Hi my zodiac ei expert has a check cell alert how do I turn this off

Anthony P
Anthony P

I think with mine, i needed to clean the cell, check the salt, if that didn't work, disconnect the box for a reset and if that didn't work out was a new cell, can get aftermarket ones too. They work a treat and are a couple of hundred cheaper than genuine cells and a lot cheaper than a new chlorinator

Hi Jay,

This error is showing a fault on these units - check salt level and leads and if all ok will likely need to replace the cell.

Kind Regards, Zodiac Australia

Hi. I have just replaced the chlorinator cell on my Zodiac ei2 Expert. The menu shows a cell operating hours total of ‘417 days’. I want to find out how many hours the cell has completed (it runs for about 8 hours per day in the summer, fewer in winter) and also how to re-set the hours timer to zero for the new cell. Thanks very much. James.

Hi Jamie,

Apologies for the delay in responding to you.

Unfortunately with this particular model you cannot check or reset the cell hours.

Awesome to know. Thank you for clarifying. Does it mess with the chemical levels much? I’m nervous to switch it over abruptly.

It was 39ish degrees today and my eixpert chlorinator kept switching off - presumably some sort of thermal cutout. This is despite the unit being in full shade all day! Not much fun when your grandchildren want to swim!

I would have thought that this unit would have been built to function in Australian conditions!

I am trying to find out how many grams of chlorine my EI Expert mid is able to produce per day. I cannot find this data anywhere.

Zodiac
Zodiac   DM

Hi Brendan, Thanks for your inquiry. It produces 25 grams per hour, so it is dependent on how many hours it is in operation for each day. If you need further assistance, we can be reached at the live chat located on this page during 9am-5pm Mon to Fri: external link

How do I prevent No flow

Zodiac
Zodiac   DM

Hi Shayna, A no flow error will appear when the chlorinator cell does not have water flowing through it. Ensure the pump is on and operating at a sufficient speed in the case of variable speed pumps. Once flow is detected, the warning will dissappear.

Please also check out this article to find out the possible reason that your pool has no water flow: external link

Hi, My EiXpert is showing Check Cell, although has been installed for one year and only run predominately during the summer. I have checked the connections and they all appear fine and look in good condition. Surely it cant have failed in this space of time?? I note some feedback on other models provides for a reset process. Is there one for the EiXpert model?? Otherwise what do I need to do. we are one week out from Christmas the worst time for failures like this. Thanks

Zodiac
Zodiac   DM

Hi GLOCs. A check cell warning typically indicates a short circuit in the cell or cable has disconnected or is badly connected. It may also indicate a worn electrode. The best thing would be to thoroughly check the cell connections and cables to ensure there is no corrosion or damabe to the cable. I would also suggest inspecting the cell plates and cleaning them using a cell cleaning solution. If you don't have a dedicated cleaning solution handy you (If you do not use a commercially available cleaning solution, you can manufacture it yourself by Carefully mixing 1 volume of hydrochloric acid with 9 volumes of water (Warning: always pour the acid into the water and not the opposite and wear suitable protective equipment!). If the problem persists please reach our to our technical assistance as this may require a service call.

How do you turn on chlorinator outside of programmed times? Tried to let water out of overflowing pool last night and thought I could just press on and it would manually come on like my previous Zodiac Chlorinator. Had to reset time in the rain to get be able to turn it on. Nothing in manual about this most basic operation.

Zodiac
Zodiac   DM

Hi John. The ei series chlorinators have been designed to operate predominantly using timer settings however when the need arises you can utilise the boost mode function which will override normal filtration time periods and run for 24 hours on 100% output after which it will return to normal timer operations. to activate Boost, Ensure the unit is powered, then press the up arrow and select buttons together to activate boost mode. to deactivate boost mode, press the back arrow button. this information is on page 5 of the user manual
