Thankyou David for your prompt reply. You have given me valuable information about how to confidor tablets work in wet and dry soil. Its a relief to know that my plan of action just might do the trick and eradicate this scale which has been crippling my beautiful hedges.

They really do work! – I bought these to control the psyllids blistering problem on my weakened Lilly Pillies. During my landscaping works to build a new fence that sits right up against their roots, these mature hedge trees (about 4m in height and 15m span) had their root balls cut back and were severely dehydrated while the new retaining wall to hold their roots was… Read more

gradually being rebuilt over a 2 month period in winter. In the spring, the new growth showed blisters and I thought the whole hedge would die. I researched and found these confider tablets. I placed about 6 of them around each root ball, rehydrated the Lilly Pillies daily and over the course of the next 3 months, they finally started to show improvement and the new growth was eventually free from blisters. Now they are thriving once again. You have to be patient, but they really are effective and saved my very mature hedge from disaster! I highly recommend them (not easy to buy anymore)

Re: bees on azalea flowers – Re 'bees on azalea flowers', bees don't suck the sap of Azaleas, but the other nasties on Azaleas do, like two-spotted mite and lacebug. So if we are worried about bees picking up any insecticide (which we should be), then spray after the bees have gone home, like at dusk. However IF imidacloprid (the active ingredient in confidor), being systemic… Read more

(travelling in the plant's conductive tissues), is found in the pollen collected by bees, that is the problem, because pollen will be taken back to the hive where the insecticide MAY affect the other bees and juveniles. Is the jury definitely in for this? This is where the debate is at the moment.

Confidor Tables saved my bonsai – These tablets not only saved many of my bonsai (around 30 azaleas), but bought life back to many other plants around my house. We live on acreage and have many pests, issues etc. No dramas with frogs. My greenhouse holds 130 bonsai and the frogs love it and have thrived in the greenhouse. The drought is the only issue affecting our frogs. They… Read more

have come to live in the greenhouse as the birds give them heaps out in the paddocks. I run a recycled water system and it does not appear to affect anything (tablet wash through). Love them!

bees on azalea flowers – Confidor is a systemic insect killer. If you use confidor tablets you are setting up your azaleas to kill bees next flowering period because confidor persists in the sap of the azalea. Use contact sprays to control lacebugs.Start early in the spring and check for lacebug , you will find a dark, gritty residue under the leaves befor you will see many lacebugs.  Show details ·  1

Best ever for trouble shooting – Cured a very sick weeping apricot tree.. I use twice a year to ward off problems but never near blossom time....no bee issues.. You do need to be sensible re the application ..I surround the plant with intervals about one foot or more apart.. Using a finger depth.. I hope this helps..breaks down as watering takes place I use it for all ailing plants..Yates products are the best and proven over and over again..  Show reply

azalea saviours – I couldn't recommend these Confidor tabs any higher for azaleas. Admittedly they are the only plants I have used Confidor tabs on, but, they work fantastic for lace bug. You need to be sure to put enough of the tab around the roots of each plant .. they're easy to chop in half or quarters, which is what I do, and spread them around the root ball. Give them a few months in terms of noticing a true difference.  Show reply

Used these for the first time on my roses last year – I thought they were expensive but was impressed with the results. We had an aphid free season and didn't have to worry about spraying in the wind at regular intervals. They are also a great solution to not killing friendly bugs and they make no mess. Will be using them again, but think I will find better value in the larger packs.
