price start from $230 AUD!!! I don't even want to imagine what would be the costs of other spare parts. Compare to other competitive brands with equivalent models (e.g. PondMax), their running costs are much cheaper. If I knew when I first bought it, I wouldn't.

Hayward SwimClear Cartridge Filter C200S
Hayward pool system will let you down – We purchased a Hayward pool filter and pump when we bought our pool in 2018. We bought the top of the line products at quite a high cost but thought… Read more
it was best to fork out more money if the product was going to last. Everything went well for the first few years. However, the pool started going green in the third year and the filter now makes a noise like a very loud foghorn when it starts up. I have read a number of online posts saying that other customers have had the same issue with the filter and that it is likely to be a design fault that Hayward are aware of. I spoke to Hayward and they sent out a pool expert to look at the filter. He didn't really know what was making the noise and tried a quick fix to tide me over until he could come back. He also told me that I needed a new salt cell as it was not producing chlorine (cost to me $660). Nearly 3 weeks later and no sign of the new salt cell (pool is now going green) and the filter still makes such an awful noise on start up that I have had to apologise to all the neighbours. I contacted the pool expert and said his quick fix didn't work and the filter was noisier than ever. He said he would inform Hayward. Supposedly according to the pool guy Hayward now want me to pay for a new filter element. I asked how they knew that was the issue as he hadn't suggested that when he looked at the filter, he did not reply. I am very disappointed that my very expensive pool equipment has only lasted for 4 years. This is not good enough and Hayward should be making a huge effort to rectify it rather than making the customer pay for something that is clearly a design fault with the product. Furthermore having to replace the salt cell after four years is also ridiculous. I really thought Hayward products were superior and did not think I would have to fork out a lot more money after such a short period of time.

Waste of money. Cheap Chinese plastic composite unsuitable for Australian conditions – 16 months ago our customer asked for a Hayward Pro Series Side mount MPV filter to be installed. 13 months later the valve unions started leaking. So… Read more
I used thread tape to secure them. After 16 months the valve unions had cracked caused by cheap Chinese plastic composite that’s not suitable for saltwater swimming pools aNz Australian weather conditions. This system is out of direct sunlight and is protected by a feature wall and roof eaves. Steer clear. Buy a waterco filter instead. 42 years of manufacturing and still makes the best filters to this day. This is based on 11 year’s experience in the pool equipment servicing and repair industry. And 9 years running Aquamech Services Brisbane.

warranty it cost $130 to repair. 6 months later the valve failed again, the housing cracked, and need to be replaced completely. The previous non-Davey unit ran for over 20 years. Daveys' customer service said tough luck and I would have to pay the full cost to replace it. For a company that advertises its products as "Premium" and come with a price to match, I would have expected much much better. I would never buy another Davey product.
AstralPool XC Series
Filters OK but housing has a "drain filter" which traps debris in the housing – New product with a large design flaw, the drain point at the bottom of the housing has a "drain filter" with slots so narrow fine gravel e.g.,… Read more
crusher dust which wind blows into the pool and leaves - get stuck in the "drain filter" slots. I have to stick my arm in the dirty water to keep brushing the debris away so the filter housing will drain, then wipe it with a rag, so I can use the small exit. Only other solution is to keep unscrewing the large cap and letting the dirty water gush everywhere rather than the smaller drain hole for controlled release or release using a drain hose. I tried telephoning Austral Pools but they gave me the brush off, told me their product had zero flaws (I wonder did they even test it on a real pool in real Australian conditions) and I should use a skimmer box sock. I am using a skimmer box sock. Nowhere on the website does it say "cannot be used without a skimmer box sock". The person at Austral Pools told me I was not supposed to have debris in my pool like fine gravel and leaves (?? what isn't that why I need a filter ???) and I should have bought a sand filter if I didn't want a "drain filter". This is disgraceful as I had the predecessor of this product (HurIcon ZX 150 cartridge filter) for 17 years with no problem like this. I was not allowed to talk to anyone in management or design at Austral Pools, instead I was told to lodge a warranty claim but if the product was working as designed, I would be charged a call out fee. It is working as designed, the design has a giant FLAW !! Avoid this product, the manufacturer is not willing to listen to even the most basic of design suggestion, they talk over you on the phone, and treat you like rubbish for just suggesting an improvement to their product. BUY A DIFFERENT FILTER BRAND AVOID THIS NEW PRODUCT AND AUSTRAL POOLS. Heaps of choice out there don't sentence yourself to having to keep sticking your arm in the dirty water or a 2" gush of dirty water which is the other alternative. Yuk.
