Grillo 7.13 afyer 12yrs hard use – I've had a 7.13 Climber for 12 years and used it to mow a steep to very! steep 1 acre coadtal section mainly in kikuyu grass. Before every mow I… Read more

spray chain oil on the difflock chains & check engine oil level. I grease the tensioner and steering etc, adjust chain tensions, and change or clean oils/filters as per the manual. After mowing I use a blower to remove grass clipping build up and use a scraper to clean underside of bowl. The reliability has been amazing. Engine still runs perfectly, still on original belts, tyres, chains. Only failures have been hour meter at 250hrs and cutout microswitch (both very cheaply replaced via AliExpress), flogged out spring retainer hole on belt tensioner (welded closed), and transmission losing power after 10 years (replaced with new trans). Start battery was replaced after 9 years and blade tips once. It has been a reliable and dependable machine that with exception of a diy transmission replacement at 350hrs has been cheap to run and easy to self-maintain.

A maintenance nightmare – This mower is a nightmare to maintain. I’ve had two sets of exhaust rust out, key-way in the wheel hubs grind out leading to the c clips jolting off… Read more

and the wheel falling off, multiple hydro oil leaks, spindles and bearings destroyed, random nuts and bolts rattle out, power loss, engine bay catch fire many times and hydrostatic issues. Parts are a nightmare to get and no workshop manual offered for trouble shooting. To get to belts and filters and basic maintenance task you have to pull the whole machine apart for access, gas strut for the deck regularly fails and needs regular adjustments. Positives - solid deck with quality blades, the cut presents well (not just a slasher machine) can handle slopes (we use it on a 42 degree hill) quality diff lock that gets you out of trouble. I now know this machine like the back of my hand m so if you have issues I’m sure I know how to fix them.
