Class action, Dont buy Westinghouse !! – Total failure on interior water leaks main control switch failed circuit board failures give you contact information and we’ll get back to you pathetic Westinghouse and Harvey Norman for selling this landfill Show details
Freezing problem – Hi I’ve had this fridge quite a few years now and nothing but problems. It went good to start with then starting making very loud rumbling. That has since passed ( for now) but now freezes in the fridge section. Also the water dispenser hose has deteriorated so no cold water or ice for me. Can’t afford a new one so continually throwing out frozen product. I would not recommend this company. What a shame Westinghouse we’re once the top brand. Show details

Good Fridge – Purchased the fridge/freezer and quite happy , but last 3 months the ice will not dispense through chute, have found the round stopper disk will not active ? Is this a common problem.I suspect the round stopper/disk in chute wont drop/open to allow the ice to fall through chute ?, eventually clogging whole chute area Show details
Outstanding customer service – Bought this Fridge 6 weeks ago, its a stylish sleek stainless steel, the size fitted perfectly to my space. Firstly I having trouble with the filter kit, I called customer service on 1300 363 640, told the lady what was wrong, she then immediately send out a replacement filter without cost. I must say I was hesitate to buy the fridge from Westinghouse because I’ve read so many bad reviews, now I am experience the 5 stars customer service I am glad that I made a right choice.
Again, thank you Westinghouse customer care department for being so caring and helpful.
Hot to touch – The panel between the fridge and freezer that the seals touch is almost to hot to touch Is this normal. I am concerned that it transfers heat to the compartments and in turn has to work harder to keep cool, therefore creating a cycle of non stop refrigeration. Hot all the time. Show 2 replies

Fix twice and now it's happening again! – Bought this fridge Oct 2014, during the normal warranty period of two years the fridge was fix twice by replacing motherboards due to the fridge literally stop working. It's stopped again and we just ran out of extended warranty by 3 months. We still have the old Westinghouse which is still working guess they just don't build them like they use too. Love to keep supporting Aussie brands but not sure If this is what it's going to be like Show details
Leaking gooey black tar; noisy to run; just over 5 years old – Was excited to purchase this fridge freezer. Had noticed black tar oozing in bottom right of freezer and Bottom left of fridge doors which makes the door stick. Have tried to clean up the tar but very sticky and difficult to remove. The seals are also hot to touch and our floor under the fridge is hot. Googled today and was disappointed to find… Read more
this appears to be a widespread issue for Westinghouse fridges and from what I can tell no solutions to resolve it. Super disappointing as paid a high price for what I expected to be a quality product. If anyone has any ideas how to resolve or had success in resolving please let me know.

We had the same issue but the rest has been all good – I was looking for a water filter for my fridge which is the WSE6070SB and came across these reviews and I must say I too feel like not buying Westinghouse after reading all this. I bought mine in 2008. I have had the same issue with the water pipe as well (after about 5 years) and got it fixed for about $200. If not fixed it starts dripping. Its… Read more
2020 now and the same fridge is still going strong, (fingers crossed) and the style is not out of date either. Tech is not bad for it's age, although not sure what 2020 fridges might have (like connect to my phone :P) So apart from that pipe problem, I need to change filters and haven't had any other major problems. In my opinion the fridge is pretty solid and well built, has lasted well for us and we are pretty happy with it. Next fridge I will consider Westinghouse based on my experience with the current fridge, but will look around for other as well.
Do not buy this fridge - black mold problems – This has to be the worst fridge on the market. Ever since we bought this, we have had to clean a black mold residue that builds up at the bottom of the fridge doors. It comes back after about one month. It is disgusting! I have contacted Westinghouse and received no response. Customer service is terrible. Do not recommend buying their fridges. Show details

Fridge seal torn off just after the warranty period – It is not easy to open and close Because the fridge seal torn off it is sticky and leaking cool air. It also leaves some sort of glue leaking from or around the seal gaskets. Sometimes the fridge part is very cold than set temperature. Sometimes I have seen the beer or drinks kept in fridge part has turned icy although the set temperature was 6 degree Celsius. Show details

Toxic looking black mess seeping from bottom door seal, design fault. No response from customer serv – Hi, do not buy this fridge (and please be careful buying any Westinghouse/Electrolux fridge) as there is a design fault. I have made several complaints and customer service have never replied. Never had such shockingly bad service from any company. Black toxic looking gunk seeps from the bottom seals. Greasy residue bottom of door seals – This is the second Westinghouse fridge with unusual fault. The first was replaced under warranty due to the inner fridge casing cracking and with that model being discontinued we received the above model which is working fine but continuously trying to keep the door seals clean from a sticky substance leaking from either the fridge or the seals.… Read more
This is starting to now damage the seals due to the effort to open the doors if left untreated and the centre panel at times can be very hot. Is there a product to clean this area without causing damage and will this problem cause the fridge or seals to fail in the near future?
I was surprised to be contacted by Electrolux to have a tech come and inspect my issue. From this it was removed and loan fridge supplied. Very happy not only with the contact about my concerns but with their service. Unfortunately the sealant is starting to weep through again after 6 months from repair.

