Good one – I purchased this soundbar for around six months and I quite like it. I have used this soundbar to improve the sound quality of my workstation at a really good price. In terms of performance/price, I think this one has really good value. Show details

Great one – I have purchased this soundbar more than six months now. It really made a difference to my Tv Sound. Lots of bass sound and great subwoofer. It lacks behind in some instances, however, it is so great for the price. Show details

Simply amazing for the price - an awesome soundbar – So impressed with this soundbar for the price; Great sound, loads of options for tweaking sound. Had a 6 year old $700 surround system rated at 500W with 5.1 dts, 5 large speakers + subwoofer. Then bought the Yamaha to save space. The yamaha 1080 is awesome for home theatre and I got to dump 5 speakers for one low silhouette bar, that is easy to… Read more

hook up (think one cable). And the sound is excellent without paying $1000. Great bass, easily customisable sound options with its remote control. Audiophiles will complain, but for home/family - perfect. Its 120W speaker output is more than enough for even old metal heads like myself :)

Just great value for the money, clear sound, best value soundbar in its price range.

Great sound bar for the price – I am very pleased with this purchase. Lots of functions, great sound, scalability with a subwoofer add on option. The sound can have a little too much bass but that’s better than not enough. Show details

Great first soundbar – I love the base and the sound. I think for the price and built in dual sub Woofers with Bluetooth 5 and HT controller app I cant complain at all. Hands down their best value for money and quality sound bar. The app allows fine control of sub woofer and has dedicated modes for viewing content. Show details

Regret this purchase now :( – I got this from Harvey Norman $145. While the price is good - it's not much better than a bluetooth portable speaker. No treble control, or midrange. Very muddy and basic functions are only available via the (buggy and outdated) Yamaha app. Those who say it's an improvement on the TV speaker? Well that's just stating the obvious. Heads up - I… Read more

doesn't work properly lay flat. For those who say it does - try facing it toward you, it's like a whole new speaker. (but still massively underwhelming).

Pros:

It's Yamaha, so it's not quite as plastic feeling as the others.

Cons:

Even with the ClearVoice option, there's no treble - it's just muddy and awful.

As it doesn't sound right flat, having it facing you makes it HUGE. Very unsightly and just looks bad next to a 3mm OLED TV.

The dimmer resets every time you turn it on ad off again. Very annoying if you use the TV remote for volume as it has no dimmer option, so you're stuck with the crappy little remote they give you.

It's not ATMOS (obviously, bummer for Netflix fans).

I wish I have bought a better on - for $165, you can get MUCH better sound from a portable bluetooth speaker.

Disappointing product. Definitely for those who don't know any better.

First soundbar – Very easy to set up. Also bought a HDMI cable to connect that way which was not included. Provided I remember to turn on the power to both TV and soundbar it all works as it did before, no need to use the new remote for the soundbar as it automatically turns on. Probably haven't used it to its full potential. But do remember this is baseline… Read more

quality I paid $189 including the HDMI cable and delivery. If you want better sound spend more money. I am happy with it.

Quality soundbar that is value for money – This soundbar was so easy to setup and get working by connecting to a the Samsung smart TV via an HDMI cable. Love the fact that everything is contained in one device and there is no bulky sub woofer taking up floor real estate. The difference in sound was noticeable immediately with improved speech and music from my TV. The sound of the base is… Read more

good and the overall surround effect works well in my lounge room. At the time I bought this, the new model had been released, hence I bought this at a great price and my son bought one also. I would recommend this product.

Great value and performance – Having a reasonably high quality HiFi system and speakers, I wondered of I needed to improve the sound quality of my TV viewing by adding a sound bar. I could easily have connected the TV output to the Yamaha Receiver but wanted something permanently attached and easy to actovate. And I didn't want to spend too much money. Having done a bit of… Read more

research on what was available, I chose the Yamaha YAS-108 and at the price, I couldn't be happier. I'm sure there are many other sound bars with much better sound but not at anywhere this price. Highly recommended.

Great Soundbar just don't buy it if you expect Arc to work with a Hisense TV – The sound bar produces great sound and has great bass for a one piece soundbar. The sound dynamics will definitely depend on what room you use it in, but in our open style living room the 3D sound is fantastic. I think this feature works better when your ceilings are around 10ft or less in height. In my experience we have used the soundbar more… Read more

for just playing music as the bluetooth connection is great and being able to pair to 2 devices makes it great to share with someone else.

Good soundbar – Update: Only lasted 4 years. Yamaha had a very convoluted way of saying that the product shouldn't die at that point but it was also expected. Good sound quality. For a smaller room, the sound volume is more than adequate - haven't noticed any sound issues at louder volumes. Voices are clear in movies and TV shows. Bluetooth connection to phones works well. Status lights are on top, so this may be a little annoying if not using HDMI controls. Show details

Great Bass and overall sounds, however Voice is muffled! – Great bass and overall surround sound however voice clarity of spoken dialogue is terrible. The voice is muffled and sometimes inaudible, only when I turn off the SoundBar and return to the TV Speaker do I get a boost of the voice clarity back to standard level. I would like a refund however am not sure Harvey Norman will refund based on this… Read more

feedback, I wouldn't buy this unless you want to watch movies like The Expendables with minimal talk and massive explosions.

Good quality sound but connection via ARC is painful – The sound quality of the Yamaha YAS-108 is fantastic for the price and easily matches the $1000 5 year old sound bar it replaces. Sound clarity does suffer at louder volumes but this soundbar is more than adequate for bedroom or smaller lounges or lounges with lower ceilings. As a bonus the YAS-108 was able to be connected to my existing sub… Read more

woofer for fantastic window rattling base. Its surround sound mode is fairly ineffectual but the stereo mode is where the strengths of this soundbar lie. The connection via HDMI ARC is extremely painful and needlessly difficult. Yamaha is a long way behind Samsung and Sony in this regard. I had to search the internet to get consistent sound out of the soundbar as when I connected as described in the manual the soundbar would loose its setting and have to be reconnected everytime you turn the TV on and off.

Great sound, especially if combined with a subwoofer – Good sound and was at a great price. Very good value and good crisp sound with bass. Easy to set up and has bluetooth. It has much better sound than higher priced products. Show details

A good Soundbar but not without issues – Retails for ~$300 but I don't think this is good value for money. I bought the Yamaha ATS1080 on Ebay (which I believe is identical) and paid $230 from Australian supplier. Pros: Sounds alright until you turn it up too high when the sound gets very muddy - which is probably to be expected for the price but doesn't gel with all the glowing… Read more

reviews. Pretty decent bass for a unit without a separate Sub once Bass Expander mode turned on. Looks good and appears to be well made. Quite a few good software features.

Cons: Has an undocumented auto-volume leveling "feature" which resets volume to pre-determined level at every power cycle which is really annoying if you prefer it to remain somewhere else. Complicated HDMI setup - I recommend reading the actual manual before buying as it would not work with my newish TV but my TV is rubbish (furnished rental) so... Cable plug in area is quite recessed and in particular Optical cable was very hard to plug in. Bluetooth works fine with my 1 year old Samsung tablet but couldn't connect at all using my Nokia 7p Phone.
