Broken Refrigeration Door Handle – We have had this Refrigerator/Freezer for around three (3) years now and are generally happy with its performance and internal layout. However, beware of the door handles which mounted on three hard plastic blocks which crack or break rendering the handle useless until replaced. Problem is that the manufacturer (Electrolux/Westinghouse) does not… Read more
supply the mounting block separately and they force you to purchase a complete handle assembly at a cost of circa $231.00 (as quoted by local agent). The mount block, if sold separately, would be valued at around $5.00 to $10.00. This is now the second time in 2 years that the mount block has cracked - fortunately the first was replaced at no charge under warranty but now we a forced to purchase another as the door is useless without a functioning handle. The door handle arrangement is clearly of defective design and not fit for purpose and as such should be: (a) redesigned by the manufacturer using something other than hard brittle plastic; (b) replaced at no cost by the manufacturer due to (a) and (c) make the mount block available for purchase as a separate serviceable item. On both occasions the breakage was occurred by my Wife who is certainly not heavy handed and was merely going about the normal process of opening the fridge door. For the reasons detailed above, we would not recommend this product to others that may be considering the purchase of a new fridge/freezer..
DANGEROUS GAS LEAK unable to be repaired – So disappointed and dissatisfied with this purchase. Freezer stopped working and repairman said it had a gas leak that couldn’t be repaired so I was just supposed to buy a new fridge after only 5 years!!! Electrolux customer service proceed to tell me that somehow a manufacturer fault and design flaw is somehow my responsibility instead of replace… Read more
this item. Who in the world expects a top range fridge to be replaced every five years?? Not to mention dangerous refrigeration GAS leaking in my home. Such poor form from a supposedly reputable company from who I also purchased an AEG dishwasher and Electrolux microwave. Do Not recommend ANYONE buy Westinghouse fridge that is dangerous and should be investigated for a product recall. Where the company would then rightfully have to take 100% responsibility.
Parts keep breaking and are expensive to replace – I have been happy with the fridge however the parts are obviously cheap plastic. Only a year ago one of the door shelves broke off & I was told that I would need to replace the entire door (no thanks), we glued it back on...now a small plastic part in the centre of the handle has crumbled to bits & it looks like you need to replace the entire… Read more
handle ( I don't think so). Great fridge however unfortunately not made like they use to make them. In all honesty I wouldn't buy another Westinghouse due to the cheap manufactured parts or should I say poor design that the parts can't withstand the wear and tear.

Fridge Amazing the internal plastics are terrible – I love my fridge it’s large and never skips a beat before this one I had the WAE 620 for 9 years. The fridge is amazing the place components of this fridge are terrible the Handle snapped off the cost to replace the little plastic Pedestals is $225 [WTH!!!] and then if we need the Handel as well that’s another $400 again [WTH!!] and one Of the… Read more
draw broke the front detached from the back again replacement cost is huge. I could buy a whole new fridge just replacing the broken plastic in this less then 5year old fridge.
I am look at getting an LG No my mother and law and me always buy westing house but the terrible quality of the plastic and the ridiculous price they want to fix just made us both decide it’s best to start looking at LG.

Great Size with a Family of Five, But – I like the size and I still get amazed about what you can fit into it. The temps have been perfect, the drinks chill function for drinks is a excellent, especially when you want a cold drink but have forgotten to put any in the fridge and the quick freeze function is wonderful for when you have just done a big shop. The bad bit for me is young… Read more
kids ( Boys ) which are a bit rough and have managed to break the outer Fridge Handle as well as the (tiny) inner Door plastic/foam tabs that hold the Drinks Shelves up. The drinks weight can add up fast and it doesn't take much for these particular door shelf tabs to break. This is why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because of the weak material in this crucial area of the Fridge. I would still recommend this fridge, you just need to be very careful about the two drinks shelves in the door of the fridge.
Fantastic Fridge – I was looking for a very long time for a fridge to suit the fridge space I have (larger than average). I did not want one that required plumbing and this was the best option. Although it does not have bells and whistles it is a very spacious fridge (freezer a bit smaller which is great). The only minor issues I have with it is the ice tray sits low and the bottom storage in the fridge door is not very accessible (hidden by the upper compartment) Show details
Best side by side with many safety glass shelves – We bought this fridge 2 months ago from Retravision Cannington to replace our 14 years old Westinghouse S.B.S 610L fridge which was warm in the fridge section. Retravision matched Good Guys 20% discount with extra 5% off for RAC members. We waited 20 hours before switching on the new fridge although it is stated at least 4 hours according to… Read more
Westinghouse user manual. This is to allow the oil to flow back in the compressor.
We are very pleased as there are many adjustable shelves and LED lights in both sections. I can store a full bunch of celery or spring onions horizontally. I bought a 14 bays egg storage box with lid from Howard Storage World to store eggs. It is super quiet even in the night time. I can keep my 2.2kg sourdough in a big glass bowl overnight in the fridge. The old fridge is next to the new fridge as we use it to store stainless steel cookwares and other items.

