Purchased this dash cam for $249.00 in December 2022 thinking that it would last longer than the cheaper dash cams that I have purchased previously… Read more

which lasted not mush more than 12 months. This dash cam stopped recording 2.5 years after purchase. Customer service confirmed via phone call that the cam was faulty and as the 12 month warrany had expired I would have to pay $88.00 mim. to have it assessed. NO thank you. Uniden products never again.

Modern cars increasingly have a speed sign recognition facility, but it seems to be an after thought. I've been looking a long time for a dash cam… Read more

that could read speed signs and alert me when they change so I don't inadvertently speed. The iGo Cam 75 has this feature and it works well. Uniden says their other cams don't. There are not many in Australia that do. This cam was easy to install. Two brackets are included (one per car) which stick to the windscreen in a similar way to toll tags. It can be tricky to line up the camera correctly before the adhesive grabs the windscreen, but luckily, after pulling the mount off 3 times, it still stuck well for the 4th and final attempt. The camera then easily slides onto the mount so it can easily be swapped to a second car. In operation, the nice lady inside the dash cam announces every sign she sees in a clear loud voice. My daughter (the intended recipient) said it was annoying. I said "PERFECT". In the last couple of months she has missed speed signs to the tune of over $1,000. The display can be set up to constantly show actual GPS speed rather than display the road ahead (I can see the road ahead thru the windscreen), but actual speed is what I want her to see, in nice big digital numbers which stand out more than the speedo in her car and are at eye level. It has done it's job very well. I dropped one star because I feel it should go one extra step. It can read and announce the speed sign. It can constantly display actual speed. It would be the ultimate device if it permanently displayed the last speed sign alongside actual speed - and added an overspeed alarm that you could set 1, 2 or 3 km/hr above the speed sign limit. A speed alarm that changes setting with each change of speed sign limit. This would be perfection. I've already sent the suggestion to Uniden. I hope it happens. I haven't reviewed the dash cam recording part because that part isn't what I was after with this dash cam. I just want to cut out speeding fines. A great purchase.

Worst camera I have ever owned. The set up is not very user friendly. The picture quality is not as expected. It continually misses complete… Read more

recording episodes. I have needed some of the recordings and when I go searching through all the files there are several kissing and usually the one I need. I have persevered with this but today is the straw that broke the camels back. I will be removing it and selling it eBay. I will be definitely be going back to using my DOD LS 470w. It’s only a front camera but it outperforms a Uniden. Unfortunately I must give 1 star to enable a review otherwise it would not even be 1 star.

Uniden SXR Dash cam..... has been such a pain to install and initial operation .....just dont do it. First on the list the packaging. well… Read more

packaged....but no instruction manual. no QR code nothing. I went to the website and again nothing about a manual.... I had to google search for one.... great thanks Uniden.

Instalation

The good .....Generous length. of cable for both the hard wire kit and the rearview camera.

The bad ..... on the hard wire kit includes micro fused wires. Please Garmin use piggy back fuses holders.

The front and rear camera connot be slewed/rotated right or left and must be imstalled in the middle of the wind screen.

Operation

Nice colours and white balance out of the box {it has to be as you cannot change it.} and low light performance.

Bricked it self trying to change the wire-fi password. twice....

un-able to turn off the damn thing from talking........

unable to access the system from the computer to fix or reprogram the wifi if it bricks itself......

the reset pin is not a reset...... its only a reboot.......

the unit records in 60 second chucks with the front aand rear camera in different files...... why....Unien please copy Garmin or Navman........

post processing of the video makes impossible to read a 10 foot street sign yet alone number plate at speeds faster than walking pace...... it makes this camera useless.....

I would not buy a Uniden unit again.......
