Dometic CDF-11

Broken Down – Worked good for just over 2yrs then had to replace temperature thermistor then when the fridge was around 5yrs old it failed to cool again. I took it to an eleco/fridge mechanic who inspected it, said he has throw 6 - 8 of them away this yrs as they are expensive to repair approx $300 - $400 and are prone to failing. While it was working it was… Read more
great but a small $500 plus fridge should last a lot longer I have a 17yr old Evakool that's still working I was expecting the Waeco to last just as long but they're just not that good.
Worked well for about a year, but don't expect Dometic to honor their warranty – Worked well for about a year, then started having issues maintaining the correct temperature and stopped working after 1.5years. Dometic did not respond to me when I tried to use the warranty and the service department wouldn't help answer any questions. I got this refrigerator hoping for a quality product that would last. I also figured the… Read more
company would be reputable enough to stand by its product and honor their warranty. Considering the expense, it's a huge disappointment and I would never buy anything from this company again.
Was great till the warranty ran out!! – Bought my CF-11 in March 2018. It fits perfectly in the middle of the front seats in my Hyundai Imax. Worked great for what i wanted until August 2020 when it wouldn't get cold. I had it set on 2 degrees but it would get to 16 degrees and that was it. Dropped it to the service centre and he has just rung and said it is unfixable and Waeco told… Read more
him it is out of its two year warranty, bad luck. I realise that its out of warranty but when you spend $500 on a product I'd expect it to last longer than two years four months???? Especially when it's just sitting in a domestic use van. Hardly what you'd call hard going!! Very disappointing and I can tell you one thing, it is the last Waeco product I will be buying.
My CDF 11 has never worked from new – I bought new and only had it work intermittently on a long road trip. The next time I used it it didn’t cool at all. Fan works, digital display works. Tried with bypass switch off on on. Tried with different power sources including waeco inverter. Very disappointed with this product as was the only option for a centre console fridge. Show details
CDF-11 not good for a waeco – After owning a CF40 for many years of trouble free service, I bought the CDF11 for drinks or as a freezer when on extended camping trips. The first thing I noticed was the power consumption when used as a freezer was about 2.5 amps per hour, almost twice that of the CF40 when used as a freezer. The fully charged 100Ahr battery struggled to run the… Read more
CDF11 (freezer) CF40 (as fridge) for much more than a day. That put an end to using it as a freezer for more than a couple of days in a row. Now after three years it is dead. I believe the compressor motor has burnt out or the compressor has seized. The control panel will only light up when disconnected from the compressor motor. If it is worn out after being used as a freezer 6 or so times for 2 to 3 days at a time and as a fridge the rest of the time it is very disappointing.
Went well for 3 yrs then failed – I had this fridge behind the passenger seat in my ute and it fitted there beautifully. It is however a very small unit and although it says it is an 11ltr fridge, it is the tiny aperture you have to pass things through to get into the bottom of the fridge that is the real problem. If you have your lunch in a tupperware container for example… Read more
,chances are it may not fit through the hole under the lid which turned out to be a real pain. Apart from that in performed really well for about 3 years before the power supply failed and I was quoted almost as much to fix it as a new one was worth so it's in the bin and now I'm shopping for a new, larger unit that won't be a Waeco.
Small fridge, excellent for drinks – I have owned many Waeco fridge/freezers including the CF-25, CF-40, CDF-25 and CDF-35. All have given excellent service. In my Hyundai ILoad I use a CF-40 in the back and have the CDf-11 mounted between the (non-standard) bucket seats in the front. Although it is slower to cool than the others its small size makes it excellent for my purposes i.e.… Read more
to provide easily accessible cold drinks inside the cabin. Unlike the others it seems to work OK without a cover. The lid opens from the front and because it is hinged it doesn't fall off easily like the others. The digital temperature control works well.
The fridge is obviously small at 10.5 L but I have managed to store two X 2 L milk bottles with one upside down. However 6 cans of soft drink + a water bottle is not a problem. So overall it's a good option for drinks, cools OK and doesn't use a lot of power. Works well as an adjunct to a larger fridge. Probably overpriced but I am not aware of an equivalent compressor fridge at any price.
Good little fridge/freezer, as long as size doesn't matter – Only recently purchased to add to my Waeco collection. First impressions are that, compared to the CF25 model, it is not that much smaller in size, yet is less than half the internal capacity, and uses a Wanbao compressor (I think) instead of the superior German Danfoss BD35F. Internally, it has a "cute" layout. There is a little dairy… Read more
compartment, with the main section easily accessable, albiet with a small "awning" covered section. There is a circular recess to give extra stability and clearance to taller drink bottles. A circular led lamp illuminates the inside when 12 or 24 volts is supplied, however this remains illuminated all the time.(no lid switch)...It doesn't use much power, however a simple (magnetic reed) switch would have been a nice inclusion. The lid is fixed via hinges, and not meant to detach. The latching mechanism is simple and positive. The controls are via a 4 button keypad and led display. You are able turn on/off & to adjust temperature between +10 to -18 degrees, in one degree steps. Adjustable battery protection, (low med hi), and temp readout in centigrade or farenheit are also provided. The unit runs off 12/24 volts dc only, and requires an external (optional) adaptor for mains operation. Done for cost/weight/size reasons, but annoying anyway, having to remember the adaptor (same as CF18/CF25 and the CDF range)... When running, it's reasonably quiet, and straight forward in its operation. Tested by me (in winter), it's performance seems in balance with its low power consumption. As to performance in an enclosed car in summer, maybe someone else will review that...Weight and ergonomics are reasonable, but again I go back to the beginning of my rewiew. The CF25 isn't that much bigger externally, but has over twice the internal volume, as well as using a German Danfoss BD35F compressor. Costs a bit more, but worth it in the long run, in my opinion, especially for camping etc. Would have given 4 stars, if not for the CF25 being so similar in size/shape, and giving superior cooling performance. Cheapest Waeco compressor fridge. Uses way less power & has way more cooling grunt than TE. types. Small capacity versus external dimensions.
