I asked Chat-GPT No, the Vostok Portable Air Conditioner VOPORAIR18HA does not require you to add water for the heater function. It's a reverse cycle unit, meaning it can both heat and cool. The heating function utilizes a compressor and fan, not a water reservoir like some evaporative coolers. While portable ACs do collect water in a tank during cooling due to dehumidification, this water is not used for the heating process. Here's why: Reverse Cycle Technology: The Vostok VOPORAIR18HA is a reverse cycle air conditioner, meaning it can both heat and cool. No Water Needed for Heating: The heating process in this type of unit involves a compressor and fan, not a water reservoir or evaporative cooling mechanism. Water Collection During Cooling: Portable ACs collect moisture from the air during cooling mode, and this water is stored in a separate tank. This water is not used for heating. Importance of Proper Ventilation: When using the heater function, it's still important to have proper ventilation, just like with any heating appliance.

For heating purpose: does it still require exhaust outlet just like we do in summer??

Yes

Yep. The heater works in reverse. Takes the cold air out of the room and expels it outside. You need to put the exhaust out the window for that.

Does this machine have a self evaporative self cooling system also known as a self automatic draining system? I do know that there are machines that you never have to empty the water tank even on very hot, humid days and even on heatwaves. Is this machine one of them?Meaning,,can this machine handle these sorts of weather conditions? Also,do you think that this machine will be able to handle a little bit over 25 square metres? And finally, can you please tell me what the temperature range is for this machine?Greg.

Based on my experience it is very capable of cooling/heating our 6x6m back room and will only generate water in Winter when used in heating mode. That said I do not add water to the system in Summer as the instructions suggest. I believe it is for extra cooling which it simply does not need, it is already plenty powerful.

I set our unit up on a raised platform, connected the supplied drain hose to the outlet on the back and ran it into a 5l container which I had to empty once every day. An evaporative auto drain system would be nice but I doubt it is possible on such a high output unit given the quantity of water generated.

Thanks for letting me know and thankyou for your honesty. I really appreciate that there’s some honest buisinesses still out there and has given me a little faith back in trusting businesses and services. I hope that there will be more businesses and services that will be honest and do the right things in these situations. I hope you have a good day today and thankyou for answering my questions and thankyou for letting me have my say.Bye for now regards Greg.

By the way, adding extra water to the unit when on cooling mode does not increase cooling rate but adds efficiency, using less power and also protects the compressor from wear and tear. I asked an AC technician what this feature was for and that's the answer he gave me.

Does anyone know what the code "E4" on the display panel refers to? My brand new unit is cycling off and displaying this code.

Frost protection function: If the coil temperature is too low, the appliance is switched off. If the temperature rises above 8 °C, the protection is released and the previous operating state is restored.

@Kasparov I wouldn't be asking here if the manual had that info mate.
