Withings Body Wi-Fi Smart Scale

works as described. Setup via app was straightforward. No complaints Show details
Same problem as others have experienced. It worked well till the battery needed to be changed now won’t turn on and support can’t fix & the discount coupon they offered is useless too as you can’t use it at resellers and can’t purchase via the Australian website. Support chat is very slow to respond “in a moment can be hours, then if you don’t… Read more
respond in 8 min it closes”. Very disappointing for a relatively expensive scale to only last three years.
The Withings Body + scale we purchased on Amazon ended up in the trash due to a problem reconnecting the device to our phone to set it up upon the second battery exchange. We contacted support and all they had to say is that it is a known problem and that we would contact us when there is a fix. We asked them for a replacement component that we… Read more
could install to fix the issue but kept receiving cookie cutter replies stating that they are working on a fix and will contact us when available. In other words, customer support sucks, do not expect a resolution for a product that is defective with a KNOWN issue. They wouldn't even offer a discounted replacement product.
Scale arrived and would not connect to my phone. I spent hours on trying to figure it out. The Withing's support is horrific - they make you post on a community forum unless you live in the USA, where they have a live chat bot. I posted all the information on the forum but got no response (only agreement that the support was bad). Eventually last… Read more
night at 11pm at night I waited for the live support in USA time zone and spent an hour getting it to work. Customer Service needs to improve to support this scale.
Expensive waste – Like others, I found the set-up unnecessarily complicated and had a lot of issues with the wi-fi connection etc. I have found over the course of three odd years that the scales have been wildly inaccurate from time-to-time and have now just stopped providing any meaningful measurements (the last reading it gave me was 79 kg but my doctor weighted me in at 87 kg!!) Don’t buy these scales – Complex set up. Tried pairing with my phone several times and it failed. Would only switch on intermittently. Out of its box and returned to the shop for a full refund within the same day. Best avoided in my view. Show details
Care needed buying scales that need WiFi – We bought these scales two and a half years ago as they seemed to at least give the same weight 3 times in a row if you got on and off them in the shop. I didn't realise at the time that they would need connecting to wifi etc or that they would produce a set of fatuous numbers regarding my body composition, we didn't need any of that. And they… Read more
worked very well until one day I hopped on and the scales said hello to me in 6 different languages and wanted to be SETUP again. I went through the SETUP procedure 8 times after finding it on the Withings website, nothing doing. The procedure went round and round in circles. I tried to contact Withings support and after fighting my way through the idiot bots guarding the process I finally got a person. By this stage I had spent about 8 hours working on the problem. After another 6 hours of fruitless effort working through their suggestions I finally found someone who seemed interested in helping. I tried this person's suggestions which increased in complexity over time until I was finally away from home for 10 days. During that time I received the last suggestion to which I immediately responded explaining I wasn't with the scales and would take up the issue again on my return home. I responded again this morning explaining that I would take the scales to another wifi network as they suggested in the next few days. Withings immediately responded telling me the investigation had been closed, no reasons, and implying I would have to start again from square one. By this stage I have probably wasted about 18 hours of my time. I'm planning to junk the scales and spend some time trying to find a set that passes the hop on and off test that does NOT need connection to anything. For anyone contemplating buying Withings scales, I would say don't - the support is designed to be exhausting and at best is timecosuming and unhelpful.
Over engineered rubbish – Inaccurate measurements, unreliable, sometimes doesn’t recognise me. No support and over complicated app. All I wanted to do was track my weight Over engineered garbage, 100% avoid Show details
Complicated set up process took one hour – Took me one hour to complete the connection to the Wi-Fi into my iPhone not happy at all Show details
Body+ scales suddenly start giving wildly inaccurate data – I have been using their Body+ scale and found it useful for a number of years. Suddenly from one day to the other it started displaying body far readings 10% lower than actual! I've tried everything, cleaning, resetting, etc. Customer support have been unable to resolve. Now it seems that lots of others have this issue and Withings can't help with their faulty products Won't buy again
The whole point of wi-fi is the app – The reason you buy a connected scale for an order of magnitude more than a simple measuring device, is the 'set and forget' ability to record your daily measurements and then check in on them and gain some data insight. The "health mate" app has been a deterrent to me using these scales! It used to have a beautiful zoomable graph view with moving… Read more
averages. Recent updates have reduced the graphs down to 90s excel style click-stop graphs. Show me my weight over the last year? Nope, the app shows your 2023 monthly averages only. But it's January! Too bad, one dot. That's not a trend. Give me real insights! You had one job. I've now jumped through hoops to do automatic syncing through two hops to Garmin, for a graph a grad could build
The new app has killed these scales! – I bought the Body+ scales in October 2020, and despite a few problems at the beginning getting the app to work, I finally got it going. It has been great. Loved tracking my fitness everyday. Now the people at Withings have thought, 'it's not broken, so lets break it" which they did with a software update which has completely ruined the experience… Read more
for me. It no longer provides all of the great data I could see before. In it's place, illogical backward programming which has made the scales unusable Literally. The app no longer syncs to my scales, and the only way around it is to create a fictitious new user, weigh myself using my old user, re weigh myself as the new user and weight 5 to 10 minutes in the hope that the data has synced. It the biggest backward step in updates I've ever witnessed. So my advice to Withings, is REINSTATE THE OLD UPDATE!