CL code Drama Stay Clear of Westinghouse – Purchased from appliancesonline. whom were not interested in the CL code and food defrosting that has been an ongoing issue with this fridge. The fridge never got cold properly from delivery date, and now the freezer side is also useless, Icecream soft even when set at coldest setting. Runs non stop and does not refrogerate properly. crap quality Westinghouse appliance. Will have to buy a new fridge as warranty is worthless, ignored by appliancesonline when contacted.
Above was forwarded to Westinghouse/Electrolux whom just ignored it. Appliancesonline refused to help when requested.
Ice maker dispensing issues and items freeze in the fridge – We have had the ice dispenser chute block up, as the non return flap does not open. This happened periodically for years but now it happens daily now. some items in the fridge have frozen, depending where they are placed. We purchased the fridge for its size. Not happy with purchase. Show details
Wse6970 – Black sticky goo seeping from fridge after only 2 years. Was free standing with plenty of air flow. Now freezes things and doesn't seal properly. I have had to remove the black goo as it has been progressively worse and now is pulling the seal out of its housing After reading other reviews I find it seems to be a common fault. has this been covered by others out of warranty Show details

No longer freezing properly. Replaced after 5 years – This was a replacement provided by Electrolux for the previous model that had black goo oozing out of the seals. We have had this for just over 5 years and then the CL error code came up and we checked the freezer and food was soft, not frozen. Electrolux customer service didn’t seem to know what this code meant and told me to get a tech out at… Read more
$150 plus unknown costs. As its difficult to do without your fridge, we opted to simply buy a new one. We decided to try a Samsung. I tried to see if a dealer wanted to buy the Westinghouse from me as it is in very good condition, but when I told them what model and what was wrong they didn’t really want it! It seems this model has issues with the door sensors. The CL code means the freezer is above -14 because it senses the door is not closed. So this fridge tech told me he tried everything and then finally replaced the doors of the last one he bought and bingo! It works great again. So guess what? I will never ever be buying any Westinghouse/Electoral product again.
Black Tar like ooze seeping from doors – We were actually happy with the fridges, everything seemed to work good, then the tar monster came to visit! Black tar like oozing from the centre pillar between the doors. We just cleaned it thinking it would be ok, but it keeps returning, and now it has torn the door seals Pretty disappointed, fridges are an investment of a lot of money and I feel it was a bad investment :( Show details
Piece of expensive junk – Many isues with this fridge: Yes, water pipe in freezer door failed, water pipe to back filter failed (massive kitchen flood), fridge door fell of hinges. Replaced doors ($$$) fixed rear piping, today the display board failed (luckily freezer and fridge still working)......Due to these persistant failures I would never buy a… Read more

