York Ducted

Big let down – Had to get the company back within the first week as it only blew cold air. Our temperature gets into the below zeros. Once you turn the reverse cycle on there is a five minute delay minimum before anything happens. To heat the house we are having to put the aircon on twenty six to get it to blow any heat. Have not had the power bill yet. Am thinking we will be cutting our losses and getting Daikin instead. Very disappointing. Show details
Spit inverters – The York split inverters are a moderately energy efficient heating/cooling devices. They are a bit noisy but keeps the temperature stable and does'nt dry the air-up as much I find so my throat doesnt feel all dried up. I have no idea about the costs as it was included in the new property as part of the inclusion. 4 stars because its noisy. Otherwise, gets the job done! Show details
Very bad product – Very bad from first day. Didn’t have gas, broke down in first week, not cooling properly, it was working whole day and didn’t cools down even 2’ C. Not recommending to install for double story house. After first month was on and off it self. What was not safe for the house. Show details
Never again!! – We had York zircons installed in 2010 in a brand new building. The Remotes for the zircons dint work from the get-go, took 6 months to get replacement remotes (generic ones that do not allow for all the features to be operated), the first unit broke down almost immediately, took 4 weeks to get it replaced, the second unit broke down after about… Read more
12 months, it took 6 weeks to get it fixed (and then it wasn't done by York but by the electrician that installed it as York wouldn't answer any service requests, that same unit broke down again about 5 months ago, York made us jump through tons of hoops before agreeing to fix the unit. As we are located about 150 km from the nearest "York approved" service agent, we were told that we would be charged over $800.00 for a technician to come out to inspect and determine the fault, another over $800.00 for the technician to come again to fix the unit, and another over $800.00 for the technician to come out a third time to ensure the system is running properly. We still have the email we received from York stating these costs. The part that needs replacing costs $385.00 and could be done by any qualified electrician. We ended up buying a new mitsubishi unit that cost us with installation least then the travelling costs for the York aircon. The york units have also been rather noisy and the cooling/heating is not what we expected. Our Mitsubishi unit however is a dream, heating/cooling works excellent, fan settings are on low and the noise, well we often find ourselves checking if the unit is still running its that low.
Stay away from York ducted airconditioning systems – Our York has had constant problems for the last 6 years heating and cooling has been terrible. The ducting airconditioning is constantly breaking down and servicing the unit has become an expensive exercise. Not long after each service and use the system stops pumping cold air or the heating is not warm enough Avoid York systems Nothing at all… Read more
Nothing at all is good its bulky, noisy, inefficient, cooling and heating is substandard and expensive to service
Terrible – Rubbish company, rubbish aftercare and rubbish service. Never will I buy anything York ever again. It has been a very expensive lesson for me. There are no pros with a York system, only cons. I bought this system back in January 2006, All up it cost me exactly $7,200.00 . The heating is not that effective, could be a lot better, same to be said… Read more
for the cooling too.
From the time we got this system supplied and installed back in 2006 through to now (September 2010), we have had so much hassles due to it breaking down, usually 2 to 3 times every year since being installed.
Start of 2010 the compressor died, so now, we have a brand new compressor.
8 months later, the system is starting to fail again, twice now since the new compressor was installed.
I cannot emphasise this enough....
Do not buy a york reverse cycle aircon system.
York fob you off with excuses, they leave you waiting for weeks on end without any communication while your family roasts in 40 degrees of heat in the summer time. York Reverse cycle systems are over priced, over rated and not what you expect to recieve for the money you pay.
My 5 year warranty will soon expire and still I am having the same problems with this system nearly five years later.
Bad – I purchased this unit after being told by the distributor that it would do the job easily. Its the 40* days that you really want a good aircon and I spelled this out very clearly in the first instance. The reply I got was that it would be fine and do everything I needed. It Doesn't. Look elsewhere and go for a mitsubishi unit. We have 4 at… Read more
our business and they excell. Worked well on days below about 34. Anyhting above 34 and the unit struggled big time trying to maintain a comfotable temp inside.
Terrible – Overall, the York ducted is okay for the basics, but as I said it can be quite expensive to install which has to factor into this costings. I have been in the cooling and heating industry for years and installing a ducted system will always cost more and then you need to find the correct make and model for your size home or unit and if it is not… Read more
sized up correctly a unit that is too small could quite easily be installed. But the York system are not that crash hot anyway and I would never put one in my home. Not much to say That the York can be quite expensive to install and it is not worth the money.
Terrible – Best thing about York was being taken over by Honeywell. York bought out Tempmaster Aust. and used their reputation for quality commercial units to sell the cheap and nasty imported ducted and split systems in Australia. Stay away from cheapies which will cost you more in maintenance and repairs then you paid for it in the first place and go with… Read more
the popular Fujitsu, Daikin or Panasonic units.
Noisy, poor performance, poor build quality and poor materials.
OK – a York ducted system in our house 3 years ago. This current heatwave (Jan 09)ran it all night and left it to run all day and came home to find that the system has stopped cooling altogether. Currently waiting for service technician to fix the unit at end of next week due to backlog of callouts. Would be reluctant to recommend until I understand… Read more
the reason for the breakdown. Quiet inside the house How quickly the unit has broken down given it has had little use.
Noisy outside the house. Potentially annoying to neighbours.
Terrible – Since installation have had problems.I,ve had 4 different refrigeration mechanic do work to the unit but in the end all a waste of money as unit dose not preform. 1. Had gas r22 removed in winter and inserted in summer. 2. Had the unit pumped out, and reinserted r22 gas to the requirement. 3. Had the valve in condenser unit, adjusted up and… Read more
down.
4. Had comment like, when they installed these units they put a spinkler behind the fan.
5. Tryed so many things that it would have been cheaper to install a more expensive unit because in the end it just dosen't work and the compressor seems to chew a heap of electricty with no result.
6. So if any body has any idea how to make this unit work please let me know. Really nothing good to say but keep away from them if you live in a hot climate Consistent problem when trying to heat when cold and useless when weather is hot.
Have had a york ducted system for 10 years, lots of problems mainly losing gas. This does not… Read more