New update ruins good scales – I bought a set of Body + scales in October or November 2020, and they worked fine with the old app (Health Mate). However late last year, Withings decided to "update" the app which has caused the functionality to take a huge backward step. My scales no longer sends my weight measurements to the dashboard, so there's no way of recording my weight… Read more
gain or loss or any of the other parameters. The old app worked fine, but then someone at Withings and Health Mate, decided to break something that wasn't broken. I used to track my weight gain, fat and muscle mass, BMI and water content daily. Now with the new update, I can no longer access these details. Why would you ruin a perfectly good app, and replace it with one that makes your scales useless? It just doesn't make sense. So I contacted Withings support and they refuse to acknowledge the new update is to blame. Instead for the last week they have got me to factory reset the scales (twice), uninstall and reinstall the app, take the batteries out for more than 60 seconds (twice), create a new user then get me to delete the new user, provide and confirm my user details twice, reboot my phone (twice), confirm the model of my phone and the android version I'm using, I was instructed to try another mobile device (like I have multiple phones lying around the house), refresh the app page, and do a forced sync! This diagnosis process (which failed because the problem is actually with the app update) took over a week!
All other forums and review sites say the same thing; it's all a result of the new update!
So thanks Withings for wasting my time when all along you knew it was the app causing the problems, and thanks Health Mate for ruining a perfectly good set of scales.

Surprisingly accurate – When we were in the market for smart scales, we considered a lot of different brands before settling on Withings. Compared to a lot of other options, Withings is one of the most expensive options, but you get what you pay for. My wife being sceptical of anything smart I purchase set out to compare the accuracy of these scales to other scales we… Read more
had. They were accurate within a few grams which validated the purchase.
Our favourite feature of these scales is the profiles feature. It allows you to create unique profiles for everyone in your family. Somehow these scales know who is standing on them, allowing you to keep individual track of weight and body composition. The display will show you a graph with your weight difference plotted, body composition statistics and even the weather.
Coupled with the free HealthMate app which works really well and has a nice UI, you can manage your scales and access the data that gets automatically uploaded to the cloud after you stand on them.
The best scales for your home – I purchased a Withings Body BMI Wifi Smart Scale (White) so I can check my weight everyday after my shower and save the measurements to my Mobile Phone so I can keep track of my weight. Show details
Using it for years – I used an old amazon account to buy this and couldn't find proof of purchase anymore. Still, five years history of weight recording from this device is proof enough. Its a good weighing scales as once you have it set up with the app, it does not need future bluetooth syncing to get data sent to your phone. Everything is done via wi fi… Read more
connection.
So weight up, check your phone app. Refresh, its recorded there.
Even with multiple user, unless 2 person or more weighted close to each other, which then you have to select user. Easy peasy too. Otherwise machine will automatically recognize who you are and no additional actions are needed.
Very smooth usage.
App also integrate with many other health apps to share information if you set up and allow it.
Since getting this weighing machine. Got one for each of all my siblings. They use it regularly if not everyday to track their weight too.
Once a while my kids will stand on it with or without me knowing. Their weight is recorded too and data is sent to my app under their own profile.
Cute to see the data appear sometimes.
In pregnancy mode. They have a shaded graph thing for you to try to reach a certain weight range according to your weight before pregnancy. I found it very helpful. Am sure there are other modes which I have not tried.
Only downside is that before it uses up all the juice in the battery. It will start having issues sending data wirelessly. Not saying it drains battery fast at all, it still last a satisfactory length of timd between each change.
I don't thing I can do without it now having so much convenient tracking weight of whole family easily.
Both my partner and I became motivated yo lose weight after seeing all the generated chart in the app from our weights. I can surely say we live a much healthier life style than prior to owning this machine.
Set up easy and it works – It works alongside an app called Health Mate, downloaded for free from Apple. The download was easy and without a hitch. Scales were easy to pair up with the app. I don’t think it will work without pairing. Cons. The weight only stays up on scales screen for a few seconds then flips over to the weather, then it goes off. There appears to be no… Read more
option to lengthen the time and to get rid of the weather.
Up to eight people can be set up to use on the scale, but it does this automatically. Too bad if two of you weigh similar as you can’t configure it manually on the scale.
There is a ten second delay required when moving the scale, or others using it. So it can reconfigure itself.
