in the day and in the night. The audio quality was also better recording at 32khz instead of 16khz. You can view footage of the… Read more

The A129 features tactile buttons and a LCD screen which isn't necessary if you have a good app, but it still felt good using buttons instead of always connecting via Wifi to customise the settings.
One of my favourite features of the A129 is that it uses standard USB for power, which means you can accessorise it with a standard external power bank instead of using the car's battery to run the unit and risk a dead battery.
Recording length can be set to 10 minute segments which is greater than BlackVue's 3 minute limit, and best of all I didn't notice any dropped frames between the footage, unlike the 750S which drops upto 27 frames between segments.
You can connect to the A129 via 5GHz Wifi which allows the transfer of files at a much faster rate than the 750S's 2.4GHz. The negative however is that you can't transfer files over Wifi without first pausing the recording of the camera, with the BlackVue you can transfer while continuously recording.
Finally, the power cables of the A129 attach directly to the base of the camera which is unpluggable which means you can easily detach the dash cam without having to unplug everything like you do on the 750s.
Overall, at 2.5X the price and arguably better quality, the A129 is exceptional value.
