Vulcan Freeloader 135L (648135) Questions & Answers
System cant be more than two years old, it continuously drips cold water from outlet on the bottom right the unit. Is this normal?
how do you turn the water pressure up on freeloader
I replaced my old Vulcan 135L gas hot water system with a new Vulcan 135L unit recently. I note that it takes a longer time for the hot water to come through as compared to the old unit which gave the hot water in just a few seconds. The impact of this I am waiting a longer time for the hot water to come through and also more importantly, I am wasting water while I am awaiting the hot water to arrive. Why is this ? Otherwise the unit is working properly.
Same problem, it’s only luke warm, the unit is going, I press the relief valve on the side and hot water comes out of the unit and appears to fix the issue, Vulcan had no idea when I called them.
Has anyone replaced the anode on this unit. I need to know which one is the right one. I was told this would be the correct one but am unsure is it uses a blue ananode. Please help.

The Vulcan freeloader is good to go with a 1210mm long anode .
I have low water pressure in the shower only is there any filters that are on the unit that could be blocked to cause this. The rest of the taps are fine
Hi, can I/ should I flush out the tank and or replace the anode after 5 years? thanks
yes, if in doubt, at least pull the anode out and check it to see if it's degraded to the point where it needs changing. It's mounted in the top of the tank, on the front left side under the insulation (you need to cut some of the insulation away to access it)
How do I ensure that no hot water leaks when I turn off the cold water main to replace washers in a leaking hot water tap in the shower recess? The water heater is a Vulcan freeloader Gas 648135 NO. Reply to [email removed]

My Vulcan 135lt gas mains pressure HWS shuts off the flame before the water is really hot. I suspect it needs a new thermostat. Can I replace it myself?
The 'Servicing' of storage HWS Thermostats etc. should only be done by Licensed Plumbers. It is not for the Home Hobbyist or D.I.Y handyman. There are rubber diapragms which may need replacing.
Thank you for your input Geoff
Does the Vulcan 4star use a gas bottle or through the normal gas that the oven would use? we have just moved into a new home and really need a shower.never used gas hot water before and can't even smell gas!!hope you can help
Please check with a licensed plumber but I think for us, I don't see any gas bottle so I assume it is through the normal gas that the oven would use. You might also want to phone Vulcan, as they would probably be able to confirm.
Hi there. As 157b said, you should go to a licensed gas plumber, but our Vulcan cylinder ran on gas and we only had gas bottles (no plumbed gas to our suburb). Unfortunately, although the cook top used gas (and we loved it!), the actual oven was electric. All our hot water ran off the gas and was brilliant. Only once ran out in about 13 years and that was with lots of visitors. Stick with it if you can!