Too many issues - Buy another brand – We've had this fridge for just over 4 years. About 6 months ago the fridge developed a problem with the ice dispenser flap jamming and not opening - trapping the ice inside and requiring us to clean it out. Yesterday, we tried the ice dispenser again only to have the whole fridge shut down with a burning-electrical smell - turns out the controller… Read more
panel above the dispenser has shorted-out, requiring a new part.
We've also had problems with the ice smelling bad, as per another persons comment below. We received advice to clean the ice bin often and keep the ice at a lower level, which made no difference.
When purchasing a fridge we had cheaper options, but we decided to spend more money to get a 'better quality' fridge. After our experience, I'd never buy another Westinghouse product, very disappointed with the performance and issues we've had after only 4 years.

Continual door problems! – Looking at replacing this fridge I have had since 2011. So here are my issues with it: Yes, the brown oozing from the door. Thought it was something spilt inside. Terriblel Fridge - No wonder its Discontinued!!! – There is thick black oozey substance coming from both sides of this fridge/freezer. I have 2 young children who have also noticed this - I am not happy paying $$$$ for a fridge that does this and could potentially pose a health risk. Have contacted Westinghouse, said they would send a "Tec" out (at their cost) - but haven't heard a damn thing. I am not happy. By looking over previous reviews it seems to be a known issue - ongoing issue. Show details

Good, but not great – We bought this fridge mainly because I wanted a cold water dispenser. we have had it for around 9 months now and we are generally pleased with it. However, after a few weeks we found the cold water lever would stay on when we moved the glass away. This happened intermittently but sometimes the overflow tray would overfill. service and they informed me that if the problem didn't happen when the tech was they they would charge me a fee ( cant remember but maybe around $150 AUD). I wasn't prepared to pay this so i let it go. Since then it has been working intermittently, probably 80/20. I'll get tech to come out before warranty runs out though. Still not good enough in my opinion for a $2000+ fridge, I'm not making this up. A few days ago I came home to ice on the floor. The ice dispenser had somehow allowed ice to bypass the lever dispensing mechanism and let ice fall freely out and onto the floor. I discovered that a block of ice had formed in the ice tray that supplies ice to the dispenser. I cleaned this out and it has been ok since. One thing that I am disappointed with though is the cold water dispenser. I'ts not cold enough. The fridge is set to 4 degrees C but it's nowhere near that.
Water leak after hose cracked on freezer door – Fridge water leaking after repair. This a retro fit of a water supply pipe. It has been a know issue for cracking. drinking function pointless. The repairman was nice and on time. No issue with the individual.
The quick fix kit where a smaller diameter pipe is fed down the inside of the faulty one saves time and money. But leaks! I can only imagine that the quick fix was a requirement to cover the hose failure/ known material failure.
Recommend someone to buy a Westinghouse not at this time.
Cant get anyone to fix it – I live in Queenstown NZ and the agency has no approved repairmen to fix! Leaves very bad aftertaste, will no longer purchase Westinghouse or Electrolux. Fridge part drops below freezing and ruining food, and rendering fruit and vegetables frozen. Contacted agent in Auckland. They are not interested. Shame on them Show details
Would be good if it didn't break down so much – Great fridge / freezer - when it works! Broken water pipe on freezer door – Without doubt the fracturing of the water hose at the bottom of the freezer door is due to a design fault, every fridge will suffer this problem as the water hose fatigues with the opening of the freezer door. Too late now to complain, you've had the fridge for 8 yrs. The hose cannot be replaced as it is moulded into the door insulation, the… Read more
inner hose sold as a spare is totally unacceptable because the water flow is severely restricted. It can be fixed as I have done if you have a Dremel and are a little bit handy. Remove the freezer door by disconnecting the top hinge and wiring plug. On the inside corner of the freezer door above the bottom hinge and below the seal use the Dremel cutting wheel to cut a hole about 5cm x 3cm. Cut the SS about 1cm from the side and bottom of the door, don't worry, you will never see this hole when its all good and done. Use the Dremel spiral cutter to dig out the insulation to expose a clear tube, the white water hose is inside. Carefully cut the clear tube to remove a piece about 4cm long to expose the water hose. The water hose can now be cut shorter. Get a piece of 6mm clear Beveridge tube, about 20cm long, heat 1cm of the end in boiling water, place through the hinge hole and press over of the white water pipe. Use some string and wrap around the water pipe to hold it firm while the tube is pushed on. Refit the door, cut the Beveridge hose to suit and connect into the push fit coupling under the fridge. The beveridge hose is not under pressure so will not leak, it is flexible and will last longer than the original. Good luck.
I am glad that I am not the only one suffering from poor design/material – Our WSE6070SA is quite old. We have not had use of the water or ice for about two years. I actually looked up the internet trying to find a solution on Youtube as I either have to fix it myself or put in in the shed as a beer frig. We live 380 km from nearest likely service at Dubbo. It is a pain not having ice, as I need the ice to use the… Read more
"sous vide", so a faulty product is more than just no cold water or ice.
I get the impression that they kept selling these frigs well after they knew they had a design/material problem.
I am guessing that the problem may be that the water goes through a very fancy bottom hinge and it as just not up to the job.
I have no idea of the purchase date. It was on some sort of special. They should have restricted the sale of these frigs to places that have a service centre, not remote locations
Water Leak – I too have a water leak at the door base when getting water from the door. Ilive in the country and am not looking forward to having to empty a full freezer and fridge and pay a callout fee to the country for what sounds like a low cost part. Westinghouse has always been my first choice but perhaps they have gone cheap on even their top range like many others. Very disappointing. Show details

