Win r380 – I wanted to buy 2 tyres through afterpay but autoguru was all they offered so I put in a quote. They come back with winrun r380 for 105au per tyre..which is budget to mid range in Australia. I've never heard of these tyres before so I got online and did some review research..on this site as well..and saw pretty good reviews. So I went ahead with… Read more

the purchase..abit of hesitation with them being made in China. But I've had 2 sailun atrezzo tyres on for almost 3yrs made in China and still alot of tread. The winrun r380 I am pleased so far with the tyres ...low noise..good straight handling.. good traction on road around corners..its almost summer here so going good in hot weather but havnt had chance to try in wet yet. But good reviews in wet on here. So yeh for the price I'm definitely happy so far with the tyres..also my Nissan xtrail front wheel drive tyres on front..I've actually noticed a slight decrease in fuel consumption surprisingly..from 9l/100km to just over 10l/100km. Time will tell with wet weather handling and tread wear whether I buy again. In the end definitely don't knock cheaper Chinese made tyres as my experiences with all 4 tyres have been nothing but good. Better than paying almost double for major brand tyres. In saying that the reason I had to buy new tyres was because my 2 khumo tyres 4yrs old 50pc tread left were found to have hair line splits on inside wall of both tyres when I went fir tyre rotation..very disappointed with that..I paid 160au per tyre thinking khumo a major brand would last longer. Nope. The sailun atrezzos were alot cheaper and have lasted longer..made in China also.

Cheap and nasty – I purchased a set of Winruns tyres for my vehicle but less then 2000km of driving they are out of shape and vibrating my car to the point it's unusable. Unfortunately they are Made in China and I should've known better. Save your money and time and purchase a reputable brand. Show details

All Terain beauty’s – I recently stepped up from normal Ute tyres to A/Ts. I chose Winrun because they were affordable , reliable and great value for money. The tyres travel well on the highway but also off road as well, so a great all round product to suit my needs. Very happy customer Show details

Great budget tyre – Can't fault them for budget tyres at $90 each fitted. Previously ran Bridgestone Duelers on my Subaru Outback and now on Winrun. Took them down to Perisher and grip and handling is better than I expected from a budget brand. No slippage whatsoever. Was also quiet on the highways.

Fairly Happy – I got about 50,000 kms out of a set of these on a mitsubishi mirage. Echoing what someone else said, these tires struggled to go straight for about the first 5,000kms. Driving on the highway was miserable due to the car slowly wandering randomly left or right, endlessly. This was not an alignment problem. This problem disappeared after the tyres… Read more

wore in a bit around 5000kms. My car also initially handled like a tank... the agility and fun of the drive was gone. I also feel this improved in time, or I just got used to it.

Wet grip is average. The Winrun's felt consistent and predictable in the wet, but certainly could not corner or brake the way the previous Yokohama BluEarth's or Goodyear Fuelmax tyres could in rainy conditions. There are a decent number of tyres out there, even from big name brands (their cheaper models) that are just plain dangerous in the wet. The Winrun's are average in wet... but are one of the cheapest tyres around, so good value.

Would I buy again? Sure, I guess. The price is right. I do a decent bit of uber driving and every penny counts. I drive safely and defensively. But honestly... Continental has some of the best tyres on the market for braking and cornering in the wet. I'll likely spend the extra $50 a tyre for better safety, and driving performance. A crash at speed can cost thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, but more importantly, your limbs or life. I like saving money, tyre prices hurt, but there are smarter ways to save money.

If you are truly broke and it is a choice between used tyres or the winruns... pick the winruns every time. All tyres lose a substantial amount of their grip each year as the rubber ages and hardens. I always notice around 4-5 years a tyres wet grip is often terrible compared to how the tyre was when new. This is also why new Winrun's will feel (and probably will) outperform any tyre getting replaced that is 5+ years old. But the reality is the more expensive brand tyres will perform even better. I'm glad to have Winrun in the market providing quality, high value tyres, but don't fool yourself into believing they will perform equally to Continental, Yokohama, Goodyear, etc's expensive lines of tyres.

However part (but not all) of the reason the more expensive tyres perform better in braking tests is they almost always use softer tyre compounds, meaning not only are expensive tyres more expensive initially, but they will often wear out far more quickly due to the soft compound. The UTQG rating for the Winrun R330's is 420, and is a measure the the compound softness of a tyre (the lower, the softer). You don't want this number to be much higher than 400-500, because the harder compound will have weaker grip, and allow the treadlife to significantly outlast the 5 year interval you should replace the tyres. Some of the expensive brand tyres will sometimes have a treadwear rating of 200, which theoretically will wear out twice as fast as a tyre with a 400 rating. Some of the top performing summer tyres have treadwear ratings in the low hundreds. I can't afford a new set of tyres every 15-20k kms, so at some point it is worth sacrificing some performance for treadwear life. This rating system is used in the usa, but not Australia. It is far from perfect, but will give a ballpark indication.

