Update: I found a contact email deep in the warranty terms annd conditions and once they got in contact support where extremely helpful and replaced the unit no questions asked. It’s disappointing that the web form didn’t work but at least I got the results when I actually got in contact. New unit works well. …………….. Extremely Disappointing –… Read more

Faulty Unit and No Support

I purchased this Vitamix with high expectations, but from day one it has been nothing but frustration. The “smart” jug almost never recognises that it’s sitting on the base. I often have to take it on and off repeatedly—sometimes for 10 minutes—before it finally registers. Even when it does start, I need to hold it down to stop it from cutting out mid-blend.

On top of that, the machine has had a strong electrical burning smell since the first week and it still hasn’t gone away after nearly two months of use.

What’s even more disappointing is the customer service. I’ve reached out twice through the official webform and haven’t received a single response. One of the main reasons I chose Vitamix was the reputation for quality and excellent support, but so far that reputation hasn’t matched my experience at all.

For such an expensive product, this has been incredibly underwhelming. I really hope Vitamix sees this and finally gets in touch to resolve the issue, because right now I couldn’t recommend this model based on my experience.

If you choose to buy this, your experience with it will essentially come down to luck. When it works, the product itself is very good. It blends what you put into it finely. A bit noisy but that's to be expected of a consumer blender. I basically only use it to make single serve smoothies and it has stopped blending for me one and a half years… Read more

in.

Believe it or not, somehow this ended up not being the biggest issue I have with this model and Vitamix in general.

At time of writing, this is a $1000 product with a 10 year warranty. You would probably think to yourself, "No worries, just send this in to get repaired or replaced."

You probably already suspect now where I'm going with this.

To claim warranty, Vitamix Australia directs you to contact a company called Fackelmann to arrange a repair. After a couple of emails with their representative, I get a return label and mail the unit to their repair agent in the Central Coast. Their commitment is a resolution within 4 weeks.

At 3 weeks, no one's contacted me so I email Fackelmann for an update. They say they'll contact their repair agent then let me know.

Fackelmann doesn't contact me back so I email them again whereupon which the representative says they're still waiting on the repair agent to respond. An entire week has elapsed and nobody from Fackelmann has bothered to reach out with an update.

So basically, I've sent in this unit to where Vitamix have told me to send it for repair and no one knows what's happened to it.

At this point, I've essentially resigned myself to needing to report Vitamix Australia to NSW Fair Trading for not honouring their warranty. The way this has gone, I half anticipate I'll need to subsequently take Vitamix Australia to Small Claims Court to get a resolution.

Yes. Small Claims Court. For a blender.

To conclude: it's good when it works but really think about whether you're up for something like the above if you ever need them to actually keep their promises when your model breaks down.

Great blender and highly recommended! – I got a Vitamix a2500i a few weeks ago and I gotta say I’m impressed! - easy to clean- just put in water and dishwasher liquid and give it a 30s buzz - makes hot soups but be warned, they’re not “cooked” so probably not a good idea to use meat - makes hot chocolate, but probably quicker in microwave - can use it for shredded cheese and carrot -… Read more

the app is great- so many recipes and all you have to do is connect it to the blender via Bluetooth and it does it all itself! - exceptional build quality - can be noisy but I think for the power you kinda expect a blender to be noisy! - really good for nuts and berries. I hated my old blender because it couldn’t crush raspberry seeds, while with the Vitamix everything comes out silky smooth - comes with 3 preset functions, I actually find these quite handy as can make a smoothie or soup and walk away and do other stuff without worrying about the blender breaking or anything. If you connect the app to the blender there’s more functions there too.

I probably wouldn’t recommend this blender for people who only do small batches of blends, maybe buy the e310 instead. If you don’t put enough in the food gets stuck under the blade and can’t blend.

Should also mention that I saw a hack on YouTube that it’s important to wipe the container dry after cleaning so it doesn’t go cloudy. Also don’t wash it in the dishwasher or soak it in water as I noticed water has gotten stuck underneath the base and it can’t be wiped off.

Other than that I highly recommend the Vitamix a2500i! I can’t go back to a normal blender ever again!

Absolutely rubbish – Purchased from Harvey Norman for $1100. Used it for the first time the next day and now does not work. According to customer service the jug is faulty. Highly disappointed and do not recommend Show details

A workhorse, but don't get the smart Ascent series – Blends most things well to a smooth velvety liquid. But it can leave some frozen items as a small ball, because the blades can't quite get to them. You will use the tamper more often than the videos you'll see on YouTube and TV ads. Don't keep it on longer than required because the contents will get warm. I've never been able to make ice creams… Read more ·  3

like on TV.

The soup function works as advertised. I would suggest roasting or sauteeing some of the ingredients to get more rounded flavours.

Nut butters work perfectly. Hint: always use roasted nuts. Unroasted nuts won't turn to butter.

