Extremely Poor Quality Product & Appalling Customer Service – Never Buying Wahl Again I’m absolutely disgusted with my experience with Wahl Australia. I purchased a Wahl trimmer on 18 June 2024 for nearly $200, trusting their so-called “premium” brand reputation. Shockingly, it completely stopped working just 14 months later, barely two months… Read more
after the warranty expired.
At first, I thought it might be a charging issue, but it only runs (very weakly) when plugged directly into the cord. In other words, it’s useless.
When I contacted Wahl, their response was pathetic. Instead of standing behind their product, they hid behind the expired warranty and offered a paid repair service, starting at $22 + GST plus extra charges for parts and freight, or “free destruction” of my trimmer if I refused the quote. That’s their idea of customer care for a $200 product that fails just after warranty?
Ironically, I have local brand trimmers that cost only $20–$30 each and have lasted 4–5 years without any issue. Meanwhile, Wahl’s “premium” trimmer died in just over a year. That’s the true measure of their quality.
Wahl Australia clearly doesn’t respect customers or consumer law. They charge premium prices for disposable-quality products and hide behind fine print when things go wrong. Absolutely disgraceful experience — never again.
Unresponsive customer service – Customer service are, in my experience, unreliable at best and non responsive at worst.
Good product Misleading instructions – I bought a Wahl Ladies Smooth and Shave in January 2024. It arrived as expected. The instructions are pictorial only and on the net there are no English or other language instructions. There are 4 small pages of ‘instructions’ each with a pictorial heading. In total 27 boxes of pictures. Are you getting the picture? Well yes sort of; it’s… Read more
tedious. There are three boxes to illustrate charging the shaver. Empty (white lightglobe) / charging (red lightglobe) / and fully charged (green lightglobe). I left the shaver connected to power overnight plus a few hours. The light never went green. I thought the item might be faulty so I put in a call to Wahl and left my name. I got a call back 10 or 12 days later - it’s ok; it’s break time for all of us. On connecting with the polite staff today I was told that the light does not go green; the manufacturer has been advised of the error in the instructions. I did suggest that other people who buy that product would, perhaps like me, think they have a faulty product and that it would be helpful to advise when posting, not to expect a green light. (Perhaps cross out that picture box?) No real reply to that. So what you get is a decent product with not-quite-right instructions and in addition to that, you are unlikely ever to figure out page 3. Not satisfied with the instructions and I think it’s pretty lax not to let customers know of an error in them.
Terrible Customer Service & Ordinary Product – Purchased the Wahl Pet Grooming Home Combo kit through Shaver Shop. As per the pathetic instructions provided with the unit, apparently the first charge should have been 12 hours. The unit was on charge for 24 hours with the red light still on. I asked the Shaver Shop for advise to see if this was normal for the product and was given a brush-off.… Read more
I then tried to contact Wahl Australia and no phone number to call. I emailed their help email address and no response AT ALL. Pretty pathetic customer service when there is no phone number to call for assistance and no response from the 'Help' email address. To make matters worse, the main clippers are exceptionally LOUD which is a problem around a sensitive dog. The combs don't work on my dog and the blade provided on the unit trims too short! I tried to get another blade attachment through a different company and the unit doesn't allow for new attachments. This is NOT what was advertised. Absolute rubbish product and useless customer service.
