OK – Decent unit, feature rich. Not a very supreme sound output but has enough sound controls to adjust the output to your liking Bass output (Low frequency response) Bulky remote control, blurred display, not a very good high frequency response

Be careful of loose frontplate connection problems – I installed this unit in my car to replace old sony unit that did not have USB connection. I am disappointed as the faceplate connector got loose. So… Read more

it's a struggle to turn the unit on as I have to fiddle with it to work every time. I have not used it extensively and after researching found out that this is a common problem with Kenwood front plate detachable units. The sound is alright though. I would not recommend someone buying this if you need longevity for your music system.

with the whole glow in glow out blue illumination when ejecting a cd. matches my blue neons under the foot rests. Everything was great. cant believe I chose a good head unit back when i was an amateur Cons? mmmm well only thing i could think of is when i travel(speed) over a road bump and the cd skips. which is understandable.

this is an old model when i bought it and may now be incomparable to the newer pioneer but the sound reproduction is clear and with both my amps powering the speakers and subs, this head-unit really performs...using it everyday to and from work..so far no issues at all.I absolutely love it!! inexpensive, sounds great,4v preout,flip-out cd receiver old model

Its CRAP – Big bucks for a flagship device with NO support and NO map updates. Android Auto drops out when it gets some interference from street security or… Read more

street cameras. So useless in the city using Google Maps. I just want to use the inbuilt maps . Now i get popup message telling me crap I already know and hate. YOUR MAPS ARE OUT OF DATE. No shoot! It's like Kenwood wants to annoy consumers off. For the features you can actually use. Might as well buy a cheaper head unit or brand. Kenwood Blows!

GPS Mirrorlink disaster – Be aware of the following limitation. Bluetooth only talks to 1 phone at a time and is a nightmare to change connections between paired phones. … Read more

The GPS module is not included and if you can find one will cost between $500-$800.

The Mirrorlink module if you can find one will cost $150-$300.

I bought one when the web site claimed it works with Samsung GalaxyA3. Between purchase and install it is now only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S3, and even then most people are reporting that it too does not work.

You could do SO much better with one of the new Android based head units like Pumpkin, Xtrons, etc.

Kenwood when contacted had nothing to suggest except that the DDX4033BT is now not being marketed as a GPS or Mirrorlink unit, just a basic Radio, DVD, Bluetooth unit.

File format compatibility is limited and often reports incompatible file format for some MP3 Files with certain bit rates, WAV files, AVI, and of course MKV.

It cannot read usb drives beyond 32GB.

It cannot read external HD drives of any size.

When it does play, it seems ok, though navigating usb drives folder structure is tedious and you really only discover that it can be done via the search function.

Random play does not venture into sub folders or the parent directory so it does not make a good juke box.

What a wasted opportunity to make something really good.

The lesson....

Dont expect technology to be expanded to future features. If it doesnt do it right out of the box then it likely never will despite all the extra modules that are "available".