Freezer seal doesn't seal properly! – I bought this Westinghouse WSE6900SA 690L Side by Side Fridge from Appliances online about six months ago. After having it for a month, the freezer door wouldn't close securely, which meant unless I bashed it closed, I might wake in the morning to a very frosty freezer, something like Christmas in Greenland. After having some doofus men come to… Read more
'fix it' by making it even on the floor – and that not working because that's obviously not the problem, the problem is the seal – I insisted it be replaced. Appliances Online were terrific, and finally Westinghouse begrudgingly replaced it. And guess what? The new one has THE SAME PROBLEM! The SEAL on the freezer door just doesn't make a good connection with the fridge/freezer unit, and I get frosty mornings and melted frozen food! The fridge part is good, and both the fridge and freezer temps work well. If only that door didn't need to be shoved very hard to make sure it closed well. The fridge door seals beautifully, so it's not as though they don't have the ability to make a sealable door... Would I recommend this fridge freezer? Yes, but only if you're prepared to bang shut the freezer door.
water leak from bottom of freezer door and fridge door bottom hinge coming apart – Hose for the water dispenser split. I managed to fix it with different hose parts. The old hose is rock hard and just disintegrates when you touch it. I figure the hose costs under 50 cents on a $3000 fridge. Come on Westinghouse....You can put in a better quality hose that stays soft and doesn't turn brittle for only a few cents more.. The… Read more
second issue I have is the bottom hinge on the fridge door(not the freezer) is disintegrating. I will need to replace the door or just junk the fridge. Fridge is only 10 years old. The water hose broke after less than 5 years.
Black Grease Leaking, Rotting Seals & Door Sticks! – We bought this fridge late 2014, complained to retailer 2019 after realizing the black gump I had periodically cleaned for 12 mths was actually leaking grease & not the thought sticky drink spills. Harvey Norman passed the buck advising we contact the manufacturer, manufacturer advised us to call their preferred service technician to identify the… Read more
problem, of which Electrolux know about this problem, which cannot be fixed. I'm still waiting for a solution now 12 mths on! So Electrolux won't fix it nor will they replace it....I have to pay what they call "PRO RATA" to get a new fridge... not happy! I would not have bought this expensive fridge had I known it would only last 4 years, I expected this fridge to last at least 10 years or more. It is not of reasonable acceptable quality & not free from defects....I will take this further....my money wasn't faulty but their product sure is!
Black goo coming out of middle panel – Over the last 18months black goo like substances has been ozzing out of the middle panel. We clean the substance away and it is now causing the seals to break. Show details

