Nearly 19yo and still going strong – As of January 2025, the fridge is still going strong. Bought in May2006 it has never missed a beat. However we regularly bring it forward and clean the back of the fridge to promote good air flow, always clean the inside including the seals. The one downside the fridge door stopped closing by itself, took the door off thinking it was a warn door… Read more
cam but found the frame of the the door was shattered with the hinge sinking into the door. A definite weak spot in the manufacture. Also some the trim is cracked and a few bit broken off. But hey it’s nearly 19. In the age short life items, this one is an exception.
Good at cooling poor build quality – Model RS663V*7 the fridge works well and performs as you would expect, BUT because we cant replace a small plastic hinge on the bottom of the door it has come time to throw it out. I'm all for repairing things for as long as I can keep them going. Show details
Westinghouse Virtuoso is 21 years old January 2024, cost $2000 in January 2023 – 21 years old this January 2024 and not sure if I should replace the ripped seals, haha. So quiet. Had it fixed after 7 years, $130 cost, and it has been fine since. Only damage caused to body was if something fell to the bottom or onto fruit bins. Longest living fridge we ever had‼️ Show details

Great side by side fridge freezer – Great fridge Freezer bought it in January 2007 now it is October 2022, nearly 16 years later and it is still running great. The only problem we had was 9 years ago when it needed a new thermostat. And the door handle from fridge came of, but husband fixt it and it is still going strong. No problems with broken shelves or bottles falling out of the door like I have been reading in some of the reviews. Show details
Fridge stop cooling cause the bottom part of freezer freezer – Fridge stop cooling cause the bottom part of freezer freez. So I have to difroze it all the time to get back to normal temperature. I change fuse and thermastate is well Show details
Reliable upright fridge/freezer – I purchased this fridge/freezer when I moved to my new home in 2007. It hasn't missed a beat in all that time. It has had no problem in either fridge or freezer section, even through extreme heat wave conditions when temperatures inside my kitchen exceeded 35 deg C! The unit is, to all intents and purposes, silent. Cleaning is a breeze. I… Read more
removed the egg tray from day 1 as I keep eggs in their carton. I have done this for every fridge I have owned. The provided ice cube tray was replaced with a silicone unit which is much easier to use.
Recently I hit one upright door handle hard and cracked several of the plastic handle pedestals. I was able to obtain these spares easily enough online - 3 for under $40. There were numerous online retailers stocking parts as they are common across various Westinghouse and Electrolux models.
I hope to get many more years of service from it.
EDIT: We sold our home with the fridge/freezer included in 2025. I reckon the Westinghouse will keep going for another couple decades! I would have taken it with us. Unfortunately it was too big for our new kitchen.
Negative reviews
Made of plastics that shatter when they get cold! – Great fridge/freezer as long as you have lots of gaffer tape to hold the broken shelves together. Always be careful opening as bottles fall out and shelves too sometimes. Final straw was fridge handle breaking. Potentially a great product but, in the end, very shoddy. Good temperature control, and mechanically reliable though. Show details
Would consider very carefully – It can be quite noisy every thing brakes off . Leaves very bad marks on the doors very hard to keep clean cannot get rid of the rust The inside cracked , the door handles had to be replaced . Would consider very carefully when using their products sorry because it did cost a lot . Show details
Has lasted but hard to clean – The fridge has lasted many years plus moving house. It is spacious but I find removing shelving for cleaning difficult plus, with age, the plastic is brittle so a few breaks. Now very noisy so thinking of replacing as uncertain bout power usage. The freezer side is roomy and vegetable drawers adequate. Show details

Poor supply of essential spare parts – We purchased a Westinghouse refrigerator model RS663V*05 around 10 years ago. The lower hinge on the refrigerator door has broken (seems to be a common problem from reading other posts) and I need to buy a complete door frame as a replacement. This wouldn't normally be a problem but the Westinghouse Spare Parts folks tell me this part is no longer… Read more
available. I can't believe that a spare door isn't available fro a product only 10 years old. Does Westinghouse actually keep spare parts or do they only hold parts until the warranty period expires.
I like to support Australian manufacturers but having to throw out a $2,000 refrigerator after only 10 years isn't good value in anyone's language. Next time I'm going for decent European made products.