Ultimately, tyre track tests, like choice.com.au are the only true way to get empirical data on stopping performance. Choice has not tested any Winruns. The only such test for Winrun I've found is for the R330's (not R380).

https://www.whichcar.com.au/events/tyre-test/motor-tyre-test-2015

While not directly comparable, the trend is that Chinese brand tyres almost always finish at the bottom of the pack of all of these type tests. There are much worse tyres out there, that cost a lot more money than Winrun, some of them even from the top tyre names (their cheaper models). It is not hard to see why many people are happy with Winrun for the price they pay. Anyway, be safe :)

Great budget tyre – Bought them for my 2nd car which is a small hatch back. Grip and handling is much better the expected from these. Dry road grip is great and while little noisy the difference wasn't great comparw to main stream tyre brands used before Show details

Can't fault them, $69 fitted and balanced – Only had them on for a week on my 2012 Camry Altise. Found a tyre shop in Bayswater WA that fit them for $69 balanced. I was worried about noise but they are quieter than the Bridgestone Potenza Serenity Plus tyres that were on previously. They are asymetrical and it's rained a bit however they grip superior to the Bridgestone Potenza. These… Read more

are H rated (210kph) vs the Bridgestones V (240kph) but I don't drive that fast, who does in a Camry?!

They do feel a bit softer.

All in all I can't see why I'd spend $160 on a tyre vs $69. I hope they are this good a few thousand kilometres in, so far nothing to state otherwise.

Have done approx 250kms since fitting.

You have to be realistic with your expectations – Great for the price you pay, but don’t be expecting anything other than what you pay... I probably would get them again, depending on the money I have to spend at the time when I need to replace my tyres, ...if I have enough money I’d buy better, but if I’m skint, I’d buy them again, knowing I get what I pay for and having low expectations … Read more

So far the majority of driving I’ve done has been on dry road and I haven’t needed to put them to the test, but after about a tank of petrol (around 500 km) the noise from these tyres really became noticeable. But since I paid about $60 per tyre vs double that for other tyres I chalked that down to the price

Good value tyres – I don't do any off-road driving. Most of the driving is through the city and occasionally typical South Australian dirt roads. So far I did not feel any difference between these tyres and the tyres I got with my Forester - neither the fuel consumption, nor the car steering, nor grip. At the same time they are very cheap. Overall, I feel satisfied.  Show details

These are best budget tires out there – Got them through tyresales.com.au. Very happy with the purchase. As these are very cheap tires my expectations were pretty low. But I got to admit, these tyres did so much better. They very quiet which I wasn’t even expecting. They are good on wet conditions. Comfortable. Yet to find out the durable part. Hope they will last long.  Show details

Perfect choice – I am driving Uber full time . These tyres are excellent with the price you are going to pay. Good on dry and wet roads. Never failed and i will buy again. Previously i used those tyres and they lasted for more than 60 000 km. Highly recommend if you are looking for budget tyres.  Show details

Tyres seem to stray offline allot! – Tyres really struggling to go straight, seem to wander all over the road, brand new, had wheel alignment as well, but still tyres take you all over the lane, not happy at all, no stability...no confidence!!! Good in wet though...would I buy again? No I would not, previous optilife tyres held a straight line very stable. These things just provide no confidence, your constantly correcting direction.....Not good...but cheap  Show details

Winrun tyres – I purchased these tyres 12 months ago and they have done the job very well, they are not a well known brand, but don't come with a hefty price tag either, would buy them again, I have travelled throughout Victoria and NSW towing my caravan, and these tyres have never failed me  Show details

Budget tyres. Value for money – I found these budget tyres to be of value for money, and perform relatively well in the wet or dry. Good for a buzz car. They've not let me down so far, and have sufficient grip in the wet or dry. They're not premium tyres, but good enough to get by on if you don't want to burn a hole in your pocket.  Show details

Great tyres for the money – These tyres are in the budget line but brake and handle as good as very good tyres. Handle both the wet and dry conditions well. Only complaints are slight tyre noise, and that they are nothing much to look at. Would buy again as they satisfy needs without breaking the bank.  Show details

Good all round weather grip – Purchased these off Tyroola's site online. Only driven on them for about a month but durability wise they are holding up well. Take my car on a few mountain runs and these handle the same, if not better than the Pirelli's I previously had on. Will more than likely buy another set in the future.  Show details

Very good value for money – I bought this tyre on Supercheap's web site. It was $50 delivered per tyre plus $15 fitting. I have so far did about 5000km on it. it handles well in dry and very well in wet including pouring rain. The noise level is about the same as the Dunlop I had before. I did a lot of research before order this tyre and am very happy with the purchase.  Show details

Low price and excellent performance and durability – I purchased these tyres on Ebay for half the price of any tyre from a retailer for $70 delivered free anywhere in Australia. I've driven on the course bitumen of the Stuart Hwy and along many dirt and gravel roads in central Australia and so far, after 20,000 Km, the tread has worn about 1mm, and with 5 mm remaining, I'm looking at approx… Read more

100,000kms. I have to take into consideration that out in the country outback there is very little breaking or cornering and stop/start acceleration, but there are more grids to drive over at 110km/hr, corrugations and gravel on the dirt sections, which comprise about 20% of my total mileage.

I don't understand why these cheap tyres get such bad reviews, certainly there may be some bad brands, but from now on I'm sticking with Winrun R380