Leaks disgusting black tar! – We have soldiered on with this awful fridge/freezer for a few years now, but it's time to kick it to the kerb. It leaks black tar - apparently an insulation product that melts, wells inside the bottom of if the cabinet, and then leaks through the seam. It then sticks to the door seals, which damages them, makes a filthy mess, and is a bugger to… Read more
clean off. We complained to Westinghouse in the early days. They sent out a technician who sealed the seam with silicone. They would not replace the fridge because, apparently, it was just fine once sealed. The mere fact that black tar melts and wells inside the cabinet was not concern. The technician advised that, should the problem recur, we should just seal up the seam again and away we go. Well, it did recur. In fact, it has never stopped. I sealed the seam myself with marine-grade silicon several times. It's fine for a couple of weeks, but eventually the black tar seeps through. The door seal is so damaged now that I had to repair the bottom corner with duct tape to stop the magnetic strip from dropping out. What a pain in the neck this fridge has been, compounded by a disappointing, unaccountable, indifferent response from Westinghouse.
Time will tell if this is any better than the previous 3!!! – Our 3rd replacement Westinghouse Fridge/Freezer (WSE7000SF) died last week (Mon 7/10) in the middle of the night and ironically on my Birthday! Lol! More inconvenience and food lost. I contacted Electrolux/Westinghouse service Tuesday morning and they couldn't get anyone out until Wednesday. Wednesday came and the repairman (Jamie) called 20… Read more
mins before arriving to confirm his time. He was extremely polite, professional and honest. Unlike our previous experience with a very rude repair person, Jamie was excellent and obviously cares about customers and takes pride in his work.
Unfortunately though our 3rd fridge (WSE 7000SF) was given the thumbs down and it was time to look at number 4. Today (14/10), 1 week later, No.4 (a Westinghouse WSE6900SA) arrived. Electrolux/Westinghouse to their credit did not charge us for this change over and did not want to argue the case like previous experiences. Wow! Has the tide turned? We considered leaving this fridge/freezer in the box, selling it and purchasing any other brand but Electrolux/Westinghouse but Jamie has helped restore a little faith in the brand again so we will see how it goes. Stay tuned!
Fridge layout looks good. Like the fold away bottle shelf. Easy digital controls change settings. Cools quite quickly. Easy to adjust the angle of the fridge to ensure it doesn't rock on the tiles. Removable trays in the fridge and freezer can be easily moved around, providing a flexible layout. It is quiet and is working! Time will tell how long it lasts? Sliding shelves in the bottom of the fridge appear to be quite tricky to move.
Tip from the delivery person: make sure you take all the packaging tape out of the unit before it cools otherwise this becomes extremely difficult to remove.
Rust on door and icemaker – From these reviews sounds like our rust took a few more years and was lucky. Our door has rusted around dispenser and rust is everywhere in ice maker I am so upset my grand children use it constantly so unhealthy. Went to look at new Westinghouse fridge freezer ice maker no where near quality of what I would expect from high end market drawers of freezer cheap and flimsy not in running in comparison to say Samsung was quite impressed with theirs. Break in the trims around the spill safe shelves – Fridge is working good, occasionally we use to get loud (bit more for the fridge) noise from the fridge. Its good size. The fridge and freezer plastic trims got cracked around glass. There are 6 breaks trim around the spill safe shelves (pictures attached). Freezer: - 1 break on the shelf with Ice cube tray attachment - 4 breaks on the shelves which hold the freezer baskets Refrigerator: - 1 break on the shelf for bottom FlexFresh crisper Show details
Loved this fridge until black tar started oozing from the seals – We loved this fridge freezer and water dispenser and have had it for about 6 years, a year ago we started to notice black tar on the seal at the bottom of the freezer, I assumed a can of pepsi had exploded inside the freezer or something, but there was no pepsi, and I cleaned it up and a year later we are STILL having this problem. The black tar… Read more
not only is sticky and impossible to clean and its stickiness has caused the seal to come away from the freezer door, but it seems to be eating away at the seal itself also as the seal and the tar are like... bonded together and deteriorating? It's as if the tar is made of the seal and I am scared that it might be toxic :( We paid nearly $3000 for this appliance and I am very disappointed that it is having these issues. I don't know how to fix it as the tar keeps coming back and I dont even know what it is and its near impossible to clean off!

Waste of money and poor service – Purchased this after reading good reviews. Within 2 months the freezer stopped working. To access any service or assistance requires a phone call where each time it takes 25 - 35 minutes of on-hold music before you actually speak to anyone. And don't let them put you on hold - you'll invariably be cut off! A service person came and repaired it… Read more
3 times over the course of 3-4 weeks - each time assuring me "now it will be fine". Just kept getting error messages and no freezing. Finally Electrolux took it away and provided me with a much smaller, totally inadequate loan fridge. 16 days later and I have no idea when I'm getting a replacement, and get brushed off by call centre or promised call-backs that don't come. When it WAS working it was quiet, but got very loud once the freezer played up. Lack of deli compartment is a drawback; and the doors aren't self closing which is a real pain. I want to give this zero stars just for the stress and inconvenience it has caused by being without a freezer over the summer holidays and with 4 small children at home. Poor poor service Electrolux. Would not recommend.

spoilt food goes. very disappointed with our purchase.
Technician came and confirmed fridge has sealed system failure and we can either chose a new fridge as ourc purchase was only 10 days ago or fix current fridge. Also told entitled to spoilt food reimbursement.
We chose a new fridge. Told would be sent an email that afternoon with new fridge drop off details and claim form for lost food.
2 days later still no email or call from Westinghouse. Been calling and call centre say they cant do anything until a supervisor authorises it but WA supervisor is not responding. Also say we purchased a seconds fridge which we did not.
Finally Sydney supervisor authorises it and we hopefully will get a new fridge delivered tomorrow. 1 week after contacting Westinghouse.
Still waiting on email which i have requested now 4 times for spoilt food reimbursement.

Looks great, very practical – The Westinghouse WSE6970 Fridge looks great with the stainless steel finish and works very well. It has heaps of room with plenty of drawers, shelves and shelving.