Same problem with the cracked water pipe – No problems with the fridge to date apart from the cracked water pipe. Called Westinghouse to arrange a technician to repair not satisfied with the response so far telling me that technician will need to diagnose what appears to be from this thread a known problem. Should not have to pay to fix a known design fault. The response regarding the diagnosis appears to be a ploy to extract as much money from me as possible. Show details

DO NOT BUY! – I have had this fridge replaced once already. First time within 12 months as there was a crack in the fridge itself. Leaking water dispenser pipe – Another leak in the water dispenser pipe. I fixed the one at the base of the left door with a small piece of tube from Bunnings and that seems to be holding fine. Now it appears the pipe has a leak somewhere inside the door. Every time I use the dispenser a second stream of water comes from up inside the door. Has anyone else had this problem ,The door is a sealed unit so this time it isn't going to be easy to fix.
Fixed it in minutes – Cracked water dispenser pipe under left door. Water would leak when you press the dispenser leaver. I turned the water off at the wall. I went to Bunnings and in the irrigation isle they have clear plastic hose 5mm x 70mm $1.57 I cut the hose where it was cracked I then pushed my clear plastic tube over the door side first to create a… Read more
sleeve and then pushed the over side in as far as it could go so the clear hose didn't fold. The 5mm clear plastic hose is a extremely tight fit so no need for hose clamps. I turned the water back on and filled a cup no leak problem solved.
How to fix this problem – Like many people my Westinghouse WSE6070 developed a leak under the corner of the freezer door when using the filtered water function after about 5 years (i.e. just after the warranty expires). On contacting Westinghouse they advised me that the fix would cost $200 AUD. However this is a fault that affects many of these fridge/freezers and there… Read more
are many unhappy owners. Otherwise the fridge is a bit noisy, is rusting, has brittle door shelves (I have screwed 2 of these into the door) but it maintains good temperature, makes lots of ice and dispenses cold, filtered water. It is a good design let down by poor materials of which the water pipe is a perfect example: it is simply breaking down and is becoming brittle and hard.
The problem is that the pipe that feeds the filtered water is broken. It is a common problem. If you are handy you can fix it. You buy an "8mm press fit elbow". Google it. If you want to see what these are you need to look under the fridge. The best way to do this is tilt the fridge to one side and then put a piece of wood under the gap. Tilt the other way and put wood under the other side. Keep doing this until you can see the white pipe under the corner of the door. You will see a that the pipe is cracked at the bend. You need to fit the 8mm elbow onto the cracked pipe. This is not easy. Make sure that you wind the adjustable feet down so that the fridge does not crush the elbow. On my fridge the pipe was brittle and weak. I took a piece from the filler end.
If you look under you will see a clear pipe that is joined to the white pipe. That joiner is an 8mm push fit joiner. You need a 90 degree version to join at the cracked bit. Once you have the joiner, carefully cut the crack through and push the joiner UP first, then fit the other piece in. Be careful to tuck the finished pipe away. When I did it the fridge crushed the joiner when I took away the timber. To test for leaks simply get someone to fill a cup and then stop. If you get water out then you need to try again. Push fit joiners can be undone by carefully pushing the ends in. Try this BEFORE you fit all the bits together. In an ideal fix, you would buy some 8mm pipe in case the stuff at the bottom is too old (As mine was).
Thanks go to the guy who suggested this some where else on this forum
Piece of "SxxT" – Same old leaking water problem.............my thanks to everybody else for your reviews, and take some little comfort in knowing that you have spared me the frustration of dealing with these clowns. I won't even bother to contact them, I'll simply learn from the experience .............. I'll never buy another Westinghouse product and I'll influence as many people as I can to do similiarly.
This would have to be the worst fridge ever made! Not only that but the service or lack thereof from – The fridge is a lemon. We're on our third set of doors, second new set of electronic boards and the fridge hasn't celebrated its 5th birthday yet. Had a Westinghouse previous which was good. Westinghouse Joy – 7 years and working perfectly~Reasonably regular cleaning of the ice maker avoids all issues with this unit and if you follow the owners manual its easy to do as well. The only thing replaced in 7 years has been the light globe. Would i buy another one? Yes no question
