Make sure Thule tow ball is in the box, otherwise you will void your warranty – Thule velocompact love the bike carrier, I am using a hitch extender to get required clearance from tray, but make sure you get the Thule tow ball, I… Read more

discovered you need these by by accident, during the research on buying one of these after i went to a stockist only to find the salesperson couldn't fit the carrier onto my Hilux tow ball, after searching on lineI found an Australian YouTube post explaining the exact same issue and when he contacted Thule they said you need their tow ball, otherwise you run the risk of damage to the mount,( by cracking it) and voiding the warranty. I also rang Thule, and they confirmed this, and stated that they now come in the box, however the Thule tow ball was not in my box when delivered, I rang Thule and they sent one straight away. It does not state anywhere in the instruction that you must only use Thule tow ball, in fact it says its designed to fit with 50mm Australian tow balls. I have seen some reviews claiming the mount area on their carrier cracked, I imagine that they were not using the correct Thule tow ball, so please make sure you get their tow ball, particularly if you buy a second hand one off market place, which I nearly did, so glad I didn't .EDIT, they claim to be universal fitting now but Thule rep in Australia never said this which is why I got a Thule towball

Good but front wheel stability mechanism is a deal breaker – Front wheel is the killer. The stability control mechanism is constantly a problem and causes the front wheel and pram to shake. You are continually… Read more

Total junk if I could give negative stars I would – Cheap flimsy and overpriced, electrical connections are junk, connection pins broke on fist use. Response from Thule Australia contact email… Read more

suggested taking it to an auto electrician to get fixed. Better quality at lower price available elsewhere. I used to associate the Thule name with quality, no longer.

Don't run the Gauntlet – Bought one of these from Officeworks, and it did not fit my laptop, was overpriced and had thin padding. My laptop has the exact dimensions of a… Read more

Macbook 16 inch, which they advertised as fitting, but it is a really tight squeeze, with the zippers looking like they will scratch the corners of the Lenovo.

It's Chinese made (not necessarily a bad thing per se), and the padding seems to be thin, low density foam under a quilted lining. There is no padding around the edges - just the zippers.

The straps mentioned by other reviewers could certainly be a problem.

It had an odd unpleasant smell from the plastic shell. The outer shell will certainly stop some scratches and dings, but the overall quality is no better than similar Chinese made items at a third of the price. Just paying for the trendy brand name - the RRP is $AU100 - what do you think the mark up is on this? 500%? More?

I returned it and replaced with a Targus Citygear 3, which has better padding and actually fits as advertised, at half the price.
