not happy Jan, what a shame it is an expensive flop with poor warranty and back up service. this is my 4th vw , no more :(
Purchased in June 2014 for A$33,000.00.
Don't do it, don't buy VW
I've owned VW for a good many years and have some wonderful road trips in North America and Europe but that all ended. I bought a new VW golf in 2013 and it will be the last time I own a VW, the car was a lemon. Dealing with VW Australia was a nightmare as was the dealership and service centre.

This car is simply perfect
Great car all round. Handling, performance, styling (inside and out) and liveability are all the facets that make this car a great daily driver, and a little 'fun' when you want to. Driving in Race mode, and sports shift is where its at, but will hit your fuel economy. IF you drop back to Comfort mode or Eco, you can get economy down to 6-7L per 100km on the open road. The only downside is that i cant hook up a towball due to the AWD and exhaust system at the back end, but i have a second car that tows anyway. Will def buy again!
Well let's start with a positive.
It's a very nice car to drive, steers and handles well.
Otherwise we've had nothing but issues since we bought it in 2014.
We had the engine ticking noise which vw refused to admit until I insisted they fix it.
Now, just out of warranty, with only 10,000k we have the DSG/clutch shudder issue, which according to VW Five Dock is not something they will admit exists! Apparently it will cost around $3000 to fix though.
Seriously, don't buy a golf or any VW car with DSG.
And no comments from those who blame the driver please.
Our VW golf is 4 years old and although we have had it service yearly at a VW dealership, we have always had another issue every year. Most problems have been rectified by 'computer upgrades' which I don't understand why it needs to be done again after a regular service.
We have had a issue with the gearbox and although initially told it was out of the 3 year warranty, in the end they replaced it for free. This would've caused us a few grand out of pocket. They replaced it because they acknowledge there are many issues with the gearbox in the cars that weren't even on the recall list.
Our mechanic told us to sell the car now that it has a new gearbox and is problem free for now.

Trying to decide to buy a wagon or hatch VW Golf series 7
The Golf wagon has space to accommodate a full size spare wheel .
The space saver supplied is common on most cars, but where do you put the wheel taken off the car. The VW Golf wagon being 300 mm longer than hatch Golf has allocated plenty of room for a full size wheel.
I luckly picked up a good spare wheel from a wreck.
Having had two tyres written off I was very happy to have the full size alloy wheel.
I have talked to many people with space saver wheels and several people described having to curtail their holiday and watching their new car wiith holiday lugage being placed on a tow truck.