Follow rawblend on YouTube for great recipe ideas.

The smart function that automatically recognises all the bowl types is the main reason I won't give this a 5 star rating.

(a) Vitamix doesn't sell all of the smart bowl types in Australia - eg the dry blender with the inverted blades. Don't buy one from Amazon like I did because the US models and non-smart bowls are locked out by software.

(b) you can't start it until the main unit registers the bowl when you place it on top. But 8 out of 10 times it doesn't, especially with the smaller bowls with the screw on blades (vs build in blades). Then you spend more time adjusting the bowl than actually blending.

(c) you will never ever use the Bluetooth aided recipes anyway. You will just eyeball the consistency and add ingredients as needed.

So my advice would be to get the manual version with a set of bowls - wet, dry and ones for spices and smoothies - if you're after a workhorse blender.

Stopped working on second day – Although i was going to use this commercially i brought it home to test out its performance on a few shakes, day one, thought it was great, day 2, doesn't work... What's going on? right? The guys at Harvey Norman were difficult to deal with, they made me call the Vitamix head office and obtain approval for the return which was a headache in itself… Read more

then come back to the store once approval verified by HN. The overall experience wasn't good considering the dollars spent on a unit that failed straight away, but i'm glad I didn't end up going with Vitamix as I ended up buying a OmniBlend which i think is better and it's commercial grade for almost half price.

Worth the money – I drink a smoothie every morning of the work week. I had been using a ninja for about 4 years. It started the have some singificant wear and tear, so I thought I'd upgrade. The difference with the vitamix is incredible. It produces a professional quality smoothie. At roughly four times the cost of a ninja there should be a significant difference,… Read more

and the vitamix does not disappoint. If you have the money and will use it a lot, the vitamix is great!

Expensive but awesome – Ok, I'm the sceptic to the convert! Never would I have thought I'd buy one of these really expensive blenders but I've tried cheaper brands which claim to be for smoothies and they haven't lasted, are super noisy and I've been disappointed. I'll admit that I didn't want to pay this much for a blender but I really was serious about wanting to… Read more

increase my body intake of vitamins and nutrients found in fruits and vegetables via making smoothies and juices. I've tired the highly advertised smoothie makers that blend in a cup but found that they break, parts need replacing and they are incredibly noisy to the point that my ears made a ringing noise while using them. Time for a change.

After much thought, reading reviews, asking questions instore, I decided on this model. I love the automatic program. Using the smoothie program (about 50 seconds) the result is always super velvety smooth smoothies. It comes with a recipe book and Vitamix has a great online website with recipes and you can create your own account and save them to your own "recipe book". This recipe feature has meant I've tried many different types of smoothies, many different fruits and vegetables with perfect easy results. Amazing! I use kale a lot and it pulverises it into nothing, they are definitely no chunky bits! Can't get better than at! It is way smoother than my previous in the cup style smoothie blender.

I have used it to make pumpkin soup.......yes it even make it piping hot via the high speed blade creating friction, in under 5 minutes.

The sound level is definitely much quieter than my previous cup style smoothie blender, my ears don't make a ring sound. All reviews say blenders are noisy, I would suggest that while this is not as quiet "as a mouse", it certainly is acceptable.

Vitamix comes with a 7 year warranty, which is much longer than most other brands and certainly better than my smoothie style blender which cost 1/3 the price and lasted 2 years of 3/day a week use.

Oh, I've become a fan of the smoothie bowl!, it now my breakfast every day. Look for the recipe at Vitamix online. it yoghurt, green grapes, apple, orange, banana, chia, kale. Top it with slivered almond, coconut flakes and raspberries....amazing ! Its the perfect start to my day. __________________

An update. 7 years on and it has died. Very sadly Vitamix is very hard to contact, phone lines don't answer and they don't call back and it you use web forms don't reply in 3 days. The machine hasn't had a lot of use, every 2-3 days to make a smoothie bowl for ~5 years and I haven't used it a lot in the last 2 while moving houses. It has worked since the move, ie wasn't damaged during the move but now when I switch it on it doesn't turn on. I feel let down and I won't be buying another Vitamix and have already selected another brand.

Perfect ! – Very powerful blender! Have a very long year warranty! Just need 10 seconds you can create your own smoothie taste as good as Boost! The recipe is very simple, just milk, ice cube, banana and the chocolate ice cream. No extra sugar needed. The only problem is that it is very noisy. But it is still a powerful blender anyway!  Show details

Can't live without my Vitamix! – I use my Vitamix everyday for my morning smoothie - it's super easy! I chuck my fruit and veggies in, turn it to the smoothie program and leave it to blend a smooth and delicious breakfast. I've been using it for dressings, ice cream and even chopping (super easy to make cauliflower rice). The timer is an added bonus as I can see how long I've… Read more

been blending for so I get consistent results. I also really like the clear lid so I can see how everything is blending.
