Very Noisy Rangehood – It is very noisy and it makes even worse if it is set to run in full speed. It was easy to install and covers more space, but filter is still old school model and need frequent cleaning. There is no Carbon filter to purify the air when set to circulate mode. Show details
Build quality doesnt compare to old products – I bought this rangehood to replace an identical unit (which was ancient, and still in good working order) when my oven finally dropped dead. I had hoped that in the intervening 20 years there would have been some progress with technology, but unfortunately the only difference between this product and the one it replaced seems to be a dramatic… Read more
reduction in build quality.
The fan sounds like a jet engine (even on the lowest setting), and is therefore rarely used.
On one of those recent rare occasions, the wiring behind the buttons started crackling & sparking - fortunately I was right beside it at the time and could pull the plug.
Electrolux customer service were not particularly helpful, but fortunately Appliances Online have so far been pretty good to deal with in arranging for the unit to be repaired/replaced, so I will hold judgement on the customer service & repair experience for the moment...
Very disappointing that the unit barely lasted a couple of years before failing, though.
Like a Boing jet landing – Purchase about 2 years ago from David Jones, push button for light failed within first six months. Pushed a toothpick in to use it now, price of switch $46.80 plus cover $7.65 almost half price of new one ($149) from retailer, we never use the extractor fan it's too noisy even on lower speed. Never take the word of a sweet old lady sales person again!!!
Hopeless – Thought this would be a good addition to our kitchen but alas/// Very noisy.Very poor extraction performance. Retains grease all over the inside of the unit, creating a high fire risk, tried changing it to a recirculating type with carbon filters and this was worse and i am sick of replacing bulbs Westinghouse and Electrolux have destroyed any goodwill they had in this house.
Disappointed with the product quality and the noise level – Bought this range hood as it was the only most powerful fixed range hood I could find. I wanted to have it professionally installed with external ducting so I arranged to have the electrician install it. On the day, opened the box, removed the filters and found that the plastic part on which left side fan was mounted was cracked. Had to go ahead… Read more
with the installation on the day because I had to pay the electrician regardless. The electrician secured the fan and installed the range hood. But I was in for a bigger surprise after I turned it on. On the lowest speed it sounded very loud. Now nobody in the home wants to use it. I have contacted Electrolux to have the broken plastic part replaced to see if it makes any difference with the noise. Exterior, Looks better than my old range hood Noise, build quality
Great little unit – I purchased the Westinghouse secondhand for $20, it was only 12 mths old and in great condition. I replaced an ageing Robinhood Alto 600 mm for this unit as the Westinghouse fitted straight into the gap the Alto left. The Alto was useless, poor suction and very noisy. The Westinghouse is very quiet on low and noisy (as you'd expect) on maximum.… Read more
The unit has a single fan and its mounted in a plastic surround that helps the suction performance. Easy to install, I did it on my own but needed an electric screwdriver to fix in the wood screws as I had to hold the unit with one hand and manage the install of the screws with the other. Helps if the electric screwdriver has a magnetic bit to hold the screw on whilst your driving it into the wood. Make no mistake this is not the bee knees of rangehoods but for a cheap and effective unit that costs under $150 (on sale) its a good buy. We are renovating the entire kitchen in a few years time so I didn't want to buy a super beaut unit at this stage. The Alto was too noisy and suction was almost non existant so it had to go ASAP.. lucky I found this Westinghouse for only $20!
As with all recirculating rangehoods you will NEED the carbon filter and they will need replacing every few months, which is an expensive exercise. However you can remove the carbon filter and buy generic carbon filter material on ebay for about $10 a sheet and fit yourself, much cheaper option. looks ok, quiet on low speed but still good suction power, cheap! No USB port for my iphone :)
works fine easy to install – I've never heard anything like this - the noise even on the lowest speed is ridiculous. Thought there must be somthing wrong with it - thinking of chucking it out and getting something else - the whole family complains every time we turn it on. Used it once since we installed it 3 days ago - will probably never turn it on again. Didn't get… Read more
carbon filters when clearly this is a recirculating unit - didn't get any ducting and no option to add the filters Looks great, easy install air flow enough to fly an airbus. Unbeleivable noise
The noise on low speed is not in the slightest noisy, its comparatively very quiet in fact. Your… Read more (+1 reply)
Works great, – Purchased ours 2 months ago and its been working fine. Does what you would expect, just very loud. This wasnt something that we thought about when buying this so next time we definetly will consider the noise. Its easy to clean and was easy to install. Overall its good value for money. Easy to clean filters and works great Loud, very noisy
Not good. Button mechanism failed after 2 years. Only works on lowest fan now (least used button).… Read more
Good – It took me and my wife 30 minutes to take the old one off the kitchen and put this new one in. It does the work pretty well, totally worth the money. Cheap - paid $229 at Bing Lee Efficient - the suction is pretty good compared to the Kleenmaid we had before so far so good
