Got 20 years out of this machine! – This was our first washing machine and it has only just died after 20 years! It has cleaned well and been gentle on our clothes and we've had no issues with it. Apparently the cycles are longer than top loaders, but if I needed to put more washes through in a day, I would load it up the night before and plug the cord into a timer at the power point, to come on early. I mostly used the cycle on the normal wash, which took about 1.5 hours per load. Lighter soiled items such as towels I put on rapid wash, which took about 45mins. The only slight criticism was that the spin cycle didn't seem to spin the clothes as dry as some machines I've used elsewhere. Well done Whirlpool on a long lasting machine - I don't expect to get 20 years out of any replacement these days!!

Good value and reliable machine, will buy bigger load next time but will be looking at whirlpool aga – This washing machine is still going more than fourteen years later. We now have got a leak occasionally from the washing powder drawer. It has however been very good value and reliable and is used every day. The plastic on the casing has faded a bit and is showing its age luckily it is tucked away in wash room so it doesnt matter too much to me.

Something stopped after ten years but try getting ten year guarantee on anything these days – Hopefully replacing the pump will fix my problem. looked at replacing machine but, you cannot get better than two year guantee for the price. has washed consistently the whole time without an issue has done the job consistently, great product but, saleman tells me that the later models are not made in italy and are not the same qulity. could just be sales speak.

Update: Checked the pump just by running the machine with some water in it. Also just ran the drain function after putting in some water which also showed that the pump was ok. In the end the repair man was called after i took back off and i could hear and see arcing. Turns out bushes were gone. $200 later and all good again. repair man reckons bearings are still good (never worth replacing in these machines) so hopefully will get some more good years!

still going well. just bought a new cold water hose. older versions were made in italy and require a differnt sized hose to the australia version.

Fast, reliable and afforable – I had this machine for about 9 years, it was a decent machine but the last few weeks it has started to die and so I have now replaced it. The reason for replacement was due to the machine no longer draining correctly causing the machine to be water logged and the clothes still being saturated after the spin cycle. Other than this it has been a very reliable and affordable machine for someone who was on a very low income. It did a decent job, but now with all the newer fancy machines it is mediocre. I have now upgraded to an Electrolux EWF12832. Reliable, fast wash cycles, easy to use No draining in the doors rubber so mould grows quickly if you don't dry it after use

Worst machine ever, terrible customer service, had nothing but problems since the day I purchased it – The machine put the socks through into the pump, cost $77 each time you wash to get them removed! Had nothing but problems with it, customer service staff rude and hang up on you! Bad customer service
