Nearly 19yo and still going strong – As of January 2025, the fridge is still going strong. Bought in May2006 it has never missed a beat. However we regularly bring it forward and clean the back of the fridge to promote good air flow, always clean the inside including the seals. The one downside the fridge door stopped closing by itself, took the door off thinking it was a warn door… Read more
cam but found the frame of the the door was shattered with the hinge sinking into the door. A definite weak spot in the manufacture. Also some the trim is cracked and a few bit broken off. But hey it’s nearly 19. In the age short life items, this one is an exception.
Reliable upright fridge/freezer – I purchased this fridge/freezer when I moved to my new home in 2007. It hasn't missed a beat in all that time. It has had no problem in either fridge or freezer section, even through extreme heat wave conditions when temperatures inside my kitchen exceeded 35 deg C! The unit is, to all intents and purposes, silent. Cleaning is a breeze. I… Read more
removed the egg tray from day 1 as I keep eggs in their carton. I have done this for every fridge I have owned. The provided ice cube tray was replaced with a silicone unit which is much easier to use.
Recently I hit one upright door handle hard and cracked several of the plastic handle pedestals. I was able to obtain these spares easily enough online - 3 for under $40. There were numerous online retailers stocking parts as they are common across various Westinghouse and Electrolux models.
I hope to get many more years of service from it.
EDIT: We sold our home with the fridge/freezer included in 2025. I reckon the Westinghouse will keep going for another couple decades! I would have taken it with us. Unfortunately it was too big for our new kitchen.
Poor supply of essential spare parts – We purchased a Westinghouse refrigerator model RS663V*05 around 10 years ago. The lower hinge on the refrigerator door has broken (seems to be a common problem from reading other posts) and I need to buy a complete door frame as a replacement. This wouldn't normally be a problem but the Westinghouse Spare Parts folks tell me this part is no longer… Read more
available. I can't believe that a spare door isn't available fro a product only 10 years old. Does Westinghouse actually keep spare parts or do they only hold parts until the warranty period expires.
I like to support Australian manufacturers but having to throw out a $2,000 refrigerator after only 10 years isn't good value in anyone's language. Next time I'm going for decent European made products.
I had this fridge/freezer for well over 10 years and I had only one incident on a very hot day that – It did at times have items which were colder than others at the back of the fridge but that was not constant. It is not loud and very easy to clean. I had this fridge for well over 10 years (bought it on 1 April 2006) and I was still very satisfied with it. The only reason I am selling it now is I prefer the freezer to have drawers as I am… Read more
constantly looking for things at the back of my freezer which has become inconvenient. And have bought a 4 french door fridge Freezer by Sharp with the freezer with drawers.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! – I purchased a westinghouse fridge/freezer about 6 years ago was over $2000.00 Model RS663V*7 the whole fridge now needs to be thrown out because we cant replace a small plastic hinge on the bottom of the door. The doors have never been level but we have lived with it. Now the one that has been on the lower side has broken down, the stainless… Read more
steel has actually split and we have a throw away fridge. Bloody disgusted! Will never buy westinghouse again. How can you not have replacement parts for a product that isn't that old.
Disappointing – My RS663V has just died as well. I too expected more from a fridge which cost me $2,400. The temperature was always a bit dodgy...even when I lowered the temperature it made no difference. It actually tripped the safety switch, so its an electrical problem obviously. Over the years, the handles have broken twice and I've had to replace them. … Read more
I found the handles to be weak and poor quality. They just don't make them like they used to. I have a freezer that's over 40 years old which belonged to my mother, and I've done absolutely nothing to it...but it just keeps going and going.
Freezing up – We purchased the fridge about 6 years ago has worked well up until 3 months ago now the freezer keep freezing up & the fridge temp gets up to 14 c ,had a service call cost $360 to so call fix it still happens if I wish to spend another $560 app they it will fix it but will it ,I would have expected to get a bit more out of $2100 fridge , freezer our last fridge lasted 42 years & was still going.

Terrible product – I always like to buy Australian made where possible, big mistake this time. I could never get the doors to be both level so I just put up with it. I didn't even give the likes of LG Samsung etc a look as I wanted a local brand. After about 4 and a half years I found that the fridge door lower hinge had failed and that to get it repaired I needed… Read more
to replace the whole door at a cost of over $500. Probably like it from brand new as I could never get them level.
I contacted Westinghouse and they wouldn't do anything, said they hadn't had any similar instances of this happening so it wasn't a known fault. They said someone may have put excessive weight on the door, it is only my wife and myself so no way kids have swung on the door or abused it in any way.
A friend of mine has the same fridge but the smaller version and their handles broke, he's not happy either. After a couple of emails they did offer me a good price on a new fridge which I declined, said I would rather use an esky and a block of ice than spend my money on their inferior rubbish.
I have since purchased a dishwasher and wall oven both Bosch, leaves Electrolux products for dead as far as quality goes, would have liked to purchased Australian but not when you spend over $2000 and it doesn't last 5 years. Might be a good idea to stay away from anything made by Electrolux.
Faulty hinges, requiring a new door. Just overall inferior quality compared to other brands.
Terrible – After paying @ $2500 I would avoid this like the plague unless they have changed the compressor. Told all Australian made but compressor said brazil??. The stainless steel finish stains with rust colour- difficult to reduce and comes back each time. Reasonable size, good quality glass shelving cheap quality plastic side shelves in freezer, cheap… Read more
quality door handle attachments, doors uneven-warranty adjusted shimming but still uneven; told floor must be not level; freezer door will not auto close even when fridge is rediculously tilted back @ 2 inches; compressor failed after 5.3 years.