Everything breaks off! – Apart from the noise from day 1 and the ongoing replacement of major parts to keep it running, now the handles have broken off! Paid $1800 many years ago and now it owns another $981 not including the replacement handles. Never EVER buy another Westinghouse even after having one previous to this that lasted 20 years.
I had this fridge/freezer for well over 10 years and I had only one incident on a very hot day that – It did at times have items which were colder than others at the back of the fridge but that was not constant. It is not loud and very easy to clean. I had this fridge for well over 10 years (bought it on 1 April 2006) and I was still very satisfied with it. The only reason I am selling it now is I prefer the freezer to have drawers as I am… Read more
constantly looking for things at the back of my freezer which has become inconvenient. And have bought a 4 french door fridge Freezer by Sharp with the freezer with drawers.
Out of Stock Component - Lengthy Wait – Our Westinghouse RS662V has worked without problems for 7 years but about a month ago the 'Board Control Defrost' printed board packed it in (diagnosed by Westinghouse registered mechanic). When we went to order another board we were told it will be another 3 1/2 months before a new shipment of these parts arrives in Australia from China or Korea.… Read more
There are another 144 of these components currently on order Australia wide. A lengthy ring around Australian refrigerator parts suppliers tells us that this part is unavailable Australia wide.
Is this level of service what you would expect in 2016? Really disgraceful support as far as I'm concerned.
Basically the fridge is a good one and capable of providing future use but this $115 component is preventing it's use. Do I spend a further $2000 (approx) to get another fridge? It sure won't be any brand associated with Electrolux!

amazing – Hi all. I just realised that I have owned this fridge for over 12 years with virtually no problems. I have had a tiny piece break off the plastic on the freezer drawer but hey the 4 litres of ice cream that landed on it was heavy. As the title says I am absolutely amazed that is still going strong.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! – I purchased a westinghouse fridge/freezer about 6 years ago was over $2000.00 Model RS663V*7 the whole fridge now needs to be thrown out because we cant replace a small plastic hinge on the bottom of the door. The doors have never been level but we have lived with it. Now the one that has been on the lower side has broken down, the stainless… Read more
steel has actually split and we have a throw away fridge. Bloody disgusted! Will never buy westinghouse again. How can you not have replacement parts for a product that isn't that old.
Disappointing – My RS663V has just died as well. I too expected more from a fridge which cost me $2,400. The temperature was always a bit dodgy...even when I lowered the temperature it made no difference. It actually tripped the safety switch, so its an electrical problem obviously. Over the years, the handles have broken twice and I've had to replace them. … Read more
I found the handles to be weak and poor quality. They just don't make them like they used to. I have a freezer that's over 40 years old which belonged to my mother, and I've done absolutely nothing to it...but it just keeps going and going.
Hasn't missed a beat for 16 years – I came across this page when looking for a replacement part - the light bulb in the freezer is the first thing we've needed to replace since new. Seeing the poor reviews, I thought I should add a short one saying that this fridge hasn't missed a beat in the 16 years we've had it. Works perfectly, seals are like new, still virtually inaudible.… Read more
The only fault I can find with it is it uses a fair bit power - but that's expected for something this size & age.
Broken door handle – Door handle on the fridge section of the refrigerator has snapped. We have contacted local repair appliance centre but they advise that they are unable to get a replacement handle and we will just have to purchase a new fridge. How poor is this when there is nothing wrong with either the fridge or the freezer! Even if we had to replace the door would be better than replacing the whole unit.
Now 11 years old and still going strong – I am writing this review now as I am researching a new fridge and have been appalled at the poor reviews for all brands. So I looked up my current fridge as a comparison and it gets the same bad reviews. I am only replacing it because the new kitchen requires a shiny new stainless steel model, otherwise our RS662V will probably give many more… Read more
years of great service. Sure, there have been some cracked door shelves and the racks in the freezer seem to come off their supports occasionally but as far as freezing and cooling goes it has done a great job without fail. So I will take my chances with another Westinghouse despite the reviews and fingers crossed I will get another good one.
Freezing up – We purchased the fridge about 6 years ago has worked well up until 3 months ago now the freezer keep freezing up & the fridge temp gets up to 14 c ,had a service call cost $360 to so call fix it still happens if I wish to spend another $560 app they it will fix it but will it ,I would have expected to get a bit more out of $2100 fridge , freezer our last fridge lasted 42 years & was still going.

