Cheap but waste of money – The suction of the vacuum is very weak and barley picks up any water. It did not remove any stains from the carpet. It is cheap to buy but it does nothing to the carpet. You are better off buying something with stronger suction and a stick tool to give the stained areas a bit of a scrub. Do not buy this machine. It is just pointless and does nothing. Show details

Poor quality, poor performance, research carefully before buy any product – Distributed water unevenly, lacked suction power to return dirty water, applied 6 litres to only return1.5, the rest was in the carpet. Did not remove marks. Very noisy and poor design, would not recommend. Handle only had lock for upright, if you let it go during operation it hit the floor. Water leaked from fill bottle if out of machine while filling, could not prop handle forward to allow for easy filling.  Show details

This used to be good – I’ve had this machine for a few years. Used about 4-5 times ever and only with Vax brand carpet solution. I’ve been very happy - has done a great job, sucks an unbelievable amount of dirt out of the carpet (I have a couple of dogs) and has left things wet, but clean and nice. the wheel arches, constantly, leaving puddles on my carpet. I stopped immediately as that part of the machine is adjacent to the electric motor housing. So I cleaned it thoroughly (it’s quite a poor design really) by pulling it all apart, and using pipe cleaners and needles to unclog the drip holes. Checked all the rubbers were intact, and it all looked good.

Used it today and again, theres water pouring out for some reason all down the wheel arches and from underneath. This think has more leaks than the government, and yet it’s hardly been used really.

I’m very disappointed - paid $179 for it and of course it’s well out of warranty.

Poor design, clogs badly, leaks dreadfully and I will never ever buy a Vax product again. If you look around online, truckloads of people have all had similar issues - this and parts breaking off.

It’s cheap junk and really, my next machine for inbetween steam cleans will be another brand and hopefully better quality.

Horrible - Lacks suction power and noisy – I makes a lot of noise and dont have then power to suck the water it sprays on the carpet. Cant even recommend for spot clean as the water will leave permanent marks on the carpet. Avoid avoid avoid. understanding of the capabilities of these machines.

I have also experienced shopping in Godfrey's stores which I would also give a one star rating.

The machine itself, for the price, is worth more stars than the Godfrey's experience, which BTW is the cause of the unhappiness. Realistic sales advice would have educated customers to the products capabilities.

I want a goose that lays golden eggs, a tree that grows money & a $99 -$199 carpet shampooer that leaves my carpets dry and doesn't need intermittent filter cleaning.... though, remove yourself from the reach of the salesman and rationalize so that you can have realistic expectations.

How many people own combination clothes washer/dryer combo machines? Hmmm.. why not? One factor is certainly that they are expensive.

To sum up: We are looking at $99 machines and wanting them to perform like $1500 machines.

If anyone wants to ask me how i get the best results possible with the $99 machines please feel free to ask. As i answer Specific questions, I will compile the answers and post at a later date.

Waste of money – Bough brand new from Godfreys. Used it in our rental property but only made a mess. Can barely suck the shampoo/water it dispenses which left the carpet soaking. Brush is basically useless. Second time I tried using it, power switch broke off. That's it....out the window! Abandoned on the side of the road-wanted to give it a good home.Checked out the suction,Shame its ru – Found one on the side of the road, some poor fellow must have bought it. I believe they cost more than $100.00 Might have to take it apart, and make something else out of it, at least it has a good motor. Maybe can use that. After reading some of the reviews and checking the weak suction which it gives, not keen on giving it a proper try. Hope this helps

Load of crap Godfreys salespersons can't be trusted – I was sold this by Godfreys, they said what great value it was, and a good machine suited to my needs. What a load of nonsense. anything to the sales person, all they wanted was their commission.

It soaked the carpet, with very poor suction back of the dirty water. I had to borrow a powerful heater to try to get the carpet dry. It left streaks on the carpet. I intend going to the Fair Trades people. Looking at the other complaints on this page going back to January 2013 Godfreys must have known of the problems with this machine and should not have still been selling them in 2015 let alone have their sales people lying about how good it was.

Shame on you Godfreys/ The manufacturer knew of the problems and discontinued the model yet you still chose to recommend and sell it to the gullible public.

ruined my carpet! – This unit has ruined my carpets, putting backwash on to carpet, leaving water marks and stains on carpets, very little suction if any, by far not doing the job in which it states on unit, leads me to believe false advertising. There is obviously a reason why it has been discontinued! I now feel that this is why the store manager kept wanting to sell me that brand/model. Why are godfreys allowed to continue selling them?? I totally agree with previous reviews. VAX should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

Terrible – Agree with everyone regarding water leaks no power jets as falsely advertised. Purchased at godfreys. Phoned the vax company number supplied on product, ended up speaking to a manager to complain of disgusting customer service. carpet has to be refilled twice for a 3x3m room so lots of product, carpet wet entire day. Waste of money patience and time. Now I have to also fix my carpets!!

Discontinued item still sold by Godfreys – This unit has been discontinued by VAX, but is still sold by Godreys. It leaks water from under the tank (not from the nozzles) and this leakage is close to the power unit. Also the nozzles are said to be 'pressured' (in VAX pamphlet) but that's false. Cleaning is said to be easy but the suction head at the front of the unit cannot be dismantled and does clog up. Dont waste your money on this unit.

False advertising, Who will now replace my $400 rug? Vax? – So disappointed. Why are company's still allowed to get away with false advertising, when as a customer you base your purchase on what these companys tell you.. Like a previous customer stated... 2 litres of water dripped in to my carpet in huge big drops, for a return of 150mils extracted back up by this so called carpet cleaner... Nothing Everything

False advertising/ claims made on packaging and product – States on box "powered water jets for deeper cleaning". Vax themselves admit this is incorrect. The water is only dribbled on- "gravity fed" as the Vax technician put it. Leaves streaks all over your carpet. Horrible waste of time and money. I feel they need to remove this claim from machine and packaging. ease of use does not live up to claims
