Westinghouse Stainless Steel WRC904SC / WRF900CS

My Westinghouse Rangehood WRF900CS suddenly stopped working but the lights are on. Can anyone advise what is the fault? . If the motor is burnt, can I replace it and where can I buy the compatible motor for this model. Thanks
Very Average – Like most reviewers I agree it is cheaply made, tinny, vibrates/resonates and is generally noisy. It looks a lot better than it performs. The motor filters ( which are not the ones you see under it ) contain Carbon which saturate and then drip through the steels mesh filters as some other reviewers found. If you pay $149 then it is probably ok value. Disappointing
Super Terrible only last not even 4 years – I built a house in 2014 with BLUE PRINT HOMES when this Westinghouse product was installed as part of their package. As a person who in charge a finance team I like to have my kitchen clean, tidy and not oily that's why I always make sure all kitchen appliances are cleaned from grease especially the range hood filter. Actually, after 4 years (not… Read more
even) the range hood has lost the entire suction and sometimes not even WORKING AT ALL.
The worst is I ust rang the customer service today which is part of ELECTROLUX (same company so be careful!!!) and their customer service officer, [name removed] only advised me to organise a $154 service just to check it??? What a rip off!!! BRAND NEW RANGE HOOD IS $300 and you asked me for $154 at least to get it looked at??? How stupid it is....I'd rather get a brand new one with that price.
So be careful guys....This range hood brand is not good!!! and their management has arranged to give you 2 years warranty as it is gonna break after right 2 years.
CHECK THE GLOBES ARE TIGHTLY SCREWED IN REGULARLY! – This rangehood was provided by our builder. It works ok for what we cook but the illumination has always been disappointing & the unit noisier than I'd hoped for. After almost 3 years one of the globes blew tripping the safety switch in the meter box. The force actually blew a hole in the metal edison screw fitting of the globe. The globes have… Read more
never needed to be replaced before now but we have been told that the vibration can loosen the connection of the globe over time, eventually causing it to arc and blow the housing unit. The builder provided 28w globes although I now see that 40w is the max and we'll be installing the higher wattage once repaired. Electrolux Customer Service were very quick to organise a technician to come out & I am happy very with their service. I'll check more regularly that the globes are fully screwed in from now on!
Fairly poor performer and yes, the lights – Was installed in my house by builder. Looks good but was fairly noisy on number 3, which you need to use regularly as the suction is pretty weak. Then there's the dodgy lights, blowing globes and tripping circuit breakers. The globe brightness was okay though. So yeah naah - not the best thing out there.... Show details
Another Westinghouse lemon! – We built our home in mid 2011 though a builder and thought that having a new westinghouse rangehood and oven would be absolutely great and reliable. Wow, were we wrong The rangehood has become so weak in the last few years , that it needs to be on the highest speed just simply to try and suck up tiny wisps of steam. It's been checked over by a… Read more
professional and is clean, leaving no excuses for it to not work. Westinghouse should be ashamed of selling garbage like this! It's a shame we are having such a major issue with this, being the 2nd westinghouse product needing attention in less than 12 months.
Pathetic airflow - illumination a joke – Just moved into a house a few years old with this model rangehood already installed. Seems there was no modelling done to produce decent airflow at any speed and the noise! Max 55dB is more like 70dB. Not a patch on the low end Miele we left behind. And it looks like a fish and chip shop canopy - but admittedly, that's just personal taste. Rated… Read more
airflow at 550cu.m/hr but barely lifts a tissue held near the fan - with the filters removed! And the lighting. Who designed that? Someone with light sensitive eyes? 2 x 40W tungsten filament globes mounted behind an almost opaque diffuser at the rear provide nice mood lighting for the kitchen - that's all. I'm glad I didn't pay to have this installed - wait a minute, I did, in the house price. Darn! Westinghouse, do some computer modelling on air flow or at least do some empirical testing with actual cooking odours.
Haven't changed my opinion since Jan 2015, a year on. Latest was a loud bang, blue flash and… Read more
Terrible – We have had this unit installed for about 6 weeks. It is ridiculously noisy, you can't hear anyone talk to you. It hardly extracts anything even though it is ducted outside and it be slightly effective it has to be on the highest setting. It has started to drip water from the motor onto the cooktop and customer service have just told me that's… Read more
OK and even if they did change the motor it would still do it, it's working so not their problem. Do not ever buy anything from Westinghouse/Electrolux. It looks like it does the job. It is so noisy, it hardly extracts anything unless it is on the highest and noisiest setting. It drips. Customer service from Electrolux is a joke.
This product should never have left the drawing board! – I had never had a rangehood before, so I thought this unit in my new house was going to extract the cooking fumes. Wrong! At first I blamed the builder, who had partly blocked the exit path. But even after I opened it wide, the airflow was still hopelessly inadequate for the purpose. The hood's corners are not sharp, so you can safely bump your… Read more
head on it. Also it provides a useful light over the cooker. Even at full speed, this rangehood is unable to capture all the vapours rising from the cooker, let alone clear the surrounding area. Also the noise is excessive.
Terrible – We have this unit pre-installed when we bought our new home. Just after few months the rangehood's light stopped working. After fours months of struggle with Customer Service they tried to fix the unit. To our surprise they also broke the exhaust fan this time in addition to the original problem. Throughtout this worst experience, the customer… Read more
service topped all level of arrogance and do not care attitude. I had to call them everytime to find out the status of what they going to do to fix the problem. They agreed to replace the unit but made me felt that by replacing the unit, they are doing favour to us, which I made me feel really angry.
At the time of writing this review, our issue has not been fixed as yet. Very frustrated and would never anything from Electrolux or westignhouse ever ever again could not find any... reliability, design and above all worst Customer Service
Terrible – Would never buy this product ever again. Cheaply made and tinny, noisy and did not work well. Would never buy Westinghouse ever again. Looks great in the kitchen very impressive. Lights kept blowing. In the end the light did not work!! It did not work very well leaving the kitchen (and the rest of the house) smelling of whatever I was cooking.… Read more
It sounded like a plane taking off in my kitchen. Could not hear if someone was talking to me in the kitchen.