14 years and going stromg – I bought this fridge when we moved into the house 14 years ago, never had a single issue and its still running well to this day :)
Would rate it 0 stars if I could – Paid $1800 for a Westinghouse RS662V. Consistent with all of the other low ratings on this page, shelves fall out and break, compressor died in 3 years and the door fell off. The door hinges are cheap plastic mounted onto a steel pin - no surprise they wear through in a few years. Seals lasted 3 years. Bottle storage is poor as bottles fall out.… Read more
Fridge door handle lasted 4 years before breaking off. Was a total pain to get level and have the doors close correctly. The last Westinghouse anything I will ever own.

Practical, quiet and reliable – This fridge was purchased new in 2006 for $1,799 and has performed well ever since. No design issues or quality problems so far. This unit has just been practical, quiet and very reliable.
Poor durability – Performed well for the first 3 years but then progressively started to fall apart. Bottom low shelf on fridge snapped (not surprising given it was only supported by a plastic nib), front door handle mounts have snapped and it is now intermittently blowing a fuse. A bad performance given what we originally paid for it. Lame, lame, lame
Best fridge ever! – Purchased this fridge about 9 years ago and it has run like an absolute dream which goes to show how great Aussie Made is! Reviewers giving a bad rap here most likely got a bad one off the shelf or not looked after it properly but I'd say like any appliance, once you are past that initial "run in" period this fridge will last forever. Very quiet,… Read more
maintains constant chill despite what goes in there, strong design and Aussie made! Should have bought 2 while they were still available
Rubbish – The compressor died at 4 years. The shelves in the freezer are forever falling out. The dairy bin door broke off. The plastic bits that hold the door handles on broke. It has always been noisy, we just assumed side by side units were, but having seen friends fridge freezers we realise its just our fridge freezer. You only get one chance Westinghouse, never again will I buy your junk. The size fitted the gap in our kitchen
'Wastinghouse' not Westinghouse! – We purchased our fridge 2005... Compressor went Xmas eve (I was 8 months pregnant) in 2009... Then we paid for a 'switch' to be replaced... Probs with temp continually... Then today we lost all food in fridge and freezer overnight... Not happy jan!!!!! Shame as we loved the design... Nice face shame about the body!!!! Design Did not last the distance......
Really bad Fridge , not worth the money – Paid $2,000 for this fridge . Not the model that I ordered as they said this was latest model and somewhat better . Door handles broke off , shelves easily fall out and shatter , seals of poor quality and fridge door developed a stress crack in it . These were all replaced under warranty including a whole door . Problems quickly developed again… Read more
and I told them that the fridge was a lemon . They told me that all of the problems were my fault and would not repair it anymore as it had just run out of warranty .
The bottom hinges are plastic and are broken . The door has dropped and a large gap is now in the seal . The other side of the seal has a large split in it . The door has fallen off several times . I have about five of the door shelves now attached with duct tape .
Food is now going off and nothing keeps longer than 2 days in the crisper .
Would not recommend this fridge to anyone .
Save your money and don't have anything to do with this brand or its offshoot brands .
Bad service from company for warranty . Door falls off .

Westinghouse never again – The fridge has always had trouble getting the temperature correct in the fridge but can live with that. Door handle is coming off but really turned me off is the fridge is not ten years old and has already had one compressor replaced and now the new one has gone again. This time Westinghouse goes to the dump never too buy another, just went out… Read more
and bought an LG 10 year guarantee on the compressor. Buy Australian made you have got be joking with quality like this no wonder Aussie factories are closing down. Still looks good keeps breaking down
Never Had A Problem – Sorry to read about everyone's compressor and door handle issues. Bought this fridge 8 years ago from 2nds World as the 20+ yo Kelvinator pigeon pair died. First thing I noticed was how well it chilled and that food lasted for days before going off. Even now, fresh vegies are almost the same as when placed in there 1-2 weeks ago. Just… Read more
thought I'd register my happiness. No problems whatsoever, it goes like the clappers. Perfect sized freezer, many nowadays are too narrow, chills very well
Never had one problem! – I purchased my fridge 5 years ago and it has never given me one problem despite a house move and having a house full of teenagers. I'm surprised at how many have had problems but mine has been amazing. I would recommend this fridge to anyone. I am selling it now only because I have a smaller house and it no longer fits, which I actually was trying… Read more
to remove a wall to put it in! I love my fridge! Runs well, no problems keep things nice and cold as wanted Freezer light blew after 5 years. Haven't bothered to try and fix it so really can't complain at all!
