Horrible temperature control – Worked for a few years then we had to constantly defrost it, take out all items and wait a day for it to dry out. Absolute nuiscance. Also had to have it repaired twice.Do not reccomend. Still have a kelvinator that is over 15 years old and works PERFECTLY. Really shows the difference in quality

Very Poor – I don't have the ice maker version though the rest is the same. Worked well for about 2.5 years then had to have parts replaced. That kept it going for about another 3.5 years and is now ready for the scrap heap. Worthless junk. The unit was loud and not so easy to clean. Was hot to touch the mid panel between freezer and fridge even in winter. Temp control was poor in summer. Glad to see the back of it.

Perfect double door fridge! – I honestly don't know why the reviews are so bad. We bought a refurbished model for $1600 and haven't looked back. Ice maker, filtered water, large fridge capacity. Perfect for someone who has a lot of parties. Ice maker is a little noisy when the ice drops and the bucket is very large but apart from that no complaints. 2 years old now and still going strong! Easy to clean, wide fridge shelves, filtered water, ice maker, reliable, nice looking, not wide for a double door Noisy ice maker, wire racks a tad annoying with loose meat

Terrible design poor performance – Freezer storage has no draws only wire shelves and the spacing between the rungs are such as to allow packets to slip through. We froze bags of mince meat which slipped through rungs, froze and then had to be defrosted to get them free. Everything has to be taken off the freezer shelf to access packets at the back as the shelves do not slide out. The ice container is shoddy and cheaply made. The water/ice dispenser drip tray is shallow and spillage occurs posing and OH&S risk on tiled floors. Fridge compartment does not get cold enough without having the setting turned right down. Then fridge runs almost continuously. The air cold circulation seems poor in the fridge compartment. This is a shocker! Bought through Appliances On Line. No photo of fridge internals on the website otherwise I would not have bought it. I like absolutely nothing about this fridge. Extremely poor performance and design.

Bought this fridge just under a year ago. The first one arrived with foam oozing out of it and stuck all over, grease smeared everywhere and a crooked door. After a persistent fight with Whirlpoo, it was replaced - with one door hanging 6mm lower than the other. Now after so little use, all three shelves, which have cheapo plastic trim on heavy glass (design flaw) have cracked. I was shocked to have Whirlpoo tell me that the shelves are - are you ready for this- accessories, and therefore not covered by warranty. Do not buy Whirlpool products, they are junk.

I will NEVER EVER buy another Whirlpool appliance Nancy. They are rubbish!!! As you too have, unfortunately, discovered. I cannot fault Appliances On-Line where I purchased the item. They would do well by not holding or selling this product in particular. I too was treated almost contemptuously when i complained to Whirlpool. Not so much as an apology, or how about sending someone out to see why a customer is so unhappy. Not a bit of it!

Thanks guys for the update on this fridge. I purchased the 6WSC20C6XY in Jan 2011 and after only a few months had major issues with a water leak and electrical components freezing. I have been in a fight with Whirlpool since August last year for a replacement, which is now 6 months+ away and this model has been offered by whirlpool as an alternative. I will now be replying to them with a big fat no! Whirlpool customer service and quality control is pathetic. My review and experience can be read here http://www.productreview.com.au/p/whirlpool-6wsc20c6xy.html I love these forums, speaking to people with real life experience of products is very helpful. Thanks again.

This model has design flaws which Whirlpool know about. Does your ice dispenser keep jamming? Does the freezer door get moisture condensing on the outside? Does the water out of the dispenser not seem cold? Has the back panel of the freezer compartment buckled? Has the panel above the ice box on the inside of the freezer door buckled a little at the top? Have you found out how expensive the water filter is?

peter30 yep too all of the above, had our fridge 6 years and had it repaired 8 times. now its out of warrantee and shagged again. we should all collect them together and dump them back onto whirlpools verg. the worst company to deal with they just dont give a fig about what we spend..............i wont be buying another whirlpool product ever again........

Worked like a Swiss watch until the first breakdown. Of course this happened over the New Years holiday period and we had to throw out a whole heap of stuff and live out of an esky. Whirlpool's service was crap and they shook us down approximately $350 to fix the heap of garbage. The fridge worked well until the repair was out of warranty. Approx 4 mths later. Then water was leaking out the bottom in massive puddles. Called out another fridge repairman and apparently some drain was blocked with muck. Surely WP could have checked that when they did our big repair. Another $200. Now a year later the freezer works but the fridge doesn't so I've been told to defrost the freezer for a few days and then see if that helps the fridge. If it doesn't then we have to get another repair guy. This was not a cheap fridge and we have an old fridge now used for beers etc which is twice as old and never had a moments problems. A Samsung. I wouldn't recommend whirlpool due to both their product and service. Hopefully, this defrost will do the trick on the fridge because a new one is off the cards for us at the moment.

Broken shelves – The fridge is poorly made and parts are poor quality. The shelf has broken and three drawers which are not covered by the warranty. read the fine print. If you decide to go with this fridge you will be disappoionted by customer service, the quality and the company. forget the extended warranty we paid $300 and they wont cover us for anything. Everything including the customer support by whirlpool.

same with me. I cant get customer service to reply to my emails or help me find replacement shelves. Even the inside lining if the fridge is cracking.

Hello Well we have the same problem they are a disgrace. We have had the Freezer door replaced after it arrived scratched and its just gotten worse , now there is a gap between the fridge and door .

We had to fight to get them here in the first place ,shocking service at Harvey Norman and from whirlpool.

Why buy the local when you get such a poor product and service .

NEVER AGAIN !
