$1,300+ to service the bike – I paid $9,500 for my brand new 2023 model (in 2024) and I like the bike but Yamaha City (in Lorimer St) are charging me over $1,300 for a V-belt service which is to be done every 20,000km. That's roughly every second month for me, working as a motorcycle courier, with the interim service costing over $700. So over $1,000 a month to keep the bike… Read more

running is simply not viable for me so I'll go back to using a Honda again and I'll never buy Yamaha again.

I wouldn't recommend a Yamaha vehicle to anyone, they wanted me to sign an NDA – I cannot recommend that anyone purchase one of these vehicles from Yamaha Motor Australia. Mine had numerous issues regarding to it's manufacturing and features. I had to go through NSW Fair Trading to sort out a refund and Yamaha Motor Australia had the guts to ask me to sign an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement), in an attempt to silence a customer… Read more

and prevent other people from knowing what happened.

1. The frame of the scooter wasn't painted properly, many locations are missing paint or showing defects, parts are rusted and paint is flaking off at the engine mounts. 2. I don't believe the LED headlights meet ADR as the amount of glare being scattered everywhere can distract or impede the vision of other road users. 3. The seat is very uncomfortable and not suitable for trips longer than 15 minutes, a replacement "comfort" seat is available for purchase for $400. Of course they're happy to sell a better version but the one that comes stock sucks. 4. The windscreen does not provide adequate wind protection in either position. A better version is an additional purchase too. The amount of buffeting is deafening, it's better without a windscreen but that leaves holes in the fairing. 5. The scooter can lose track of the keyless fob, it continues to beep when the key is extremely close to the vehicle, well within the range specified within the manual. This process of operating the "key" is clunky, unintuitive and wastes time compared to a traditional key or a better system used by other manufacturers. This beeping is extremely irritating and happens even while I am still sitting on the scooter with the key located in a front pocket. 6. The phone connectivity feature is completely broken/useless. It requires two separate apps to be installed and a separate pairing process to connect to the scooter. If I try to use the "always running auto pair feature" then severe phone battery drain occurs. 7. There's such an annoying message that appears every time you start the scooter and it does not go away automatically. So you can't even see your RPM without pressing buttons.

That's just the issues with the bike, Yamaha Motor Australia are pathetic and I've really tried to give them a fair chance, this was the 4th Yamaha Motorcycle I've owned and the 2nd one bought new. They do not care about you or the vehicle that you bought from them.

The maxi scooter that has it all – Wow! I've had my new XMAX for a week now and just can't stop riding it. It's big enough to be very comfortable for big guys, (I'm 188cm tall), the small seat back keeps you stationary and is easy on the back. The display is beautiful, one screen showing your speed and the other with a host of menus to go though. It has phone connectivity to run… Read more

the Garmin street maps app although I haven't really tested this yet. The under seat storage is enough to comfortably store two full face helmets and some riding gear. Power Wise, this has kick. You would feel comfortable riding on the freeway and it's also nimble enough to nip through built up traffic. I honestly love it, and the petrol green colour is just beautiful. Thank you Yamaha.

Great commuter – I bought this bike early 2020, just walked into my local dealer and bought it, no test ride, I use it to travel over 60km every day for work, hwy rush hour no problem easy to lane filter. Will do hwy speeds all day, it has lots of low to mid range torque, great storage, has traction control and fuel economy will get over 380km per tank. One thing… Read more

to check is the head lights, make sure you get the dealer to adjust them as the factory has them at the lowest setting. Cons, suspension the front dives when breaking hard and rear shocks are soft, ok for around town, lots of buffeting at 100km plus (I'm 178cm with screen at highest setting) disappointed with the stock screen. It goes great and is a bargain at the price paid $8,890 on road. Got Yamaha insurance only paid an extra $250 and that includes and extra year warranty, :-) Have done just over 12,000km and had her serviced at the dealer only, 1st serv cost @500km is $168. 2nd and 3rd serv @5000km and 10,000km is $242 plus fluids and filters, the service at 20,000km will cost more as it requires v-belt and variator rollers and valve clearance to be checked. Will be keeping her and upgrading the suspension soon.

Fit for Purpose! – For 10-20 minute runs (including passenger), storage and occasional highway drives, this is the best motor scooter I have ever had, value for money. I can store a week's worth of groceries under the seat or two full face helmets. There is so much space I haven't had to bother with a storage box on the back which helps improve the speed and… Read more

smoothness of the ride. Yes, the design looks space-agey but it is designed for aero dynamics. At 140 km there is still very little wind resistance at all. The fob makes it all the more convenient. Just rock up, turn the switch and off you go. But again, its all about what your needs are. I live in a small city where most of my trips are 5 to 10 minutes with the occasional 20 minute drive. Half of the time I'm popping over to the shops or down to the beach for a quick swim. Love it. And I wouldn't get anything smaller. What's the point? Its super easy to handle.

Great scooter, covers all bases – I’ve had this scooter for 8 mths now,and couldn’t be happier. The standard suspension isn’t too bad for average putting around, but as I like to ride it a bit harder I’ve installed YSS rear shocks and YSS springs in the forks. This has transformed the scooter a lot, it’s now much better and confidence inspiring when riding in the country… Read more

backroads. Good for longer weekend rides, storage is great and the fuel economy is great. I added a comfort seat and an Akro pipe. This is definitely a keeper. I can see this staying in my garage a long time. So yes, I can recommend this scooter without hesitation. My first service cost me $167.00 at Excite Motorcycles in Penrith, NSW.

Nice Traffic buster – Had this bike a year now and done 2000km. Ordered this maxi scooter new without even having seen one in a shop, or even sat on one, just read the reviews ! $8000 on the road. First thing I noticed coming off a tricity was the hump between your feet can be annoying, This also means you swing a leg over rather than step through it. After getting… Read more

used to this, the scooter becomes quite nice. It's stable at 100 km and I've had it up to 140 with just wind buffeting stopping going further. I put the screen up to its maximum and also have a clip on sports screen so virtually no wind noise. It does buffet around my shoulders a lot. The engine is awesome, very smooth crawling through traffic, lane splitting, then hit the gas and it gets in front of any cars very swiftly. I average 2.6 litres/100 km which is awesome. The seat is comfortable, two hour rides zero issues. Storage, I arrive at my destination in work clothes, take my laptop bag out, put jacket and helmet in, and arrive at meetings and no one knows I've even scootered there and haven't had to find or pay for a car park. The bad points would be being a large scooter the wind pushes it around more than a bike, it only came with one key fob so I paid $200 for a spare key, and all the electronics worry me, might be a problem when it gets much older. Overall very happy with it, cuts 20 minutes off my commute by car through stationery traffic.