Terrible product – I always like to buy Australian made where possible, big mistake this time. I could never get the doors to be both level so I just put up with it. I didn't even give the likes of LG Samsung etc a look as I wanted a local brand. After about 4 and a half years I found that the fridge door lower hinge had failed and that to get it repaired I needed… Read more
to replace the whole door at a cost of over $500. Probably like it from brand new as I could never get them level.
I contacted Westinghouse and they wouldn't do anything, said they hadn't had any similar instances of this happening so it wasn't a known fault. They said someone may have put excessive weight on the door, it is only my wife and myself so no way kids have swung on the door or abused it in any way.
A friend of mine has the same fridge but the smaller version and their handles broke, he's not happy either. After a couple of emails they did offer me a good price on a new fridge which I declined, said I would rather use an esky and a block of ice than spend my money on their inferior rubbish.
I have since purchased a dishwasher and wall oven both Bosch, leaves Electrolux products for dead as far as quality goes, would have liked to purchased Australian but not when you spend over $2000 and it doesn't last 5 years. Might be a good idea to stay away from anything made by Electrolux.
Faulty hinges, requiring a new door. Just overall inferior quality compared to other brands.
Absolute Rubbish – We purchased a Westinghouse Refrigerator RS662V approximately 8 years ago. We have had no end of issues with it and the quality of workmanship is a terrible embarrassment. Firstly the door handles broke on 2 different occasions and were repaired under warranty. They also broke outside of warranty. The shelves in the freezer keep falling… Read more
down as they don't fit correctly to the moulding of the freezer.
he compressor went just outside of the warranty period and now the whole refrigerator door has has fallen off. The bottom hinge is supported by plastic only and has cracked and broken off entirely which has resulted in the whole door falling off and crashing to the ground.
Now if I had known that the shelving and door handles were so poorly made and more importantly, if I knew the doors of these fridges were supported by plastic only, I would definitely not have bought it.
I am totally disgusted with the quality of this fridge.
Our neighbour 2 doors down bought the exact same model as ours as they liked the size (as we do), but they have had no end of trouble as well. They actually had their whole fridge replaced under warranty!!
You pay good money for this refrigerators and to only get <10 years out of it is a real disappointment.
Needless to say, Westinghouse is a dirty word in our area and will not be bought again by us and certainly will not be recommended. Size Compressor died just out of warranty, shelves in freezer are terrible and keep falling down, door handles are absolute rubbish and have broken on 3 different occaisons, whole door fell off!!!! Is Westinghouse (Electrolux) having a lend of us ?????
Poor choice it would seem – Was OKk for the first year or so. However plastic storage bins on door kept falling out/ off. Bottles didn't stay in very well. 8 years on and door just fell of hinges tonight and we have a constant problem with condensation. Freezers shelves continually fall down as plastic rungs seem to short for the things they clip into. One glass shelf in fridge. Plastic door holders. Door fell off hinges. Freezer shelves incredibly annoying. Energy monster.
Nice at the start. Pity it doesn't last – We've had this fridge for around 7 years now. What started out as a very nice fridge, all gleaming and new didn't last very long. Not far out of warranty, timer switch went (losing food contents as well.) Fixed that, then another issue (forget now the detail). Then the evaporator fan went. Now it's noisy as all get out. Unfortunately for us, we… Read more
decided to support Austrlian made, and purchased Westinghouse for the whole kitchen - Fridge, Oven, Hotplates, Rangehood and dishwasher. We're now working through getting rid of it all, as their gear just doesn't stand up - and we bought the high end of their gear too.
Wouldn't touch Westinghouse again - or any other brand from the same factory/group.
Now have F&P Dishdrawer. New ovens/hotplate/range to be installed and shopping around for fridge replacement.
If you don't mind replacing or fixing stuff often, it's nice. Otherwise, go another brand. Size, reasonable price for large fridge, fridge shelves contain spills, lots of space. Seals still in good condition. Reliability is rubbish, front kick panels always breaks, poor temperature regulation, expensive to run.
